When buying a thoroughbred puppy, each owner wants to be sure of his thoroughbredness. Even if the baby looks in accordance with the declared breed in appearance, this cannot be a reliable guarantor, because after a while the traits of a cross or developmental defects can appear.

The guarantee of complete well-being of the puppy in relation to the breed and health is the metric or puppy. This is an official document confirming the breed of the dog.

Features

The puppy’s metric is the equivalent of a person’s birth certificate. But you can get it only if the dog is purchased at a dog club or in a kennel, that is, in an official organization.

When a pet is taken, as they say, of course, no one will provide you with such a document.

Puppy card is a document consisting of 2 parts: main sheet and tear-off coupon. The information is the same there, that is duplicated. This is necessary in order to further exchange the tear-off coupon - to obtain other documents for the dog.

Mandatory data indicated in the puppy:

  • Information about the kennel or club where the dog is purchased: address, contact details;
  • breed of a puppy, its color and brand;
  • gender, puppy's nickname;
  • nicknames and brand of parents;
  • information about the breeder and owner of the dog;
  • if the puppy has been rejected, the reason must be indicated;
  • information about the revision: it is possible that the issuance of the metric to this puppy was postponed due to temporary developmental defects that can be corrected over time (such as, for example, a bite), the date of the revision is indicated on the card, based on which it is possible to issue the document in the future.

    The metric is necessarily certified by the signatures of the breeder and the head of the cynological club, as well as the seal of the RKF - Russian Cynological Federation.

    It is filled in 2 languages: Russian and English. Data is not entered manually, but typed on a computer.

    This format is universal for all breeds. The metric does not indicate the cost of the dog, the price of mating, do not attach photos. The breeder is obliged to issue such a card for all puppies from the litter. It does not stand out for babies who have obvious deformities. The breeder receives a completed form on hand. The organization does not have the right to issue him a blank form. If for any reason the card was lost, it will not be difficult to renew it. To do this, contact the breeder or directly to the organization that issued the document.

    It is worth noting that there are cases when when buying a dog for its metric require a surcharge. This is fundamentally wrong and even illegal, because its price is included in the price of your future pet.

    Terms of issue

    All the efforts to establish a puppy card are on the shoulders of the breeder, but not the owner. He buys a puppy with a ready-made, correctly filled metric. Making it, it is necessary to comply with the mandatory points. Even before breeding dogs, as a result of which puppies are born that require metrics, the breeder submits an application for breeding to the club. The club provides written consent. Future parents undergo a tribal inspection, documented. And only after this procedure it is allowed to breed dogs.

    If this formality was not observed, metrics are not issued to puppies.

    After mating, the owner of the dog informs the club that it took place.

    What is needed to get the metric:

    • written permission to knit;
    • tribal cards of father and mother of puppies;
    • maternal litter accounting card;
    • application for registration of a puppy;
    • litter activation: examination of puppies and establishment of their compliance for registration (activation is carried out in the club).

    If all the formalities have been followed, then for each baby in the litter a metric is issued. After that, the club gives everyone a stamp. Then the breeder must fix it on the ear or stomach of the dog. At the end of all procedures, he pays a fee at the club and receives documents for each approved puppy.

    It is recommended that the owner of the correctness of filling in the cards immediately upon receipt.

    There are 2 organizations that have the right to give permission to issue a metric: these are the RKF and SCOR (Union of Cynological Associations of Russia).

    • RKF - This is an internationally recognized organization, its documents are valid anywhere in the world. But the selection here is very thorough and scrupulous. However, this metric is most valued among dog breeders.
    • SCOR - This is the Russian community. And its influence extends exclusively to the CIS countries. The procedure for obtaining documents in this organization is much simpler than in the RKF.

    Making the metric is troublesome, but if all the requirements are met, the application will be satisfied. But there are also dog breeders who seek to facilitate the procedure for themselves. To do this, they simply fake a document.

    In order not to become a victim of scammers, you can easily verify the authenticity of the card. For example, contact the kennel indicated in the metric and find out if they had such a puppy. Or check the puppy’s stigma in the database to determine its parents.

    Further fate

    Metric is the first document of an animal confirming its belonging to a breed. He allows the dog to participate in exhibitions and shows, but does not give the right to breeding. To get permission to knit, the metric must be exchanged for the pedigree.

    A puppy card is a real quality mark for a puppy. Dogs with such a document will not cause doubts about their purebredness.

    Such paper gives a 100% guarantee of the breed not only the baby, but also his parents. And if this document is drawn up by the breeder himself, then the owner of the pet exchanges it for the pedigree. But if the owner does not want to trouble himself with such formalities, then he can do it through the breeder, paying for his services.

    You can change the puppy’s birth certificate for a passport from 6 months. But this must be done before 1 year and 3 months. Otherwise, you will either have to provide good reasons for the delay, or pay a fine.

    After 15 months, the pedigree is the main document of your pet. Only on its basis, he now has the right to participate in competitions and tribal mating.

    To change the metric to the pedigree, you need to contact to the cynological club of the Federation. It is located at: Moscow, st. Hotel room, house 9. Naturally, not every Russian citizen is convenient to come personally to their destination. therefore the option of sending the required document by mail is possible. A tear-off card card is sent to the RKF, and the owner leaves the main sheet.

    Metric is an official document of a dog confirming its origin and providing the opportunity to pass on its quality mark to offspring. His extradition strictly regulated and subject to accounting. She happens to be a necessary companion for dogs who are trained in a “modeling career”, as well as those who need a pedigree.

    In the next video, you will learn about what types of pedigrees exist, what should be indicated in the puppy’s metric and how to replace the metric with the pedigree.
