A pleated skirt with a pleated half-sun from Scotland. It was there that kilts first appeared - loose-fitting skirts with pleats. True, they were not intended for women, but were part of men's clothing. However, fashion does not stand still and soon wide skirts with pleats firmly took their place in the wardrobe of beautiful ladies.

Skirts of one cut can radically differ from each other externally, due to the huge number of folds.

They may be:

  • one-sided and counter;
  • wide and narrow;
  • straight, fan, bow, asymmetric;
  • can be located along the entire height of the skirt or be stitched for several centimeters;
  • bow folds are performed in a chaotic manner and are directed in different directions.

Who is it for?

Skirts-sun and half-sun pleated fit all women, without exception. A magnificent, short skirt looks charmingly on a young fashionista.

A business woman will surely appreciate a medium-length model with elegant stitched pleats.

These skirts are versatile and suitable for any style of clothing - from classic to sporty.

Choosing the right model is necessary taking into account the characteristics of the physique:

  • women with a “rectangle” or “inverted triangle” shape should pay attention to models with small folds. They visually enlarge the hips and make the figure more feminine, and the shapes are rounded;
  • owners of figures of the type “apple” or “pear” are suitable models with folds in the upper part of the skirt - from the waist to the hips. A skirt that fits the upper thigh will make the figure more elegant;
  • Lush ladies with round, feminine shapes are suitable for models with large folds, small and frequent folds add extra volume, so very slim girls are recommended to wear such skirts.

Styles

On the yoke

This model allows you to effectively emphasize the wasp waist and create a beautiful, slim silhouette. Skirts made of heavy, shiny silk or light, delicate chiffon look especially impressive.

On an elastic band

Universal model, indispensable for hot summers. A gentle, romantic option for an informal atmosphere. Light fabrics such as chiffon are great for tailoring such skirts.

What to wear

The sun and half-sun skirts are quite wide, so it is best to combine them with a tight top: turtleneck, top, t-shirt, classic blouse, cardigan, etc.

A very feminine version is a skirt with a shortened, fitted jacket. As accessories, you can use long bright beads, a chain, a voluminous scarf made of thin fabric.

Fluffy skirts go well with high-heeled shoes. It can be - classic shoes, wedge sandals, ankle boots or boots.

For sewing skirts it is recommended to use soft materials that hold their shape well - linen, cotton, wool, etc. The color scheme knows no limits, but you need to be careful with prints. The fold itself is a decorative element. In a motley, colorful skirt, the element may be "lost." Therefore, most often, such models are sewn from plain fabrics, the cell is always relevant, the strip is permissible.

A skirt-sun is sewn from a single fabric or wedges. The pattern of the first option is very simple - a circle is drawn with the required diameter and a slot for the waist is made. There are no seams in this model, so it looks as magnificent and airy as possible. The half-sun skirt is not so voluminous, but it looks no less feminine and charming.

How to sew a half-skirt?

For sewing such a model, it is best to choose a fabric that holds its shape well. In addition, the material should have the same properties in the direction of the shared and transverse threads. This will prevent the skirt from stretching during wear.

For the pattern, it is necessary to take the following measurements: FROM (waist circumference), DP (front length), DB (side length) and back length (DZ).

For example, OT = 60 cm.

The radius of the skirt is calculated by the formula: R = 2 * OT / 6.28.

It is necessary to take into account allowances for the fastener and folds, then the adjusted formula will look like this:

R = 2 * (OT + X) / 6.28, where X is the size of the allowances. For each specific model, this value is different.

Assume that the selected model has 2 folds in front. On one fold, tissue is laid 2 times more than its depth. The depth of one fold is 3 cm, which means the total width of one fold is 6 cm. Then the allowance for both folds will be 6 * 2 = 12 cm.

Consider the allowance for the fastener - 3 cm. Radius = 2 * (60 + 12 + 3) / 6.28 = 23.9 cm.

The pattern drawing is carried out:

  1. Horizontal and vertical lines are drawn. A compass is placed at their intersection and an arc is drawn.
  2. Further, the lines of the middle of the front and rear panels are marked on the pattern.
  3. Next, the location of the folds and fasteners is noted.
  4. 3 cm on the fastener are laid on the waist, 6 cm on both sides. The future fold will be located here.
  5. From the obtained notch, measure the distance to the midline of the posterior panel and divide in half. A side seam will pass here.
  6. Now you can arrange the folds. From the midline of the front canvas along the waistline, lay 3 cm on both sides - the width of the future fold.

Sewing a skirt-sun

To build a pattern of a skirt-sun with pleats, you first need to determine the radii:

  • The inner radius will be 1/6 of the waist circumference plus 10 cm.
  • The outer radius is determined by the length of the future skirt.

You can not do a pattern, but immediately draw a fabric. To do this, fold the selected fabric four times.Attach a centimeter tape to its inner corner and, using chalk, draw on the fabric of the circle, and then cut along the marked lines. Separate the part for the future belt. Its width will be 12 cm, and the length should be the circumference of your waist plus 5 cm.

Then proceed as follows:

  1. Cut another part of the belt from the non-woven fabric of any number so that the future belt will keep its shape.
  2. Glue the non-woven to the belt with an iron.
  3. Fold the belt in half and iron, and then, for the wrong side, bend inward one edge by 1 cm and iron again.
  4. Cut a place under the zipper on the cut fabric.
  5. Fill the stitch along the inner radius of the main part 5 mm from the edge. Set a large step and loosen the bobbin thread.
  6. Tightening one of the threads, form folds, evenly distributing them throughout the skirt. Tighten the inner radius should be around the waist plus 2 cm.
  7. Sew the front of the belt, then sew the fastener, turn the skirt inside out and sew the wrong side of the belt, closing the folds.
