Upholstered furniture is always in demand in the house, therefore it is often exposed to various contaminants, which are not always easy to remove. And it is very important to choose the right tool for cleaning sofas at home.

Folk recipes

To clean sofas at home, the simplest set of ingredients is most often used. Depending on what fabric the upholstery is made of - flock, leather, velor, for washing with improvised means you will have to choose different recipes. In addition, there are certain rules for applying them in a home or cottage. The cleaning process will consist of two stages: First you need to prepare the product, then apply it to the surface.

To wash the upholstery and remove stains, you can apply folk recipes. The simplest of them is based on a mixture of soda and vinegar. The solution must be prepared in a certain proportion. For 250 ml of water you need 30 ml of 9% vinegar and 5 g of soda.

If the stains are greasy, add 1 drop of dishwashing liquid to the mixture.

A mixture for application is prepared from these ingredients. It is spread over the sofa upholstery with a brush, and then removed with a clean, damp sponge. In the process of drying, the spots should first become brighter, and then disappear completely.

An effective tool to completely clean the sofa upholstery - a mixture of 2 packs of powder (about 800 g), 25 g of soda, 25 ml of vinegar and 2 l of hot water. The mixture is applied to the fabric, rubbed with a brush, left to dry. You can speed up the process with a steam generator or hairdryer.

White or light beige sofa can be cleaned based on 125 g of baking soda and 150 ml of hydrogen peroxide. The resulting composition is poured into a bottle with a spray and is sprayed pointwise on problem areas.

Removing stains

If the sofa needs to be cleaned of stains that remain after cleaning or as a result of contact with different types of liquids, it is worth preparing for a long struggle. The main source of problems is often the urine of people or animals. After it, a strong smell and unaesthetic spots remain. Here the main measure is early fluid removal - the less it is absorbed, the better.

Next, proceed as follows:

  • moisten a clean large sponge in liquid soap;
  • lather and apply to stains on the upholstery;
  • rinse with clean water;
  • repeat soaping several times;
  • remove foam;
  • wipe with an aqueous solution of vinegar;
  • get wet with napkins;
  • blow dry the stain.

To avoid the appearance of stains after cleaning, it is recommended to produce not local, but full processing. So the upholstery will dry evenly. If local stain removal is performed, problems cannot be avoided. If the cause of their appearance is dust and dirt accumulated inside, you can solve the problem by periodically knocking out upholstered furniture under a damp white sheet. In this case, all particles hidden from the eyes will precipitate upon contact with the knocker on the surface of matter.
