Content

Not every woman dares to wash a wool coat. As a rule, all of these products are dry cleaned. However, there are situations when washing is the only possible way to save your favorite product. In any case, this is a bold step. After all, a coat can shrink, stretch, lose shape, or become covered with stains. To avoid this, clear guidelines should be followed for proper washing and drying conditions.

Care Features

First you need to clarify whether there is a theoretical possibility of washing a coat of wool, and which one: machine wash or manually. First you need to determine the composition of the fabric, for this, read the label on the coat: it always indicates what the product is from and how to care for it. If the coat is completely woolen, wash it is not recommended, only dry cleaning.

Preparation

Place the coat on a hanger and carefully inspect. First, just clean it from dust, threads or other small dirt, as well as spools. To do this, use the clothes roller.

Next, clean the cloth with a soft brush dipped in soap and water to remove any visible stains. This procedure must be carried out carefully, along the location of the pile, not to rub the wool so that the fabric does not suffer. If there is another material or fur on the collar and cuffs, it is necessary to unfasten them. If in contact with water, metal parts may rust, and red spots will remain on the material.

For washing, the product must be turned inside out, fasten all the zippers, buttons, if any, buttons. Then it is placed in a special bag, which is designed for washing.

If the model contains buttons or other metal fittings, they must be removed.

Product wash

Machine

The main thing in machine wash is the correctly selected regulator icon. The best option would be mode "Wool", which is present in almost every machine of the modern model. In earlier models, this mode was replaced Delicate Wash or Hand Wash. Water in the car should be heated no more than +30 degrees. Higher temperatures can ruin the product. In this case, it is better not to wring the coat, turning off the "Spin" mode.

Do not pour granular powder, it is much better to apply a gel, shampoo or other liquid product specifically for wool. When everything is washed, it is necessary to completely rid the coat of soap and water. To do this, rinse the product at least two times, and preferably 2-3. When rinsing, it is better to add conditioner to soften water and tissue.

Manual

A manual coat is washed to make the procedure more gentle. Washing a coat involves a large amount of water, not very heated, with a maximum temperature of 20-25 degrees. The product is first soaked, washed gently, then rinsed in several waters.

Materials

The coat can be made of different types of wool. The selected type of washing will depend on what material the product is made of.

Felted wool

Today, felted coats have gained immense popularity. They are very warm, light and, most importantly, beautiful. Of course, this is an expensive product, and if it suddenly lost its original appearance, I want to return it.

Oddly enough, such products Resistant to impressive loads and impacts. For example, shrinkage in this case is not observed, since this is the meaning of the felting method. A well-piled product is almost an overgrown thing. In this regard, a coat of felted wool can be safely and surely washed.

The only thing that can and should stop you: any decor on the model (applique, sticker, rhinestones and more). Then apply only a neat hand wash.

Here are some guidelines:

  • wash only with a specialized tool, preferably liquid, with lanolin;
  • soak the coat in water using the selected product for two hours, after which a thorough rinse is necessary. The water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees, mainly this applies to non-ferrous products;
  • categorically do not squeeze and twist the product. You can dry it in the unfolded form and in a horizontal position, and at a distance from all kinds of sources of heat and sunlight.

If ironing is required, it is better to iron a part that is not completely dry with a non-hot iron.

Cashmere

This is a purely woolen expensive fabric, distinguished by a delicate structure. In the manufacture of this remarkable material, the wool of mountain Kashmir goats is used. Real cashmere is very soft and gentle, as well as moody in care and wear.

For this reason, it is better not to wash such a product at home in a washing machine: there is a danger of spoiling it, the material may become deformed, and shrink. The ideal option is to hand over an expensive coat to dry cleaning. If you nevertheless tune in to home wash, this can only be done with your hands.

If there is a small stain on the product, it is not advisable to wash the entire coat once again. You can limit yourself to removing this single contamination with a sponge dipped in soapy water. In this case, there should not be much water so that it does not spread over the entire surface of the product.

Cashmere Coat Hand Wash Algorithm:

  • it should take place in the maximum volume of water: you can collect a whole bath, while the water should not be hot, no more than 25-30 ° C;
  • gel or shampoo for woolen products should be well mixed in water until completely dissolved and a plentiful foam appears;
  • we empty pockets of foreign things and immerse our soaking coat in a filled bathtub, leave it for a short time;
  • with light movements, the product must be wrinkled in water, not rubbed;
  • then rinsing in a large amount of water follows, changing the water several times to completely remove the soap foam from the surface of the fabric;
  • the product must not be twisted categorically;
  • then the coat is laid out horizontally on a terry towel or sheet to remove residual water, while the wet towel changes to dry more than once;
  • when all the water leaves the fabric and it is almost dry, the product is ironed through a soft thin section of the fabric with a not very hot iron.

At the end of ironing, the coat can be placed on a hanger for final drying. It is good if it will be outdoors or in a room with good air circulation.

Boiled wool

Loden, practical and durable material. The looden coat is worn for an extremely long time, it serves its mistress for several years in a row, while maintaining a perfect, almost original appearance.

But time passes, and it requires cleaning or washing. Not always there is a desire and opportunity to turn to dry cleaning services. When it is necessary to remove contamination from a product from boiled wool, this can be made popular in an unusual, but very effective way, the only possible in the case of this material.

You will need a special brush and bread crumb. To begin, spread the coat horizontally, then sprinkle it with bread crumbs. The crumb from bread rolls into buns, taking dirt, pile, dust with it, then you need to remove all this.

It is enough to wipe the coat with a brush or even with a wet palm, previously moistened in water, on the surface to remove the remnants of the spools. After that, you can start wearing an almost new coat again.

Camel's wool

A coat having a camel wool filler can also be easily washed in an automatic machine. Do not be afraid, the procedure is very simple, however, it has Some restrictions inherent in washing natural wool:

  1. you can not wash such products with a simple powder, for this you just need to use a gel or shampoo for wool;
  2. water heating up to +30 degrees is possible;
  3. it is better not to do the spin at all automatically, the product should not be wrung out by hand.

Wool and Polyester

Wash your coat from blended fabric safely and confidently, especially since it is very quick and easy to do. Load outer clothing into the machine along with a liquid detergent for wool, put the appropriate program: Synthetics, Quick Wash. We heat the water no higher than +40 degrees, otherwise it will shrink, and your coat may suddenly become a different size.
