The gyro scooter is a very useful type of personal electric transport. Before buying it, you need to learn the rules of riding, assembling, cleaning and washing the device. It is also necessary to take into account the manufacturer's requirements for charging the battery.

Basic Rules

100% of modern gyro scooters are equipped with lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, there is no need to fear the memory effect. You can safely charge the device as needed. The key rule of use is the inadmissibility of a complete battery discharge. However, it is impossible to accurately predict when this moment will come.

Exhaustion is determined by:

  • the quality of the road surface;
  • weather conditions;
  • original battery capacity and a number of other circumstances.

How long does charging take?

It is important to understand how long the gyro scooter needs to be charged. There are two main aspects: that the charge is replenished efficiently, and that it is not overloaded. Some modern lithium-ion batteries charge in about 90-120 minutes. You must immediately trace how long this process lasts, how many minutes it takes exactly.

The required number of hours of charging is prescribed in the technical specifications and in the instructions.

If the battery lasts a very long time, it is very likely that the battery is damaged or has run out of life. In both cases, it will have to be replaced. Even a very large and fast gyro scooter charges 3-4.5 hours. If you exceed this indicator (for example, keep the device connected to the network all night), the consequences can be unpredictable.At the same time, the battery wears out and may become unusable at all; and on some models, the total charging time is even shorter.

How to charge?

First time

Actions when charging a new gyro scooter are prescribed in the instructions and accompanying documents. But the general requirements remain unchanged regardless of the specific model. As on other similar devices, in gyro scooters, battery calibration is required. Weather conditions are taken into account. When the scooter was brought into a warm room from the street in late autumn or winter, it will inevitably be covered with a layer of condensing liquid.

As in the first experiment, and in the future You cannot charge the gyro scooter until it is completely dry. You should not hope that the problem will be solved simply by wiping its surface. Danger to the battery is any drop of water that gets inside the device. Therefore, no matter how rushing the owner as soon as possible to test his device, he will definitely have to wait at least 1.5-2 hours. Calibration is carried out as follows:

  • connect the gyro scooter turned off by the button to the 220 V home network;
  • expected to fill the battery with current to the limit;
  • they are also discharged to the limit (it is advisable to ride indoors, so as not to wait until the acclimatization is over again);
  • charge the device to the limit (thereby achieving optimal battery capacity and at the same time significantly extending its life).

Subsequent times

From the very beginning, it should be taken into account that in everyday skiing, unlike calibration, deep exhaustion of the charge is unacceptable. It’s crucial to keep track of so that it does not fall below 10% of the limit level. If even this happens, you should immediately put the gyroboard in charge. Yes, the battery life will still run out a little, but at least a quick and clear help will allow it to ride on this battery for some more time.

It is especially important to monitor the maintenance of the charge level in cold weather. The colder the air (especially against the background of high humidity or strong wind), the more intense the battery. But the need to connect a discharged hoverboard to the network as soon as possible does not mean that this can be done thoughtlessly. Even the most cautious skaters often encounter a clogged network socket on a scooter. Before you include your personal transport in the network, all dust, dirt, and especially liquid water or pieces of ice (snow) must be removed from there.

Recommendation: it is worth buying or manufacturing a rubber plug yourself, so that this problem is solved initially.

When the charger is plugged in, the power supply starts to glow green. Next, the plug is inserted into the connector on the hoverboard. The bulb instead of green turns red - this is exactly what marks the beginning of the charging process. When the battery is full of current, they act in reverse order. First, remove the charger from the outlet, and only then disconnect it from the vehicle.

Of course, you should once again check whether the battery is really charged. This will avoid many unpleasant surprises in the future. But overexposure in the connected state is unacceptable: you have to look at the indicator at least once every 5-10 minutes. When the charge is full, the indicator turns green.

Of course, charging should occur at normal room temperature and minimum humidity.

People often wonder if it is possible to charge the gyro scooter on. No problems should arise from such an attempt. But, if at this moment a surge in line voltage occurs, electronic components are likely to fail. Theoretically, the output could be the use of voltage stabilizers and uninterruptible power supplies. But you should not risk it anyway.

The problem may be in another: when the hoverboard is turned on, it will spend a little charge.Therefore, it will be much calmer if you turn off the device and fully charge it. This will save additional time. But from the purchase of all kinds of gadgets, whose suppliers promise the ability to quickly charge the gyro scooter, it is better to refuse.

Only the use of branded chargers designed for a particular model will be completely safe.

Do not charge the battery:

  • from which an incomprehensible smell comes;
  • whose body is bloated;
  • which is at least slightly fused;
  • which began to discharge very quickly.

Before you put the hoverboard in charge, it is necessary to verify that the power parameters comply with the requirements of the manufacturer. Any manipulations of this kind not only harm the safety of the device. They threaten to receive electric shock, fires and even explosions. And even if this does not happen, the battery can be instantly disabled. There is no need to talk about the deprivation of the guarantee - this is obvious.

It is worth considering, however, that it is not always possible to completely avoid problems. And with the daily operation of the hovercraft, situations arise when it is necessary to charge it with deep discharge. The reasons for this are the most varied - strong employment, fatigue, carelessness or frivolity. But the consequences are the same - sometimes the battery stops charging, and the indicator on the charger does not light.

In such cases, it is advised to keep charging connected for about 2 hours. If, after this, the process does not begin, it can be assumed that either the battery is out of order or the charger is damaged. In these cases, you must contact the service center. In the first 14 days after purchase, you can request a replacement or cash compensation. But after the warranty period, you can do this:

  • open the case;
  • remove the BMS plug from the connector;
  • short there black and red wires;
  • ring tester battery blocks;
  • if the value is less than 3.2, the battery is recharged to 4;
  • return the BMS plug to its place;
  • recharge the battery.

If this does not help, you will either have to contact the professionals to restore the battery or buy a new battery. Sometimes, however, they make a new battery on their own. The case and BMS are taken from the old device. The gyro scooter cannot be charged if water, snow or ice has got inside.

Do not hold the device while charging near open flames, heat sources, or radiators.

When a standard memory device fails, it is only necessary to change it to a full proprietary analogue. All sorts of "similarities", regardless of price, cannot be used categorically. You must remember about the battery life. The nominal number of charge and discharge cycles is 500-600 for the entire period of operation. But when recharging is carried out every time when the charge is reduced by 10-12% of the maximum, this amount can be doubled.

It should be understood that The recommended number of cycles is just a guideline. Usually you can use the battery even longer. However, in this case, the travel time will inevitably be reduced when fully charged, and the recharge itself will begin to occur more slowly. Therefore, it is not advisable to exceed the recommended number of charge-discharge cycles by more than 3 times, even with the most careful handling. And each deep discharge only reduces this figure.

How do I know if the battery is fully charged?

The information already outlined shows how important it is to understand that the battery of the hoverboard is fully charged. Almost all models manufactured now have a special indicator. Some modifications are designed to use special mobile applications. However, only such options have so far Jack Scooter, Wmotion, Smart Balance. Having a gyro scooter of one of these brands, you can quickly monitor battery charging through a smartphone.

Special programs are equally compatible with Android and iOs platforms. But even if it is impossible for some reason to use this software, there is a way out. Any, the simplest phone, now has a timer option. You can also monitor the charging time (according to the instructions):

  • using timers for computers and laptops;
  • when using chargers with the corresponding function;
  • when using an alarm clock or a special signal in a watch.
