The sundress has long been part of the school wardrobe of primary school girls. Its practicality and convenience have already been appreciated by many parents and children. Few mothers know that it is not so difficult to sew a sundress for your daughter.
Today sundresses sew a variety of styles. They will be discussed. A small adulthood in the school image of a first-grader will push her into positive emotions and good study.
Cutting Waist Modeling
A similar model has the style of a skirt-sun and straps. The pattern is designed for size 122-60. Any clothing size is determined by the circumference of the chest. Chest girth divided by 2.
The pattern must be drawn on paper or a newspaper, observing all the calculations, and cut out. The length of the strap to the sundress before cutting needs to be measured directly on the child. Here we reveal a little secret to our mothers and grandmothers.
The length of the straps can be taken with a small margin, so that next year they can be adjusted. It is very easy to do. You need to tangle the strap and pull out the stock of length, then sweep and sew.
And now we proceed to cutting and sewing. Lay out the finished patterns on the fabric. The bodice and skirt are laid out along the shared thread down.
The line of the middle of the back, front and bend of the skirt should lie on the middle (bend) of the fabric. Unfold the skirt as shown.
Circle the pattern on the fabric with chalk or a pencil along the contour and add allowances for the seams. The pattern on the fabric is cut along the line of allowances.
Then we proceed as follows:
- Stitch the bodice along the side lines. All open sections on the product must be processed on an overlock or in a zigzag line. With this operation, the fabric will not crumble and the sundress will last a long time.
- Attach the skirt to the waist line.Pin with pins (if necessary), sweep. Trying on a sundress with a draft is required. This must be done to correct all inaccuracies before sewing. Only after trying on the waist is a machine line.
- Now you need to sew a zipper in the middle of the back. To make it convenient for the girl to take off and put on a sundress, it is recommended to take the zipper with a long line. The length of the zipper should go on the skirt of the sundress.
How to sew in a zipper, see the video:
- Straps folded facing inwards and sew. Next turn out. The seam can be ironed with an iron in the middle of the strap, then the front side of the straps will look neat and beautiful.
- The place on the bodice where the straps are sewn should be closed with a stitching.
- The hem of the sundress is bent with a seam in a hem with a closed cut on the machine or manually with hidden stitches from the wrong side.
How to simulate a sundress for a first grader with a collar?
This model can be sewn on the basis of this pattern. The drawing is 140 cm tall, the length of the product should be adjusted before cutting. The style is given without tucks and folds.
Sewing it is very simple:
- Sew and stitch the shoulder and side seams. If during fitting the fabric will puff, then there are not enough tucks on the chest.
- Sew a zipper in the middle of the back.
- Fold the bottom of the product. The description of this operation is indicated in the previous model.
Attention deserves a collar that will adorn school clothes. In the photo you can see how the collar looks.
The following work needs to be done:
- Draw the neckline of the back and front separately on paper. This can be done at the stage when only the shoulder seams are sewn (or to make a paper blank for turning). The collar is 5 cm wide. Length is the length of the entire neck.
- The collar is cut out in 3 details: 2 main and one on the non-woven. Flizelin will make the collar more dense. The collar will be better to keep its shape, respectively, it is better to lie on the product.
Stitched on the outside. Release the collar and straighten the seam with your hands. Attention! There are rounded places in the collar.
On a stitched collar in these places, notches (in the form of small triangles) are needed. Manicure scissors to carefully and evenly cut them. Thus, excess tissue will go away. And the collar will be straight from the front.
How to cut, sew a collar - recommendations in the attached video.
The collar can be decorated with beautiful narrow lace. Lace is sewn along with the collar on the outside. If there is uncertainty about the tailoring of the collar, then you can buy it at any sewing store (we take all parts of the product with us to the store to try on the collar).
- Sew the collar in the neck. Close the open section with an oblique trim.
- I will process it with a sharpening or oblique inlay. A slanting inlay can be taken to the tone of a sundress or the contrast of the product. This is done at the discretion of the seamstress. The photo shows examples of the processing of the neck and armhole.
Dress with pleated skirt
A very beautiful and interesting model is obtained with folds. You can sew such a sarafan by a pattern with a collar. But the drawing needs to be changed.
It must be cut along the waistline, and the skirt should be modified taking into account folds. A double width is taken for each crease. Example: the width of the fold is 1.5 cm (1.5 cm x2 = 3 cm). Starting from the middle of the front and back, set aside the width of the fold. There may be several folds. In finished form, the skirt pattern should look like this: an additional part of the folds are pasted into the skirt drawing. The photo shows an example of how to modify the pattern for the folds.
After cutting, proceed to the following operations:
- Evenly lay folds on 2 parts of the skirt.
- Folds to notice.
- Connect the back and front with the skirt.
- Align the waistline and flash on the typewriter.
- The following sequence of work will be similar to making a sundress with a collar.
A beautiful and evenly sewn sundress will surely please her mistress. Any sundress is combined from 2 fabrics. The selected two pieces of material should be in harmony with each other. The combination of the product is as follows: the bodice is cut out of one color, the skirt is cut on the second piece of fabric.
Today in schools you can see most of the girls in sundresses. After all, they can be combined both with a blouse, and with a turtleneck or a thin jacket with a long sleeve. Another look looks very beautiful: a sundress and a warm blouse.
