Crocheted mats from shreds harmoniously fit into the interiors in the style of country or Provence, any ethnic design solutions. Once they were called "grandmothers", they were considered an integral attribute of rural life. Today, a new generation of fashion designers and interior designers is ready to learn how to knit a carpet on the floor from shreds of fabric in the style of patchwork or country.

Features

Crocheted rugs from scraps of fabric quite successfully replace popular textile products in the style of patchwork. At first glance, these techniques are even similar, but in reality the difference is great. To knit the floor mat in the bathroom, hallway or living room, no threads needed: all connections are made with just one hook.

Unusual products are made from knitted or stitched together strips of fabric. Previously, in villages they preferred to simply bandage the canvases cut into ribbons. Today, craftsmen sew them on a typewriter or manually: This way you can avoid twisting, and the finished product looks more neat.

It is recommended to knit fabrics from the very beginning in a circle, making as long continuous ribbons as possible.

Usually crocheted rugs make it as simple as possible in shape. Most often it is a circle or oval, you can also associate a rectangular path or square product small format (for use at the entrance to the house or in the bathroom). In choosing a pattern, you can not especially zeal. Most often in this capacity are concentric circles or strips replacing each other.

The color scheme can be any, but it’s better to focus on the classic combination of contrasting or similar in color shades.

The combination of white and yellow, blue, red colors always looks elegant. A mixture of scarlet and orange will add brightness to the room. Lemon-olive gamut will bring peace. Lilac-violet tones are suitable for a children's room, a bedroom of a young girl.

Materials and Tools

The choice of materials does not need to try to be original. The best crocheted home rugs come from old cotton T-shirts.

It is recommended to choose not too faded products containing more than 70% cotton and other natural fibers.

In the future, a mat of them will be easy to wash and maintain in order. In addition, for the manufacture of dense and lightweight rugs, overlays for chairs or benches, you can use old nylon or knitted plain tights.

The list of necessary tools will also not be long. In the process, the following materials and tools will come in handy.

  • Largest Hook: from 6 to 10 mm. It is better to choose a one-way option with a comfortable non-slip handle.
  • Scissors. They will be required for the manufacture of ribbons from fabric. It is necessary to cut the matter into ribbons 3-5 cm wide.
  • Thread and needle. They are needed to connect disparate ribbons to each other. They can be replaced with a sewing machine: so creating a single tangle will be much easier and simpler.

Having carefully prepared all the materials and tools, it is worth choosing a convenient workplace. Knitting a bulk product is a rather laborious and tedious task. That is why it is worth taking care of choosing a comfortable chairin which it will be possible to spend more than one hour.

So that the ball does not roll away, it is better to put it in a basket or bucket, putting it next to it. So you can avoid tangling the thread during operation.

    How to make?

To knit or weave a patchwork carpet with your own hands, it is enough to prepare all the necessary materials for work, to find free time. The simplest option will be round.

To successfully cope with the work, it is worth following the recommendations of a step-by-step master class.

    1. Tangle preparation. The fabric for him should be thoroughly washed, ironed. Cotton sheets, knitted t-shirts are suitable. They dissolve them on flaps-ribbons of 3-5 cm, the resulting segments are connected together by seams, smooth. A medium-sized rug requires about 200 m of foundation.
    2. Chaining. It fits in the traditional way - with air loops (only 5 is enough). They are locked in a ring, which will become the basis for the future product.
    3. 1 row knitting. First, through the center of the circle, you need to knit the lifting loop, then continue moving along the ring, forming double crochets in each loop and a half-column at the end.
    4. Knotting 2 rows. Here also use double crochet. From the first loop, the second is made to increase the diameter of the ring. It is important not to skip steps, to be careful.
    5. 3 row knitting. At this point, you can change the color of the thread. It is important to remember that when knitting 3 rows, you must already alternate the first and second loops. In each second step, their number doubles: so the diameter will gradually increase. After completing each subsequent row, the workpiece is placed on a flat surface, leveled.
    6. With 4 laps the number of columns from the loops increases by 1 with each subsequent cycle. That is, in this row there will be 2 of them, in the 5th circle there are already 3. You need to continue until the dimensions of the mat reach the desired performance. Typically, its diameter does not exceed 0.7-1 m; larger-format products are made oval or rectangular.

When knitting round and oval products, the movement occurs in a spiral. In this regard, it is necessary to carefully control the bending of the edges of the product.

It is worth considering that if they become wave-like, turn around, you need to dissolve the last row and knit it without increases. Then return to the previous pattern with increasing pitch on each row.

Knitting round village rugs is easily mastered even by a person who is far from needlework. With the help of correctly selected color combinations, you can create original decorative products in retro style that can decorate the interior of a house or apartment.

If you want to get a rectangular product, the chain of loops at the very beginning is gaining much longer - the width of the future knitted rug. Further knitting is performed in rows sequentially, without increase. You can use simple air loops or double crochets, choosing any desired length. Such rugs are not commonly made plain. The width of successive strips can be different, vary from 5 to 10 cm.

In the next video, you will clearly get acquainted with the process of knitting a round rug from shreds.
