French manicure is a classic design of nails. He gained popularity due to the fact that it can be both neutral and bright.

Bold design options are perfect for holidays and walks, and pastel and transparent shades can easily be integrated into any, even the most strict office dress code. And if before the presence of long nails was almost mandatory for a jacket, now it’s easy to choose options for short ones.

Features

A distinctive feature of the jacket is the strips along the edge of the nail plate. In the classic version, such a strip runs along the outer edge and repeats the light strip in the overgrown nails. But unlike the natural version, the white jacket varnish always shows cleanliness and grooming, and under it dirt is not visible, which inevitably gets clogged under the nails.

At the same time, in light and gentle tones, such a manicure does not strike the eye and is on a par with “natural” makeup. And this is the case when you can easily and harmoniously combine a glossy and matte texture.

For the classic jacket you will need two varnishes - pastel or transparent and white. You will also need special rounded strips, which are sold in any cosmetic store. Now you can find not only round, but also triangular, as well as straight lines - they will allow you to make a very unusual geometric design in the modern style.

How to make?

First of all, make sure your fingers look well groomed. French is the option when the uneven edge of the nail plate or rough cuticle will be very clearly visible.

Make sure that everything is in order with them and apply a leveling base on the entire nail plate - a flat surface is also very important. If the base cannot give the desired effect properly, you can use a special nail file or manicure machine with a polishing nozzle. If you plan to leave the main part of the nail plate transparent, you will definitely need this option.

Then step by step follow these steps.

  • After applying the base, take the adhesive strips and place them on the nails so that there is a distance between the strip and the edge of the nail plate. It needs to be painted over with white varnish.
  • Then remove the strips, take a second varnish and gently paint the rest of the nails.
  • When the varnish dries, the nails can be decorated with drawings, strips of foil or other decorative elements to your taste. Drawings can be drawn by hand with varnish of a different color or use special stickers.
  • In the end, use a top (top cover) - the matte version will look especially elegant.

Reverse jacket

If your nails are short, a classic jacket may not be very appropriate, but in this case you can do the opposite. To do this, white strips are made along the edge of the cuticle, on the inside of the nail plate. On the nails that have grown slightly beyond the edge of the finger, it is already possible to do a double option, when the strips are drawn on both sides.

Such a manicure is even easier to do than a classic French, as the last part of the nail will be used to paint the usual part of the nail and it’s usual and simple. And if you accidentally hit a strip, you can use foil stickers and cover up the oversight.

On short nails, you can also make a full contour with a contrast line, and then draw a pattern in the same color in the center - it will turn out very beautifully, unusual and stylish. The reverse jacket is much less visually overloading the nails, so it is easier to combine various decorative elements - rhinestones, sparkles, stickers, micro-beads, foil. You can also use varnishes with fashionable effects, such as cat's eye, spreading, metallic or craquelure.

Twist jacket

A twist-French is a variant of manicure when two colors are used for stripes. Moreover, their location is probably the most diverse. For example, it can be just two parallel lines of contrasting colors. It will be interesting to look if at the same time any pattern or pattern on the main part of the nail is made in one color with the outer strip. However, it is also not worth overdoing it - this image should be as simple and sketchy as possible.

One of the trends is the division of one strip into two colors. That is, the strip is made up of two contrasting halves. Often they are made at an angle to each other and extending to the lateral edges of the nail plate.

You can go another way - to depict not two, but several standard stripes. If you make them very narrow, then this option will look good on short nails.

Other species

Drawing can be replaced with additional foil sticker strips or a glitter line. You can stick them by making a strip along the central vertical of the nails. This option is a great party manicure.

The asymmetric design with a slanted strip on one side looks original. In addition to it, you can make a small drawing with the same color in the remaining space. White graphics on the French always look the most spectacular, although it is not necessary to adhere to the classics if manicure is supposed for an informal celebration or date.

But there is a case when it is better to do without drawings exactly - this is a jacket with ombre. This technique is a smooth flow of shades of color from intense to transparent like watercolors and is done with a sponge or sponge. When such a transition is made using white or light pastel varnish from the outer edge, they speak of a French ombre.

This design in itself looks unusual and attracts attention in any environment, so additional elements may be unnecessary, as they will overload the nails. However, if you really want something other than ombre, you can only make it on separate nails, and others can be decorated with a different version of the jacket.

Most importantly, do not forget that they should also be combined with each other, otherwise your hands will look like a portfolio of manicurists, and not the harmonious part of the image.
