Today, making yourself such an unusual manicure with foil is quite simple. The magnificent design of nails with the help of different types of foil is quick and easy if you know how to use it.

What it is?

A neat manicure makes female hands well-groomed and attractive. Beautiful hands can be safely compared with a business card in our modern world, where fashion, glamor and chic are far from the last places. Today, most female representatives pay much attention to manicure, constantly trying something new and original. Special demand in recent years has been observed on the design of nails with foil. This material gives a luxurious metallic luster that invisibly shimmers and attracts attention.

It is worth noting that this is not about ordinary foil, but about special, which is sold in stores with a manicure orientation. Moreover, foil for manicure differs from the usual kitchen material in both its composition and structure.

Currently, there are several main types of foil.

  • The transfer is roll and sheet. It is considered the simplest in terms of independent use. In addition, you can experiment with it indefinitely, creating new options for manicure. The widest gamut of colors contributes to this. Moreover, even matte shades look chic. In its structure, this type of foil is the most dense.Already by one name it becomes clear how this material is used - it is copied to the nail plate. To do this, take and press the sticky side of the foil to the nails. After that, the film is removed, and a colorless fixative must be applied on top. This is necessary to keep the drawing better.

  • Non-translatable:
  1. sheet;
  2. tear-off;
  3. inseparable (stickers).

The density of its structure is similar to the translated. However, in order to use it, you need to know the basics of special equipment and fill your hand in order. This type of foil does not have the indicated lines along which it must be torn off. It is necessary to trim the material along the patterned lines or immediately according to the shape of the nail plate.

The tear-off type simplifies use, as it has dashed lines that greatly simplify tearing off the foil. The leaf view most often represents the sheets on which various decorative patterns and elements like butterflies and flowers are applied. Sometimes they need to be cut using a stencil. This type is perfect if you want to make the effect of cast metal nails.

  • Reaped Available exclusively in a jar and is similar to gold leaf. The structure of this species is very original, and its thickness is the smallest of all types of foil presented today. Using this material, you can create intricate patterns on the plate and even mosaic paintings with many highlights. Apply foil to a layer of special gel or glue.
  • Embossed can be sold in the form of rolls or sheets. The structure of such a foil is pronounced and is characterized by a variety of colors, patterns, decorative variations. All the beauty from this material is easily imprinted on the nails, giving them a unique design. Most often used in conjunction with other types of foil.
  • Thermofoil or thermal film applied exclusively with warm air. When heated, this material becomes obedient. It is quite easy to work with it in comparison with other types of foil. However, thermal foil can only be used in conjunction with an ultraviolet lamp.
  • Tape most often has a width of 2 to 3 mm and is sold in rolls. This type immediately has an adhesive base, which simplifies its use. Such a foil is used both as a decoration and as a stencil. With her, even a complex manicure can be created quickly and without unnecessary problems. To do this, it is enough to remove the fake layer, and then press the element to the nail surface.
  • Charmonics are stickers with a sticky layer. They can easily and quickly decorate the nails, fixing with a colorless coating. Often used for ready-made manicure.
  • Minx - small pieces of foil in the shape of a nail. Apply with glue to the plate. High temperatures are used to secure them.

Foil for nails is clearly diverse, which allows you to make interesting and extraordinary experiments in terms of manicure. It remains only to learn how to use each of the species.

Design options

There are many options for designing nails with foil. Everything is limited solely by imagination. For parties mirrored nails in gold or silver will be appropriate. Ideally this design can be implemented using sheet types of foil. Gentle girls will surely like lace with a bewitching metallic sheen.

Multi-colored pieces of foil on the nail plates look very lively and original. This version of manicure can be brought to life using a squeezed type of foil. Moreover, the smaller the pieces, the more beautiful the pattern on the nails. It is best to apply the pieces using tweezers, glue or a thin layer of fresh varnish.

At the peak of popularity, lunar manicure remains. When it is created, colored foil is more than appropriate. After all, the metallic luster involuntarily attracts attention, making the nails the center of attention.This option will be appropriate for both short and long nails.

The emphasis on the hole can be done using a variety of methods. You can emphasize its bulge or curvature, or you can give the hole an unusual triangular shape. A straight piece of foil on it will also be very original and interesting. Of course, it is better to think over the shape of the hole in advance, to choose the colors of varnish and foil. After all, the composition should be very harmonious.

It becomes very interesting lunar manicure with a foil in contrasting colors. For example, on a dark background in blue or black, gold or gentle light will be appropriate. When creating decor elements from foil, it is best to use stencils. This will allow you to arrange all the holes neatly and in the same style.

Often a transfer foil is used to isolate the well. It is desirable to apply it on a still dry basis for better fixation. At the same time, do not forget about the finish.

No less popular is French manicure. French clearly does not intend to lose his appeal. Designers recommend using this type of manicure for both weekdays and for festive events. With foil, it becomes even more refined and luxurious.

A unique manicure using pieces of foil can be created by emphasizing the smile line with a metallic shine. For the free edge of the nail, you can use rounded elements resembling a crescent or triangle with straight, clear lines. You can also use ready-made stencils that offer a variety of options, ranging from simple lines. Foil allows, in addition to the usual jacket, to make an expressive scythe. Unlike lunar manicure, in the French version, the foil is applied to the overgrown part of the nail.

Mirrored, or, as it is also called, reflective or metallic manicure is the king of parties and holidays. Such nails will always be gorgeous. A shiny layer evenly covers the entire plate, forcing it to attract glances. For this design, it is better to give preference to thermal film.

The foil in gold or silver color will look especially impressive on the nails. But designers advise avoiding additional drawings or accents, otherwise a bright and bold manicure will easily turn into vulgar and lurid.

The casting effect excites the desire of many fashionistas. Of course, most often it is performed on artificial nails. Although it is worth noting that on natural ones it will look no less luxurious. You can make such a manicure not only in the salon, but also independently at home.

For casting, it is best to use a transfer foil. She is the easiest to work and even beginners can cope with it. You can stick the foil on the nail plates using special glue or gel polish. To diversify this design option, you can additionally glue liquid stones or use acrylic powder. Another interesting option is the use of stained-glass windows, which are made by applying various varnishes.

Crystal nails or broken glass manicure appeared not so long ago, but stubbornly does not want to leave the leading position. Shards on the plates allow you to experiment with design unlimitedly. This type of manicure is able to decorate nails of any length and shape. Broken bright splashes look luxurious in any variation. Moreover, the nail plates do not seem overloaded, which allows you to apply pieces of foil to all ten fingers.

Due to the small pieces, the manicure looks light and resembles precious stones in its appearance. Recently, holographic fragments, which are applied on a black base, have gained the greatest popularity. No less often, a variety of oriental themes are used, as well as foil placers resembling expensive diamonds.Do not be afraid to have “broken glass” randomly and without any system. Light falling on the nails at different angles will turn them into an intricate and bewitching kaleidoscope.

Not so long ago, a new type of foil appeared - liquid, and almost immediately it became a new trend in nail art. Such a foil is a gel polish interspersed with small metallic spangles. When they dry, they are very reminiscent of a bright film with a unique sheen. The main advantage of such a manicure is the ease of execution. In addition, such nails can easily be supplemented with painting or stickers.

A geometric foil manicure will look very impressive and interesting. It is advisable to choose durable types of foil for this option. As for the size and width of the figures, they can be very diverse. You can choose parallel lines, intricate lattices, expressive triangles, extraordinary waves.

In colors, it is best to prefer contrast with the basecoat. Moreover, it is not necessary to choose monophonic foil, because there are original options with interesting prints. If there are thin metal elements, then it is recommended to use tweezers for their application.

How to use?

It’s easier to learn new manicure techniques if you have all the necessary tools at hand. Applying foil is not an easy task, and for this you need not only a special manicure arsenal, but also a lot of patience. To properly make chic nails using a metallic shine at home, should stock up on the following materials and devices in advance:

  • a solution that helps soften the cuticle;
  • a set of accessories for manicure;
  • varnish for the main layer;
  • special file for polishing nails;
  • degreasing fluid, such as a primer;
  • favorite foil;
  • adhesive if the foil does not have a sticky base;
  • ultraviolet lamp;
  • a wand or other leveling and pressing tool.

Before you start doing manicure, you need to carefully approach the selection of high-quality adhesive for foil. You can buy it at any specialized store. However, you should first decide which glue should be used.

The most popular is the composition of Jina. Its main advantage is that it is packed in tubes and it has a brush. Thus, it is easy to apply on the nails. In addition, it lies evenly on the plate and holds metal material well. For drying, there is no need to use additional funds.

An adhesive solution for foil material is applied to the main layer of varnish after the latter is completely dry. Then you should wait until the color of the glue changes, and then apply the foil. If you hurry, then the manicure may not be very beautiful, as the film may not stick. It will also be better if the adhesive is applied in a thin layer.

In the event that it is planned to use rhinestones in the design, it is better to opt for Hongyi glue. It differs in a convenient thin brush and drying in just 5 minutes. Additional drying with an ultraviolet lamp is not necessary. In addition, it is easy to remove in case of contact with the skin.

Rio Profi glue dries even faster - in 3 minutes. At the same time, it is completely colorless and creates a glossy layer. Sold exclusively in black 10 ml bottles. Also among fast-drying adhesives is Global Fashion. Initially, the substance has a white color, but as it dries it becomes colorless.

Using foil, which is applied to the glue, is completely uncomplicated. To do this, it is enough to follow some rules:

  • remove the previous manicure so that the nail plates are completely clean;
  • give the nails the desired length and shape using manicure accessories;
  • polish nails with a buff with an abrasiveness of 300 grit;
  • treat nails with a degreasing agent;
  • apply a base coat to the plates;
  • carry out drying under a special lamp;
  • remove excess layer with a special cloth;
  • apply the main color varnish on the nails and dry again using UV rays;
  • when the varnish dries, apply glue on top according to the design and wait until its color changes;
  • take the foil and apply the inner side (most often it is white) to the places on which the glue is applied;
  • with a stick or other suitable device, evenly press pieces of foil to the nails for a couple of seconds;
  • in order to get the foil coating well translated, you need to remove the top layer in one quick motion and wait 2 hours;
  • cover the nails with a fixing coating, for example, gel.

Do not cover the foil too soon, as it may warp. For such types of foil as tear-off and sheet, adhesive must be used, since they are most often more rigid and do not adhere well to the plates.

If you use foil material with a sticky base, you can greatly simplify the procedure, dispensing with glue. Also, it can always be replaced with varnish. Especially good types of metal coating, which can simply be printed on the nails. The algorithm of work in this case will be as follows:

  • to erase traces of the previous manicure;
  • to process nails using a manicure set, giving them the desired look;
  • polish the plates with buff;
  • apply a degreasing agent and wait until it dries completely, while you should not use additional drying;
  • prepare foil: cut or tear into the necessary pieces or cut the desired decorative elements;
  • cover the nail with the base and dry under a special lamp;
  • paint the plates with the selected varnish and dry again under the lamp;
  • apply foil according to design, if there is a transfer film on it, then it should be removed;
  • gently press and level the foil layer with a suitable object;
  • coat the nails with fixing solution and dry under the lamp;
  • remove excess adhesive layer.
