Creating a jute doll will be a great pastime for parents and children. It must be added that for the implementation of the simplest master class you will need materials that are already available in every household.
Materials and Tools
There are several options for self-made jute dolls. In the least time-consuming case, in addition to the twine itself, only yarn threads, glue, decorative braid and scissors are used. Burlap can be used to create a doll outfit, and a cardboard cone or part of a plastic bottle is used as a stand. In more complex workshops, the figure is created based on the old Barbie doll.
How to make?
DIY making a jute doll should begin with the simplest master class for beginners. It all starts with the fact that a rope of medium thickness, adhered to with your fingertips, is wound 40 times around the height of the book. Without releasing the skein, it must be cut from above. Next, the resulting piece is cut again in half and temporarily removed to the side.
In the next step, yarn suitable for creating doll hair is wound around the book in the same way. Approximately 50 turns should turn out, although it is better to navigate by visual thickness.
The yarn is cut once in the same way as jute, after which a small bundle is formed at the top of the resulting piece. Fragments of twine are distributed around the base of yarn, or rather, this bundle, and are tightly tied. Having cut off the excess, the workpiece must be turned out and bandaged so that a head with a shock of hair from yarn forms. Doll hands are created separately.Jute is wound in the same way on a book, cut twice and used to weave pigtails.
The body of the doll is divided into two parts, and pigtail hands stick into the resulting opening. The bundle is tied with a rope to indicate the waist zone and fasten the arms. The finished doll is fixed on half a plastic bottle or a thick paper cone with glue. Clothing for the figure is created from burlap, ribbons, braid and lace, twisted as desired.
Step-by-step instructions for creating a twine figurine based on a Barbie doll look a little more complicated. In addition to the old toy, the workshop will require jute twine, Moment Crystal glue, scissors and a special paper cutter, white cardboard, paper napkins, glue gun and threads, which are either 100% viscose or 100% cotton. Beads, buttons, beads, braid and ribbons are suitable for decorating figures. First, Barbie's head, legs, and arms are cut off. The latter will still be needed in the future, but it will be necessary to remove the protrusions used to connect to the body.
A cone is glued from thick cardboard in such a way as to form a white skirt at the waist of the doll. The bottom is shortened until the figure becomes stable and the bottom is closed with a cardboard circle. The body is smeared with glue and wrapped with jute, starting from the neck.
It is important that the threads do not form gaps.
Hands are handled in a similar way, with the thread coming from the forearms.
The head of the doll is made of a napkin twisted by a ball, which is first wound with ordinary threads to give the desired shape, and then made out with twine. On ready-made arms, shuttle-sleeves are made of lace, 5 centimeters long, which is pulled together with a thread, and then glued to the limbs. The dress of the beauty is created from braid glued with a hot gun. The head is fixed on the body in the same way, after which hair is formed from the threads folded several times, then formed into a braid.
For beauty, a headband can be made from the same braid as the dress.
Beautiful examples
Based on the same master class, but experimenting with hairstyles and doll outfits, you can get completely different figures. Alternatively, only one or two braids can be formed from jute threads, a low bun, a kokoshnik, a “basket” hairstyle, and even a hat. As hair ornaments, miniature fabric flowers or thin stripes of lace are used. To simulate dresses on a jute doll, it is customary to emphasize the waist and shoulder line, as well as form several vertical stripes.
An accessory for such a figure can be a small handbag or loaf made of twine.
