If you are the mother of a little fashionista, then you have the opportunity to give your daughter an outfit of the most wonderful dreams. A voluminous, airy tutu skirt will surely delight the baby. Creating such a skirt will not take you much time and effort, but it will give your child unforgettable emotions.

Today we will tell you in detail how to sew a tutu skirt for a girl. In this material you will find not only step-by-step instructions for sewing the product, but also some useful tips on how to wear and with what to combine a skirt-tutu.

Features

A tutu skirt, also called a “shopenka” or tutu, has come into modern fashion from the world of classical ballet. She was at the peak of popularity in the 90s of the last century, thanks to the popular series - a fluffy white skirt became the hallmark of the main character, whose role was played by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Fashionistas from all over the world immediately picked up the idea, but - that's bad luck! - It turned out that a voluminous multilayer skirt looks perfect only on slender, fairly tall girls. Young ladies who do not meet these parameters look rather ridiculous in this outfit.

But all of the above applies only to adult girls. Very young people look great in tutu skirts, regardless of complexion. Therefore, little girls - and dumplings and thin women - should definitely get a similar skirt, because it has a lot of advantages:

  1. Firstly, the tutu skirt, despite the simplicity of style, is very beautiful and spectacular.
  2. Secondly, it goes well with a variety of clothes.
  3. Thirdly, it is convenient for dancing and active games.
  4. And finally, such a skirt can be easily made independently.

What to wear and combine?

Despite the fact that a tutu skirt is perceived as an elegant or costume item of clothing, it combines very well with things in completely different styles, including sports and everyday. It is important that the things in the kit harmonize in color, and the overall stylistic orientation of the image can be any.

Since the tutu skirt is very magnificent, you should choose a calmer, tight-fitting or fitted top to it. It can be a simple cotton T-shirt or T-shirt, shirt or turtleneck.

If it’s cool outside, you can put on a jeans jacket or vest over the outfit. In the cold season, the top of the kit may well be a sweater or pullover with buttons.

If you want to create an image in a sport-chic style, you can wear leggings, a sweatshirt or a hoodie with a tutu skirt. Sneakers or sneakers will harmoniously fit here.

To create a more romantic look, a tutu skirt should be combined with elegant blouses, tops and elegant shoes, for example, shoes or ballet shoes.

Do not forget about jewelry: large flowers on the belt or in the hairstyle, unusual hats (for example, a wreath or diadem), bright children's jewelry.

How to sew?

A classic tutu skirt is sewn quite simply, but it requires several meters of material. Usually, capron, tulle, organza or tulle is used for these purposes.

To assemble the canvas in a voluminous skirt, it is sewn in several layers to the waist elastic. But we want to introduce you to an easier way to create a children's tutu skirt. A beginner needlewoman can also master it, because he even requires skills in handling a needle and thread.

Most often, for self-tailoring of a skirt-tutu, they choose a fabric called “tulle”. Fatin is a synthetic material with a cellular structure, in other words, a fine mesh. It is of varying degrees of rigidity.

You need to choose a medium-hard fabric, since soft tulle does not hold its shape, and hard one is not suitable for delicate baby skin.

How to paint tulle in the right color?

Traditionally, ballet tutus have a snow-white color, but since we will sew an outfit for a child, and not a stage costume, the color of the skirt can be absolutely anything. If the desired color was not found in the fabric store, you can paint the tulle in the desired color at home.

To do this, you can use special dyes for synthetic fabrics, or you can put into use an arsenal of folk remedies. For example, to give an emerald hue, use diluted green water in water (but with this method you need to be careful, otherwise not only the skirt will turn green, but everything around, including you and the child).

Another antiseptic, iodine, is used to stain tissue in yellow or orange. A pinkish tint can be achieved by adding fucorcin (Castellani liquid) to the water - a tool that treats the skin with chickenpox.

To get the right tone, first try painting a small piece of material. You can change the intensity of the shade by diluting the product with water in various proportions. To keep the color steady, it’s recommended to add a couple of tablespoons of vinegar to the solution. Staining should be done in warm water (no colder than 50 degrees).

Calculation of the amount of tulle per skirt

We will not collect the skirt from wide sections of fabric, but from many narrow stripes. The width of each strip should be about 15 cm, and the length is determined individually, based on the height of the child and the desired length of the hem.

We calculate the length of the strip as follows: we determine what length of the skirt we want to get and measure from the waist line to the hem. Multiply the resulting result by two and add 5-6 cm of stock. For example, for a 4-year-old little fashionista, a skirt with a length of 30 cm is needed, so we need to prepare strips of 65 cm in length. In total, such strips need 40-60 pieces. Do not skimp: the more stripes, the more magnificent the pack will be.

Sewing

In order to assemble a pack skirt from strips of tulle, in addition to the fabric itself, we need an elastic band and a satin ribbon for decor. From gum we will make a belt that will become the basis for the skirt. Elastic length = waist coverage - 3 cm + a small allowance for the seam.

  1. The first thing to do is prepare the fabric. We cut tulle into many strips (we determined their length and width in advance). To speed up the process, the fabric can be folded several times.
  2. Sew the ends of the elastic and fix it in a comfortable position, for example, on the back or legs of a chair.
  3. We take the first strip of fabric and tie it to the elastic band so that both ends are the same length. To make the tutu out three-dimensional, knit a double knot, and to create less fluffy skirts it is better to use a loop knot. Try to make the knots neat, and the fabric does not stick out anywhere.
  4. Repeat this procedure for each strip of fabric until the elastic is filled to its full length.
  5. If necessary, the skirt can be trimmed.
  6. It is recommended to decorate the belt with a wide satin ribbon. The ribbon is threaded through several knots, and then tied with a lush bow.

You can also decorate the pack with beads and sparkles by planting them on ordinary universal glue.
