One of the most popular means of transportation is the bike. And this is not at all surprising - it is easy and simple to move around, there is no additional cost, for example, for gasoline, and, importantly, it is very useful for the physical and emotional state. Yes, the presence of a bicycle and the ability to ride it will not surprise anyone, but the documents on the “iron horse” are something new. It is about what they are needed for and will be discussed in this article.

What it is?

Let’s clear something up right away. Documents for a bicycle are not at all the rights of a cyclist, which indicate his right to drive.

This is the passport or warranty card of the vehicle itself, as well as a check or receipt, which indicates that the bike was purchased.

The following information must be entered in the passport:

  • model name;
  • the color scheme in which it is decorated;
  • frame parameters;
  • how much is the goods;
  • the time when it was sold;
  • name and location of the store that sold it.

    If we talk about the appearance of a bicycle passport, then it can be different. Documents usually look like a sheet of A4 paper or a small book. Very often in it, in addition to the above data, they describe the rules for operating a bike. It is advisable to attach the purchase receipt to your passport or coupon using a stapler. Thus, the necessary documents will be stored together.

    Why are they needed and when is it best to take them with you?

    It’s no secret that hijacking an “iron horse” is a nuisance that almost every vehicle owner can face. It is recently that the number of bicycle thefts has increased dramatically.

    To combat this, the following plan or scheme was developed: each cyclist can be stopped at any time by a policeman who is on duty to present documents for the bicycle.

    They must be at handotherwise, the law enforcement officer has every right to detain the rider, write down all information about him, fix the technical parameters of the bike and take some photos. After - if information is received about the theft of this bike - the police will already have everything necessary to capture the offender.

    The question of in which cases documents for a bicycle must be taken with you, and when you can forget them, is probably inappropriate. Of course, everyone chooses for himself, but it is more advisable to just put two small pieces of paper in your pocket than spend half a day trying to prove that this bike is not stolen.

    And it is worth noting that now in Russia, where such an environmentally friendly, fast and cost-effective means of transportation is increasingly used, the rule came into force: The cyclist must carry documents for his vehicle.

    Where and how to get documents?

    In order to receive such documents, you do not need to stand for hours in an incomprehensible queue and fill out a bunch of papers. All that is needed is not to rush into the store and think, because, just making a purchase, everyone can get this package of documents.

    Based on the above information, we want to give you some useful tips.

    • Buy your bike exclusively at a sports store. In this case, you can be sure that in the end you will receive a warranty card, a passport, and a payment receipt. Also in the store you will be able to show a sample document and the rules for filling it out.
    • If the purchase is made through an online store or the goods are taken “from hand”, insist that you be sent, for example, by e-mail, documents for the vehicle before paying for the goods.

    Also, be sure to verify all the information that is indicated in the technical passport with the goods - everything should correspond.

    How to recover?

    There are situations when documents for a bicycle are lost - this is a matter of life. Then the questions arise, what to do and how to restore them.

    This can only be done if you bought a bike in a store and you still have a purchase receipt.

    All that is needed is to contact the point of sale at which the purchase was made, write a statement and attach a receipt for payment. Only in this case, the store can contact the supplier and help you. Another recovery process is not possible. This once again suggests that buying vehicles is best in certified stores, and not elsewhere.

    Make a few photocopies of documents for the bike (a backup option, so to speak), carry one of them with you, and keep the original at home.

    In this case, the loss of one of the many copies will not be a big loss.
