Often, as a result of crossing two breeds, completely charming animals appear. This happened in the case of the appearance of kokapu. This dog is the merit of breeders who have decided to combine the best qualities of a poodle and a cocker spaniel. They did it very well. A cute doggie with a friendly character can conquer any dog breeder.

Origin history

Cocker Poodle is a breed that has appeared relatively recently. However, she has already managed to become popular in many countries. In the 50s of the twentieth century, breeders decided to develop a new variety of dogs. It was assumed excellent health, spectacular appearance and sociability. The parents were a mini-poodle and a cocker spaniel.

Already the first puppies pleased with their kindness, cheerful disposition and good looks. Almost immediately, the new type became widespread. Puppies began to breed and sell. The first representatives of cocker poodles did not have the entire set of planned qualities. However, the happy owners found funny shaggy friends and wonderful companions.

The official club arose in the 90s. A world standard for the new breed was developed. Animal breeding in this period already occurred in only one way: mating adult cockapu. These puppies were rightly considered purebred.

Description

Both adult representatives of this breed and babies are very energetic and active. Dogs are well built, attractive. Their appearance has more in common with poodles than with spaniels.

Wool is often wavy, less often - straight. At the same time, it is quite soft and silky to the touch. The distribution of the coat is uniform. Color is different. The most common options are pets with wool in such shades:

  • snow-white;
  • lactic;
  • beige;
  • pale yellow;
  • brown;
  • the black;
  • silver.

Also, individuals are found whose hair is colored in 2 or more shades. For many kokapu, ears and muzzle stand out in a different color. Some have spots in the chest, on the legs, and elsewhere. Representatives of this breed are distinguished by a strong proportional body. The body is stocky, the back is straight. The head is round, the muzzle is not too elongated forward, but quite expressive.

The eyes are usually brown, beautiful. The look is lively and interested. The nose is dark. The ears are fluffy, neat in shape, slightly elongated. They hang symmetrically on the sides of the muzzle, making her expression even more cute.

The limbs are of medium length. Well-developed muscles allow dogs to quickly move, jump, take part in active games. The tail is quite long. Sometimes it hangs, but more often it is raised.

Varieties of breed

There are 4 main types of kokapu. They vary in size. Allocate:

  • Dwarf Cocker Poodles - the weight of such a pet is not more than 3 kg;
  • that - these are individuals weighing from 3.5 to 5 kg;
  • miniature dogs - animals of this group have a weight of up to 9 kg;
  • individuals "standard" - These are quite large dogs weighing up to 30 kg (today it is rarely possible to meet representatives of this group).

Character

Kokapu are calm, kind and devoted animals. They become true friends of all family members, find a common language with both kids and adult owners. Dogs are affectionate, sociable, not prone to conflict. Cocker poodles are great companion animals.

That is why such a puppy will perfectly take root in a house where there are already pets. He can get along with everyone. And also the dog will accept the new fluffy tenant friendly, even if he has been in the family for a long time and is used to being his only favorite. He will not be jealous and will calmly react to the division of the owner’s attention between all four-legged friends.

Kokapu - Cheerful Animals. They like to play and have fun. In addition, furry pets are very curious. They do not sit still, are interested in everything that happens around.

Not surprisingly, this attitude is contagious. Many owners themselves do not notice how distracted from their worries and begin to enjoy life together with their charming pet.

Like poodles, this breed is highly intelligent. Animals are smart. They easily adapt to circumstances, quickly make decisions, and respond well to training. From the Kokapu Spaniels they got the qualities of a hunting breed. They have a sharp sense of smell, therefore, if desired, the dog can be involved in such activities. However, before acquiring such a four-legged friend, it is worth considering your decision well.

  • Energy a dog can be a virtue in a family with children. They will play and have fun together, because both of them are in constant motion. However, if the owner prefers peace, the activity of the pet may turn into a disadvantage. To some, a doggie may even seem too intrusive: after all, he will walk after him, wishing to take part in all matters, will require attention.
  • Activity A poodle cocker can also manifest itself with its loud, barking bark. It is worth noting that, despite the mind and quick wits, the dog can sometimes bark without a good reason. This point should also be taken into account by those who love silence.
  • Sociability representatives of this breed is another serious aspect. Dogs adore people and need affection. If you ignore the pet, it can be sad or even offended. To cheer him up in this case will be very difficult.

If you still need a funny and noisy furry friend, this breed is for you.If you are ready not just to take the dog out for a walk daily and replenish his bowl with food, but to truly love him and surround him with care, the Cocker Poodle will answer you with devotion and boundless love.

Care

    Cocker poodle is unpretentious. He can adapt to any living conditions. It is enough to give the pet a small corner, because he will not constantly sit there. The curiosity of the dog will not allow him to disregard any event in the house.

    Animals of this breed are very active, they are always happy to go for a walk. Nevertheless, the pet does not require too long walks. Two daily walks in the immediate vicinity will be enough. And it is also advisable to devote at least 15 minutes to games with a furry friend.

    However, if the owner of the kokapu noticed that the dog has recovered too much, measures must be taken. In this case, it is worth increasing the walking time, as well as providing the pet with a sufficient level of physical activity (running, jumping).

    Dwarf dogs can be kept at home. Such a cockapoo is accustomed to a home toilet. They are taken out for a walk only in good weather conditions. So that the pet is not bored, you can buy him various toys in a specialized store.

    In addition to good nutrition and walking, animals need other care. Representatives of this breed practically do not fade. However, for the convenience of the dog itself and to maintain its neat appearance, it is necessary to comb it every 3 days. This rule applies to animals with straight hair, and curly.

    Once a year a professional haircut is recommended. If the owner does not have the opportunity to reduce his furry friend to the hairdresser, he can cut the dog on his own. To do this, you should master the simple technique of performing the procedure and acquire the appropriate tool.

    The hairs of the animal are usually shortened by 4-7 centimeters. At the same time, special attention is paid to the areas around the eyes and on the legs. Mowing is carried out with extreme caution. It is important that the pet does not twitch in the process of getting rid of excess vegetation.

    Cocker poodles are odorless. Nevertheless, water procedures are needed. They are carried out no more than once a month. Otherwise, the coat of the animal will fade, and the skin may become overdried. At the same time, you can’t completely ignore the washing of the dog, because the pet must be clean and tidy. And it is also necessary to conduct regular hygiene procedures for a furry friend.

    • Clean your dog’s ears periodically. To do this, use a wet towel. If this is not done, an inflammatory process may occur.
    • It is important to periodically examine the eyes of the doggie. Once every 2 or 3 weeks they need to be washed carefully. Apply boiled water, a decoction of chamomile or a special remedy intended for this.
    • To exclude the formation of tartar, you need to brush your dog teeth 3 times a week. You can buy a toothbrush for an animal in a specialized store.
    • Typically, representatives of this breed grind their claws naturally. If the dog is not too active, they can be sheared. The procedure is carried out at most once a year.

    Food

      Kokapu loves to eat deliciously. Therefore, the owner should carefully monitor the diet of the pet so that he does not overeat. The menu should be balanced, and it is also important to follow the mode. You need to remember a few simple rules:

      • Put food in a bowl every day at the same time;
      • you can not spoil a dog with snacks, treat her with treats from his table;
      • it is recommended to give the furry pet only special food intended for dogs;
      • additional treats are allowed only for training purposes (this way you can encourage a dog for the correct execution of the command, exemplary behavior).

      If you decide to use natural food, the main element of the menu should be lean meat. It can be combined with vegetables, cereals.As for dairy products, they should be included in the diet twice a week (not more often). With such nutrition, the full development of the animal is impossible without special vitamin complexes.

      If a dog is fed with ready-made feed from the store, she receives all the necessary vitamins and minerals in the process of using these compounds. In this case, additional additives are not needed.

      When choosing food, it is better to pay attention to premium and super-premium products.

      Training

      Kokapu are smart dogs. Therefore, training of any complexity will be given to the owner easily. Animals learn quickly, learn commands and discipline them. During training, you need to be firm, so that the pet understands that this is not a fun game in which you can do whatever you want.

      However, it is important to consider the subtle mental organization of these animals. They are very sensitive to voice intonation. Therefore, do not give commands too harshly or rudely.

      Health

      Kokapa live to 13, and sometimes to 15 years. In order for the pet to be healthy, it must be taken to the veterinarian for a scheduled examination. And also vaccinations cannot be ignored. Breeders were unable to achieve maximum resistance of dogs to diseases. Therefore, kokapu can be susceptible to various ailments. Animals are prone to allergic reactions, epilepsy.

      With improper nutrition, a pet can begin to have problems with the stomach, intestines, and sometimes with the liver. If you do not pay attention to hygiene, the dog may develop dermatitis. Infections can cause hearing and vision diseases.

      To protect the four-legged friend from possible health problems, you need to carefully take care of him, feed him correctly. In this case, this positive being will give you a lot of love, fun and joy.
