Reverse bottle decoupage

Needlework has recently become more and more popular. One of the ways to do something with your own hands is to decorate various glass bottles using the reverse decoupage technique. What is this lesson, and how to design a decorative bottle in this technique, let's figure it out.

Decoupage is a way of decorating various surfaces using images printed on paper. Typically, paper towels, special decoupage pictures, photographs or postcards are used for these purposes.

Reverse decoupage is one of the types of this technique that is used only on glass objects, most often it is used to decorate bottles, cans, and candle holders. With this decoration method, the picture is superimposed on the glass container so that its front side is glued to the glass. As a result of registration, an unpainted window remains on the bottle itself, through which the image will be viewed.

In order to make a bottle using the reverse decoupage technique, you will need a simple set of materials.

You can use either an empty bottle or one filled with, for example, wine. The container should not have any stickers on it, glass must be absolutely clean.

For these purposes, you can buy special decoupage napkins, which are sold in needlework stores, use ordinary paper table napkins, use a photo or a postcard.The last two types of pictures are quite dense, and before use, you will have to remove the back paper layer as much as possible so that the motif fits better on the glass.

It is better to use construction glue, it does not leave yellow stains. This substance must be made more liquid, to do this, add water to the glue in a ratio of 1: 1.

Ordinary art paints, which can also be bought at a needlework store, in art shops, can also be found in construction centers. Colors should be chosen depending on the design.

This material can be matte or glossy. It also depends on the idea that you bring to life.

Here you can use alcohol or regular nail polish remover. White spirit or acetone is also suitable.

With these tools you will apply paint, varnish and glue to the bottle.

You may also need a putty to decorate the bottle with a window, yarn or twine to decorate cork, beads, ribbons, rhinestones, pieces of cloth, metallized pastes, egg shells, beads.

Having prepared all the materials and tools, move on to decorating a glass bottle with a window and a photograph.

1. Thinning the photo. To do this, wet the card from the back and carefully remove the paper layer with your fingers. The main thing here is not to overdo or damage the image.
2. We process the bottle with a degreaser from all sides, let the liquid disappear.
3. We put glue on the bottle, as well as on the front side of the picture, apply the picture with the picture inward to the glass, and go through the back of the card with glue.
4. Let the glue dry.
5. We cover the bottle with a primer layer of acrylic paint, leaving a window through which the photo will be visible. Apply pigment with a sponge with sweeping movements. We choose the color depending on which inner background you want to be visible in the window. Let it dry.
6. We dilute the prepared putty solution with PVA glue to the consistency of sour cream. Put on a bottle on top of the paint with a layer of 0.5 mm.
7. We take an orange stick for manicure and draw lamb on the putty, so that beautiful stains form. In one place you can go several times, rounding the lamb in different directions. We carefully decorate the window with divorces. Let the coating dry.
8. We decorate the cork with twine.
9. You can tint the surface by applying colored acrylic paints, giving the product the desired shade.
10. We cover the bottle with varnish. Dry well
11. You can additionally decorate the bottle with sparkles, rhinestones, beads and other elements.

There are a lot of ideas for decorating glass bottles with a window using the reverse decoupage technique. Here are some interesting options that might interest you.

• Make a decoupage not only in the window, but also decorate the whole bottle with this technique. The main thing is that the pictures should be in the same style.

• You can make a bottle in the form of a tower, and put a frame from the same putty on the window.

• The texture on the bottle can also be created using eggshells. Then the surface will resemble masonry.
