Entering an apartment with standard electrical wiring is often accompanied by the purchase of a large number of tees and electrical extension cords. The reason is utterly trivial: there is no exact general definition of the universal location of electrical outlets. They are chronically lacking. They are always not in the places where necessary. Only extension cords do not add sophistication to the design, and there are a lot of dangers associated with their use. But how to say goodbye to unsightly wires, consider the example of a bedroom.
How many outlets do you need?
The smallest number of outlets needed in a bedroom is:
- one device near each bedside table;
- 2 television sockets and for related equipment;
- "Point" near the front door;
- iron outlet;
- socket near the dressing table.
As a result - at least 5 required. As a rule, they come out pretty much more - this is affected by the specific location of furniture in the room and the square of the room.
Placement Methods
The scheme of universal arrangement of points at which it will be possible to rearrange furniture and change the situation in a bedroom without compromising comfort is very difficult, if not impossible. So, we must act on the situation.
Power socket at bedside table
The task of the "point" near the bedside table is obvious - connecting a small lamp or sconce used as a night lamp.
However, it would be nice to place a second outlet near the bed - to connect a charger for a tablet or phone.
A third “point” would also be useful - for a laptop computer, an electronic clock, or a similar electronic device powered by a 220 V power supply. Of course, for a 2-bed bed, all of the aforementioned doubles.
Sockets for TV
TV in the bedroom today is a very common occurrence. Only one of them functions very rarely - the number of broadcasting channels and the poverty of their programs do not satisfy all the requirements presented, even in large megacities. Basically, the TV functions as a monitor, connected to a TV tuner of digital or satellite television, as well as to view software products over the Internet. Also need to implement installation and connection of sockets for television antennas.
Consequently, the number of outlets for a television zone is rarely limited to one. As a rule, 2 “points” are mounted (TV + TV tuner), but this is not an ideal solution. More often in a bedroom a full-fledged “node” of 4-5 outlets, which makes it possible to connect not only a TV, but also video and audio equipment without worries.
Workplace
In small apartments, and the vast majority of our fellow citizens live in them, it is almost impossible to separate an individual office for work, because the workplace in almost every family is located in a bedroom. And here the first thing to do is power up the computer. If you have a laptop, just one outlet is enough. And if a stationary personal computer, then the smallest - 2 sockets for the system unit and monitor, as well as another one for the speakers. Also do not forget about the Wi-Fi router and table lamp. In general, you need 3-4 pieces.
General purpose sockets
The need for an electrical outlet near the entrance door to the sleeping room is not very obvious, however, time has shown that its purpose is to connect household electrical appliances with high power such as a heater or a vacuum cleaner.
Of course, in rooms with a small quadrature of an old multi-unit housing stock without it, in principle, you can interrupt, but in spacious bedrooms it is simply obligatory.
Moreover, in spacious rooms you must have 2 similar sockets, located in diagonally opposite corners of the room. It’s a good idea to take into account the third “powerful” power outlet at the window - you can connect a mobile air conditioner or heater in case of frost if necessary.
Iron Outlet
An electric socket for an iron, as opposed to a “point” for a vacuum cleaner, is certainly taken into account in small-sized apartments with small bedrooms. In spacious houses and cottages, as a rule, they make linen rooms or dressing rooms, and in bedrooms there is no need for ironing. The iron is a powerful electrical appliance, with a considerable consumption of electric energy. Therefore, it is necessary for him to install a personal "point".
Socket at the dressing table
A socket next to the dressing table is needed to connect a hairdryer and other electrical appliances that any woman needs. One outlet practically does not end - as a rule, a block of 2-4 devices is installed. They are mounted a few centimeters above the table top.
Location height
The height of the electrical outlets in the bedroom is determined by only two conditions: ease of use and organic fit into the design of the room. The vaunted “Eurostandard”, according to which electrical outlets are placed no higher than several tens of centimeters above the floor, is not suitable in a bedroom. In these rooms, all existing places for powering electrical appliances should be easily accessible.
To a certain extent, normalized is only the localization of outlets near bedside tables - 10-15 centimeters above the countertop (somewhere 0.6 meters from the floor) and at least 25 centimeters from the edge of the bed.
If there are no bedside tables, sockets are mounted at a level of 0.5-1 meter from the floor. The height at which the "point" is set under the iron is taken within 100-120 centimeters, just above the plane of the ironing board. The main thing is to place it correctly. Installation below or above complicates the use of the device and creates difficulties with it constantly for all clinging and tangled cord.
Design options
Let's talk about the methods and techniques for the external design of electrical outlets practiced in the design of modern interiors.
Country
When an apartment or a house is created in this "rustic" style, which prefers all that is natural, we recommend buying products with an environmentally friendly exterior leather coating. Skin can be either real or artificial.
Minimalism
This interior style can be found quite often in the design of a modern home. For him, simple sockets of dark colors are perfect: beige, black, gray. The configuration of the electrical outlets is a square with rounded corners.
High tech
This modern style will be adorned with samples with chrome trim or from tempered glass, colorless.
Modern
Colorful geometrically correct products perfectly fit into the Art Nouveau design. The color set is extensive: yellow, green and red squares, circles and triangles will be most welcome in such a home.
Loft
It is an American style that implies large spaces, and is becoming fashionable in large cities of Russia. The sockets in the interior of the loft must be made of thick opaque glass, similar to industrial finishes. Samples with multi-colored glass and steel decoration will also look very harmonious.
Ethnic
For this "natural" interior direction, the natural occurrence of materials is extremely important, therefore in the best way, samples of electrical outlets imitating such materials will fit into it:
- mahogany dark color;
- light maple wood.
Baroque, Empire, Rococo
Such historical trends suggest splendor, wealth, chic shine, in this regard, they love all the spectacular, pompous, beautiful and reminiscent of the decoration of castles. The design of electrical outlets also cannot be behind general greatness, therefore, in this case, you can practice gilded samples crowned with a pattern, luxurious decor, pebbles, and rhinestones.
Retro
Such an interior style involves rounded outlines and rather large sizes, and therefore the sockets in the above case must be solid in terms of dimensional parameters (rectangular, round or square).
