Having decided to fill out a resume with the purpose of employment, you will certainly come across the Education section. This is one of the mandatory sections, the information in which should be fully consistent with reality.

The information in this section is taken only from educational documents and is entered in strict accordance with them. The years of study, the name of the educational institution, faculty and specialty must fully coincide with what is contained in the diploma. This means that filling out a resume should be accurate and correct, without any exaggeration or change of information.

What is a faculty?

A faculty is an administrative unit of a higher or secondary special educational institution. Representatives of two or more specialties can study at the faculty. Separate faculties may include two or three departments, and sometimes a separate institute may form and be administratively allocated within the faculty, for example, a law institute in the framework of a university trains and issues diplomas of a university model, but it is itself an administrative unit.

The department is called part of the structure of the faculty, its independent unit. The departments conduct scientific work and prepare students in the framework of the chosen specialization. For example, the Department of Criminology in Law or Chinese at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

A specialty is a certain amount of skills and knowledge acquired by a student during the learning process. Unlike the department, the student’s specialty is indicated in the diploma confirming the end of the educational process. Information on the acquired qualifications is also included in the diploma.

How to indicate in the resume?

Often a person has a question - how to correctly indicate the faculty and specialty if he is applying for a position, for example, an accountant? And all this is within the same faculty.

There should be no doubt - the faculty and specialty must be indicated as reflected in the diploma.

If a person does not have a higher education, he shall indicate in the appropriate section information about the completed secondary special educational institution — name, years of study, faculty, if any, and specialty in accordance with the diploma.

As for incomplete education, if there is no diploma of incomplete higher education on the official form with a series and number, then you do not need to indicate all the educational institutions in which a person has ever studied, but has not completed training. An exception is training that continues at the time of writing the resume. It indicates the name of the university, the year of commencement of studies and the specialty that a person acquires. You can specify a course of study. If a person is expelled from a university, it is not worth writing that he is studying there, because this information can also be easily verified.

If a person does not have a higher or secondary special education, respectively, there can be no talk of a faculty or department of education. Then you need to specify the courses that a person completed, for example, a permanent make-up master, fitness instructor, etc. In addition to the name of the courses, you need to indicate which document was issued at the end of completion - a diploma, certificate, etc.

A driver’s license is a document that is indicated in the column “Education” only for persons applying for a position of driver of various categories and vehicles. For applicants for other positions, this information is indicated in the "Additional Information" section.

Spelling tips

The resume should be as discreet as possible (no more than two A4 pages), while not devoid of personality, so that when reading it can be understood what kind of person the author is. Compiling such a document is not an easy task, which is why it will take some amount of time to create it.

It is necessary to clearly think over all the wordings that are used. If the candidate does not have any qualities or experience necessary in order to occupy the desired position, one should not invent too much. Any lie added to the resume is checked very easily, so you should not put yourself in an uncomfortable position and take time from the employer. It is better to write about how quickly he learns, knows how to work with a large amount of information, about the courses he graduated from.

The more truthful and accurate information is indicated in the resume, the higher the likelihood of finding exactly the job that suits the candidate.

Be sure to add a photo. The attitude to the applicant depends on its quality and style. No need to take a photo for documents, as well as a full-length photo - it will be impossible to see faces on it. Photos with flashed, "red" eyes, blurry, dark are undesirable.

A business-style photo is the best option, no matter what job applicant is applying for. White background, studio lighting, neat hairstyle, restrained makeup (for women) are desirable. A light smile and a half-turn pose will look more advantageous than a straightforward full face and a serious face.
