It is impossible to imagine a bathroom or shower room without a faucet. Its absence makes it impossible to choose a comfortable temperature and water pressure. One of the most common solutions is a long gander mixer. Consider why this option is so popular.

Features

The spout of the model is considered long if the length of the gander is more than 24 centimeters, which extends the functionality of the product. The mixer with a long spout is suitable for both shower and bath, as well as for the kitchen. Its main feature is the ability to use one gander for the bathtub and sink. In addition to practicality, such a model will be a good design decision.

Based on the features and characteristics, a mixer with a long gander will be the right choice in the following cases:

  • when there is no technical opportunity to make a separate supply for the shower and sink;
  • saving money is required;
  • the washbasin has a large depth and models with a short spout cannot take a comfortable position.

Long spout mixer models have the following advantages:

  • mixer design allows you to install it yourself;
  • conveniently fill containers of various shapes and volumes;
  • a long spout simplifies bathing for children or pets;
  • the structural design of such models is characterized by high wear resistance.

In addition to the listed advantages, they also have disadvantages. Models with a long spout show leakage problems. And for shower cabins, such solutions are unacceptable precisely because of their size.

Varieties

At the moment, there are a huge number of mixers of various shapes, designs and costs on the market. But all models can be divided into 3 large groups according to the control method:

  • single lever;
  • double lever;
  • thermostat;

Let us examine in more detail each of the options presented.

Single lever

A mixer variant in which the adjustment of the force and temperature of the water is carried out by means of a single handle. The mixing process takes place in a cartridge consisting of a pair of plates with holes. Depending on their relative position, the temperature and pressure force of the jet change. This design causes inconvenience when setting the desired mode.

The vulnerability here is the cartridge. With low water quality, plaque forms, leading to breakage. Cartridge failure means replacing the entire mixer. But low cost compensates for this drawback.

Double lever

As the name implies, these are mixers with two control levers. For hot and cold water there is a separate pressure regulating valve. Two types of such structures can be distinguished.

  • With rubber locking cuff. The design of such mixers allows you to rotate the valve at an angle of more than 180 degrees. Such models are maintainable and have the lowest price in their segment.
  • Ceramic. The valve of such a mechanism can be rotated 90 or 180 degrees. The design is quite durable, but unsuitable for repair. Life is most affected by water quality. The lower it is, the higher the probability of damage.

Thermostatic

This is a novelty in the faucet market. Outwardly, they are a panel with buttons for adjusting temperature and pressure, as well as for switching water. There are both mechanical and non-contact models equipped with an LCD screen. Management can be carried out both in manual and in automatic mode. The thermostat also provides constant temperature support.
