Each new season, the "nail" industry pleases us with the latest in fashion trends. One of them is the “veil” technique, also referred to as “tights”. What it is, how to execute the design correctly and from which tones of the color palette, we will consider in more detail below.
Description of the technique
The manicure technique “veil” is based on the principle of translucency. In it, as a rule, the same color of the base and pattern is used. The coating itself or the background should be translucent, the tone of the pigment in the classic version should be perfectly the same to create the desired illusion of nylon pantyhose. In fact, this is a design with a pattern on a translucent background.
Advanced masters of nail salons manage to use a similar technique on already painted nails.
So, they adorn accent nails of a plain manicure, and sometimes combine a “veil” with other execution techniques (classic, french, gradient).
The “veil”, combined with the technique of negative space, looks beautiful. For example, part of the nail may have a nylon design, and the second - a lace pattern on an unpainted nail plate.
The technique of "veil" allows the use of varnish products with different texture coatings. For example, for this design of nails, you can use glossy and matte gel polishes. In this case, matte varieties can have a different imitation of texture (velvet, velveteen, satin or velor). If there is no matte varnish at hand, and you want to definitely make the design matte, then for “tights” use glossy varnish, covering the pattern with a layer of matte top.
What colors of gel polish are suitable?
Color solutions for this technique can be very different. In the traditional version, it is black and white. Today, professional craftsmen take technology as a basis, but they already perform contrasting patterns on it, drawing on a translucent background, for example, delicate flowers, butterfly wings, veined leaves or feathers.
The “veil” technique, made in dark shades of the color palette, looks great. For example, it will look stylish in gray, chocolate color. Purple design with a matte texture, as well as design in the color of Marsala or khaki, will also be chic.
When performing, it is worth considering that too light tones do not look very good in this technique, especially the nude gamma is not suitable for this coating.
How to make to look fashionable?
There are two ways to make a veil manicure:
- pre-creating a pattern, and then covering the nail with a smoky background;
- causing tinting and only after that having drawn the necessary elements of the picture.
Both techniques provide for the preliminary preparation of nails with the removal of pterygium and cuticles.
To make the design according to the rules, you need to prepare the base, top, sculpted gel, pigmented varnish, a drying lamp and a drawing tool. You may need a thin brush and dots with different nozzles (to create round dots).
A camouflage base is used when you do not want the nail plate to be visible.
Before applying the base, the polished nail is treated with a dehydrator to remove residual sawdust.
The technology for performing manicure in smoky technique consists of the following successive stages:
- create a palette of foil, where the top is mixed with pigmented gel polish;
- a thin layer of the base coat is applied to the nails (thick and dense will spread, falling over the side rollers and the base of the nail);
- the base is dried under a special lamp (UV or LED) the required time, which depends on the type of varnish product used (on average 1 minute);
- draw the contour of the nail, drawing a line that is even and the same in thickness, starting from the base of the nail in the middle;
- proceed to the formation of the pattern, for which they use dots;
- design is made out according to your desire, choosing a drawing as a basis;
- after the drawing is ready, it is covered with a tint layer with a translucent texture;
- the coating is dried under a lamp, and then covered with a layer of transparent top;
- remove residual stickiness from under the cuticle using a cotton pad dipped in “clinser”.
The technology can be slightly modified by first covering it with tint, and after that having drawn and fixed the picture with a finish layer. You can also upgrade this method. To do this, you can use a little glitter or acrylic powder. In this case, the decor is applied metered on the used acrylic paint or gel polish (if the drawings are created by him).
When choosing this option for designing the “veil” technique, it should be borne in mind that it is necessary to polymerize powder or gloss twice as long as a regular layer of gel polish or base. As a rule, it takes an average of two to four minutes to get the decor to set well.
After it is dried, you need to fix the coating with another layer of the top with its drying.
What if there are no drawing skills?
There is no limit to perfection, as there is nothing impossible when you want to make a beautiful design, but there is no ability to draw. In this case, it is worth resorting to some tricks. For example, stamping can be a great way to apply a picture. This manicure assistant is a special manicure plate with an engraved pattern of various subjects. To transfer the pattern, use a small soft roller.
Using these stamps, you can depict on a tinted basis a variety of lace, monograms, flowers, branches, plants, leaves, peas, a grid, a cage, snowflakes and much more.If there are no special templates for stamping, you can use stickers on a transparent basis.
Particularly good will be kept on nails in the technique with the effect of kapron transferable water pictures.
Color schemes
Looks better design "matte" with a matte finish. In this case, the technique can be combined with colored varnishes. For example, a nylon manicure with nude, a pinkish-coral and a beige background, fuchsia, mint, peach, coffee color will be beautifully combined. Such a design looks no less tender in contrast with a soft pink tone and the color of lilacs. Luxurious design is obtained by combining veil technique and covering the shade of Marsala.
