Bicycles are considered a vehicle that you can just sit on and ride. But in reality this applies only to simple riding models. A bicycle for a trial is a completely different matter, and you must choose it; you need to handle it in a completely different way; the experience of an ordinary cyclist will hardly help here.

Characteristics

You cannot sit on a trial bike in the usual sense of the word.

He simply does not provide for a seat.

If we turn to the English language, it is easy to find that the term “trial” is ambiguous. He can hide:

  • "Attempt";
  • "test";
  • "Race";
  • "Misfortune."

It is difficult even to answer the question, what exactly is the meaning of the name of the bicycle. Probably, these are immediately all the meanings to some extent. After all, the essence of the trial as a sport is to overcome obstacles of various types. Such training should be taken as seriously as possible - after all, the bike trial has already become part of international competitions. Street trial involves overcoming the obstacles encountered in the most ordinary city.

Such competitions are distinguished by:

  • special dynamism;
  • increased saturation of the track with various obstacles;
  • the absence of long ascents and descents (although there are exceptions).

But in Russian practice, another discipline, the urban trial, has spread. It implies skating around the city, accompanied by tricks and various beautiful maneuvers, jumps. There is also a cross-country bike trial when you have to overcome natural barriers.And he completes the list of applications of the trial bike by driving along a professional, purposefully created track (track, as the athletes themselves say).

      Based on all these tests, it is easy to distinguish the most basic features of such a bike:

      • ability to carry significant loads in statics and dynamics;
      • frame stiffness;
      • minimum frame sizes;
      • maximum ease, since the practicing cyclist must grab his "horse" in the jumps;
      • the possibility of instant stop (achieved by disc brakes);
      • the presence of a single gear with a proportion of teeth of 18 to 16 or 22 to 19;
      • increased strength of the pedals and their increased width;
      • the presence on the pedals of spikes that provide improved foot contact;
      • the use of medium-sized (maximum 26 inches) wheels;
      • active use of titanium in the design.

      Varieties and specific models

      Tales for the trial are divided into two main groups - mod and stock. According to them, two main categories of athletes are distinguished - stockers and moderators. As you might guess, a bicycle is called a mod, which was originally created to travel through numerous obstacles. The stock is called a converted mountain bike (in any case, experienced riders only use this meaning of the term).

      Mods have much better dynamics and are distinguished by “agility”, literally tearing them from their place. However, it is better not to count on such a bicycle unit where accuracy is needed. The reason for this weakness is the insufficient size of the propulsors. Therefore, it is difficult to jump onto a border of small width. But the mod is shorter than the drain, and more maneuverable when turning from side to side.

      True, only experienced riders will be able to jump on it above 1.4 m.

      But the stock bike weighs clearly more. Therefore, without taking into account the specific mass and training of athletes, it makes little sense to compare the "jumping" of bikes. Stock is preferable if:

      • in the first place the accuracy of the maneuvers;
      • roll-up is especially important;
      • a major role is played by maintaining balance when riding.

      A good option would be a Czar Ion 24_cstm bike. This model is ideal for street trial lovers. The dimensions of the wheels are 24 inches. By default, the seat is combined. Influenza and a base of 0.975 m are provided.

      An alternative can be considered Czar Neuron 26. Flipper Echo 26x25x2 shows its best side. The Avid BB5 180 brakes also work exceptionally well. The steering angle is 74.5 degrees. Of the other modifications are ideal:

      • Stark Trial S. T. R .;
      • Argon E-118;
      • Polygon Rudge 3 20.

      How to choose

      When choosing a specific device, you must first decide whether you need a folding bike or not. The possibility of folding is especially relevant if the house does not have enough space for storage, or it is often planned to carry the bike over long distances.

      Important: in any case, you should contact specialized sporting equipment stores and large retail outlets from leading companies. It is worth asking how the spare parts for a particular model are available - given the features of the trial, the probability of its breakdown is very high.

      Street trial should be done on heavy, especially strong bicycles.

      Some of them may even, contrary to the general rule, be equipped with seats. A characteristic feature is the presence of slightly raised feathers. This innovation guarantees increased maneuverability and ease of management. However, performing tricks that require rolling through the rear wheel is very problematic.

      An inexpensive bike for a trial is equipped mainly with bulk type bearings. “Closed” products are more expensive, but more practical. The axle of a budget class bike is made of steel, while the axle of an expensive one is made of an alloy based on titanium. The most practical option is to hold the sleeve on the plug with bolts.Typically, the sleeve counts on 28 or 32 spokes; The 36-spoke option should be chosen by experienced cyclists who are clearly aware of the consequences of their actions.

          In terms of quality of work, the hydraulic and mechanical brakes are identical. But the trial bike will inevitably fall. Therefore, mechanical structures, as more resistant to destruction, are much more reliable and safer. When using hydraulics, it is worthwhile additionally installing a booster to increase the rigidity of the system. Always require sellers to obtain an official certificate of conformity. And of course, get acquainted with independent reviews.
