Black bathtub taps are rare. Consumers who decide to use such an extraordinary solution should carefully consider all the features and evaluate the nuances of these devices. Only under this condition can you make the right choice.

Features, pros and cons

Speaking of black bathtub taps, one cannot but point out the pompous, even emphasized aristocratic, appearance of such plumbing. It is often believed that a certain mystery and even gloom is characteristic of black. However, it is actively used in interiors. This color fits perfectly into the style of the loft and other currently popular solutions. Not only black color not bad for a classic black and white bathroom.

Many faucets of this color come up with professional designers.. Therefore, they look unusual and in shape. As a result, the cost of products is higher than in the mass segment. The black faucet in the bathroom is easiest to open aesthetically, using similar-in-color accessories (soap dishes, brush holders). Designers celebrate excellent compatibility of black with white, red and gold colors.

But attempts to combine it with other tones will immediately smear the whole effect and significantly ruin the matter. It is worth considering that there are not so many black mixers. Therefore, choosing the right model will not work everywhere and not in any situation. But it immediately stands out visually and becomes the semantic center of the room. In terms of functionality, black sanitary elements are exactly the same as products of other colors with the same function.

But it is worth considering the obvious negative aspects of such plumbing:

  • it is more difficult to care for the dark mixer (droplets, drips, limescale are more noticeable on it);
  • it’s more difficult to find the best combination with plumbing and furniture;
  • even typical black mixers (there are some) are usually more expensive;
  • you will definitely have to create and think over a suitable surroundings, the general environment in order to achieve a harmonious finished image.

Kinds

Dual valve

Such mixers retain a certain popularity. It is they that are optimally suited for the bathroom in a classic spirit. Inside is a crane-box, which triggers the flow of cold or hot water. Two-valve products look impressive and solid.

But from time to time they will have to change the gasket.

The fact is that this part is subject to severe wear. And when it is worn out, the tap starts to leak, to “drip”. In addition, ordinary systems with two valves are not very convenient in practical terms. It is difficult to set a specific temperature. More advanced technology of the latest generation is equipped with a pair of valves with a mechanism that creates rotation.

Ceramic plates having special openings are connected to these valves. Such an improvement slightly simplifies the temperature setting and speeds it up. The valves are no longer spinning 360, but 180 or 90 degrees. The specific indicator is determined by the engineering solution. And yet, even advanced dual-valve systems cannot compete on an equal footing with modern designs.

Single lever

It is the one-lever device that most people willingly buy. And the motives for this choice are understandable. You can use them calmly, even if only one hand is free. Just one lever provides all the options for controlling water flows. They can become stronger and weaker, hotter and colder depending on the movement of the “handle” in two planes.

Single lever mixers are divided into two subgroups: with ball and cartridge. The second option is now becoming more popular. Anyway, single-handle solutions benefit in the speed of opening water and in the speed of shutting off its flow.

Another subtype of single lever mixer is the joystick. Such designs involve the vertical placement of the adjusting knob and are less common.

Cascading

This is not only practical, but also a chic technological solution for the shower. Moreover, many designers believe that cascade mixers are appropriate to put on board the bath. In terms of mechanics, such products differ little from single-lever devices. But water will pour out of them like a waterfall. Cascading mixing devices are thought out by designers very carefully; even backlit solutions are found.

Thermostatic

Such mixers may be of any of the types described above. All the differences are that inside is a temperature controller. It is set up once and is no longer wasted on this time. Note: some models are designed only for setting the temperature in the factory. It is installed once and more settings cannot be changed.

In any case, the thermostat greatly simplifies taking a bath or shower. And not only simplifies, but also makes this procedure much safer. No matter how the pressure in the water supply changes, the temperature-optimal water will pour from the tap. Such a solution is very valuable for families with small children and for people with a very high pain threshold. Anyone who has tried thermostatic mixers at least once does not refuse them.

Contactless

The name of this high-tech device directly says that there is no handle or lever in it. All work is done using an infrared sensor. Electronics gives the command to turn on the water when the hands are close to the tap. It is only a little to distance them, as the flow is blocked. This solution is convenient, hygienic and saves water; some models even have a timer that further limits fluid flow.

Selection tips

Choosing combination faucets (with swivel jib) is not very practical. Yes, they allow you to supply water to the sink and shower at the same time. But such a design is very vulnerable. Be sure to pay attention not only to the brand of the manufacturer, but also to the material from which the mixer is made. You should also take into account such nuances:

  • a good device is never easy;
  • useful equipment aerator;
  • It is advisable to be interested in the possibility of buying spare parts immediately;
  • floor mixers are more suitable for large bathrooms;
  • mortise devices look as original as possible;
  • if it’s very difficult to make a good choice, you should give preference to the model built into the wall.
