How to clean faux fur at home?

Currently, faux fur is gaining great popularity, and it is not only a matter of nature conservation. People buy fur coats, hats, parks, capes from such material, rugs and other similar products. Thanks to the use of modern technology, today you can get a very attractive synthetic fur, which is much cheaper than natural, but not much inferior to it in beauty. However, sometimes it also gets dirty, and you have to think about how to properly clean it at home.

In the event that the dust appeared on faux fur on a jacket or on another product while it was being stored, it can be disposed of very easily. Take a clean, damp cotton cloth, lay it down, lay the garment on it, and knock it out using a carpet beater. So you can get rid of dust that has accumulated between the villi: it will remain on a damp surface.

If you knocked out a thing, but the dirt has not disappeared, remove it using a soap solution. You need to proceed as follows:

• The surface to be cleaned should be vertical. To do this, hang the fur on the shoulders.
• Take a clear shampoo that does not contain any additional additives. 3 tablespoons will be enough. Dilute shampoo in a liter of liquid, it should be warm. Beat the mixture with your hands: a lush foam should appear.
• Using a brush, carefully apply the product on the surface. Water should not be on the basis of the product.
• If the item has a medium or long pile, clean should be in the direction of its growth. Low fibers are treated in the opposite direction. Artificial fur should be cleaned only this way - this rule can be called the main one.
• Get rid of excess foam using a damp cotton rag. Pre-squeeze it so that it becomes almost dry.
• To make the product drier, wipe it using a clean terry cloth. Then place it outside or in a well-ventilated area. Sun exposure should be prevented. Heaters should not be too close to the product.
• When the pile dries, comb it using a metal comb. Her teeth should be rare.

To make the fur collar fluffy, shiny, mix glycerin (one teaspoon), water (0.5 liters), ethyl alcohol (0.5 liters) and treat it with this mixture. Gently apply the mixture to the pile using a cotton swab or spray.

White fur is cleaned using lemon juice for this:

• In equal proportions, mix water with lemon juice.
• Dip a cotton swab into this mixture and use it to clean the product.
• You can take citric acid powder, not lemon juice. Mix two parts of the liquid with one part of the powder.

Another way that is suitable for white pile is to use hydrogen peroxide:

• Dissolve one tablespoon of three percent peroxide in one liter of water.
• Spread the product, apply the created mixture to it.
• To dry the thing properly, hang it on the street or in a room that is often aired.
• Use a metal comb. Her teeth should be blunt and not very frequent.

To make a thing snow-white, use blue:

• In one liter of water, add a few drops of blue. You should get a pale blue mixture.
• Dip a cotton swab or sponge into the solution, and coat the product.
• Dry the wet product outdoors or in a room that is well ventilated.
• Comb the pile using a metal comb with rare cloves.

To get an effective mixture with which you can clean the white thing, use ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and water. Mix the ingredients in equal proportions. Apply the mixture to the surface using a spray gun. The fur should dry thoroughly. When it becomes dry, take an iron comb and comb it.

In the event that the base of the product is dirty, it is worth washing it. Artificial pile can be washed if it is located on a mixed or synthetic basis. It can be a mixture of mylar, viscose, cotton fibers, field-olefin fibers. Wash the item by hand. To do this, proceed as follows:

• Dissolve a detergent in water that is designed to wash things made of synthetics, silk, wool. It is necessary to take into account the recommendations indicated in the instructions. The temperature of the solution is not more than forty degrees.
• Immerse the product in liquid and gently squeeze it by hand. Do not rub the item too hard. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to straighten the fur later.
• Rinse the pile thoroughly, you will have to change the water several times. The optimum temperature is from 15 to 30 degrees. It is possible to use an antistatic detergent. After it, rinse the thing twice, no more, otherwise the antistatic effect will not persist.

• You can use a terry towel - with it you can remove excess water. Wrap a wet product in it and squeeze slightly.
• Spread the thing and hang it over the bath. You can use a coat hanger for this. When the water stops dripping, move the fur outside or into a room that is well ventilated.
• Comb the dried fur.
• You can iron a bit with a warm iron. This is a good option if the fur is lining.

If you want to get rid of a dirty stain on faux fur, proceed as follows:

• Prepare warm water (0.5 L), dissolve any washing powder (two tablespoons) in it.
• Gently rub the liquid into the product using a sponge. You need to move from the edges to the middle.
• Use a sponge to remove dirt and detergent. If necessary, carry out the procedure again.
• Dry the thing, the temperature should be room temperature.
• When most of the dirt has been removed, wait for it to dry and carefully remove using a brush.

If you can’t get rid of the dirty stain, remove it with gasoline:

1. It must be cleaned, otherwise things will remain stains. To check how clean the solvent is, drop it on paper. It should dry. If a stain remains on the surface of a clean white sheet, do not use gasoline.
2. Dampen a clean cotton cloth or cotton swab with a solvent. Squeeze out material for maximum dryness. Gently wipe the soiled fur with a swab, remove dirt. So clean the cuffs, collars.
3. In some cases, refined gasoline and an absorbent are applied to the pile. The fat is removed with a solvent and absorbed through absorbent material. Gasoline is added to the absorbent.
4. Apply the resulting semi-liquid mixture to the stain, leave it for a while, allow to dry.
5. Then clean it using a brush.

In the process of cleaning the pile, you should adhere to some recommendations:

1. Make sure the selected product is safe. Select a small area for processing. If the pile does not stick together, does not stop shining and does not change the color, it will be possible to clean the whole thing.
2. Before processing the product, wear rubber gloves. If you use ammonia or gasoline, provide ventilation, open the windows so that the room is thoroughly ventilated. Do not keep the item near open flames.
3. Regarding the use of a washing machine to clean faux fur - first you need to think about the possible consequences. Look at the product label, find out what the manufacturer says about the possibility of such a wash. Do not experiment with low-quality fur.

Dry cleaning is a good option if the pollution is very strong. In this case, you should not try to cope with it yourself, otherwise you can ruin the thing. However, not all products can be cleaned this way.
