Gorgeous girls and women often suffer from a lack of variety of sundresses for their attractive figures. After all, styles designed for slim ladies are not always suitable for girls of size XL. But this problem is solvable. Using special patterns, you can sew more than one sundress with your own hands.

Boho style patterns

In order to sew a sarafan in this style, you need to buy a 3-meter cut of any lightweight fabric 150 cm wide. In addition to the fabric, you will need a decorative cord 1.5 m long, two buttons to match the selected fabric, threads, pins and of course a sewing machine.

Before cutting it is better to soak the fabric, especially if it contains a large percentage of cotton.

Fold the prepared tissue in half and cut into two equal squares. Each blank must be cut off so that the fabric does not warp during sewing. Then you need to process all sides of each square. In order for the future seam to be even, it is better to steam it with an iron and then sweep it. After that, flash each side.

It turned out two squares with dimensions of 145x145 cm. Next, we put both canvases in the form of a rhombus on each other and mark two points on each side, departing from the corner in each direction for half of your wide step. The distance from one point to another will be equal to the size of a wide step. Then we try on the workpiece and randomly outline two more points on each side in the upper part. The distance from the corner to the point is only necessary to hold the fabric.

The most important thing is to outline the place where the shoulder seams will be located. Soft flowing folds should be present on the chest.Also, when trying on, it is necessary to determine the length of the armhole.

We outline the length of the armhole and the width of the shoulder seam (5 cm), having previously bent the corner of the fabric inward. We scour each side and try on again to make sure that the planned sizes of the armhole and shoulder seams are correct.

Before stitching both blanks, you must first prepare the cord, dividing it into 4 parts. Then insert 2 parts into the corners under the armhole and sew the side and shoulder seams. Sewing canvases can be from the wrong side as well as from the front, departing from the edge of 1 mm. The seam on the front side provides some advantages: it saves time, fixes the wing well on each side, and if necessary, you can quickly expand the seam.

Now you can insert the remaining two parts into the shoulder seams, manually from the wrong side. They perform two functions: they fix the sundress by tying it to the bra strap and drape the fabric on the chest.

We try on a sundress and fix the fabric with the help of laces in the corners, tie it in the back like an apron. If desired, you can tie a front fabric. The lower corner of the sundress is fixed with a button.

We sew a summer dress sundress

For sewing a summer dress-sundress, you will need 1 m of light fabric with a width of 150 cm. This length is sufficient for sizes from 52 to 58.

We take the fabric and, stepping back from the edge of a width of 10 cm, cut off a strip (future strap) equal to the length of the cut - 1 m. We sew the strap, after bending the sections inward. After that, we fold the fabric in half and cut out rectangular blanks measuring 70x100 cm. We sew the side seams, departing from the top edge of 20 cm.

We bend the bottom of the future sundress and process the armhole on each side. Now you can start processing the top edge. To do this, we bend the edge of the upper part by 15 mm, for convenience, you can iron it and sew it on a typewriter. In the resulting bend, insert the prepared strap and try on.

If desired, you can slightly expand the bottom of the sundress, especially if the fabric is cotton.

Options for a simple beach sundress

It will not take a lot of time to sew a simple beach sundress.

We take 2 or 3 m of fabric, it all depends on your size, a standard width of 150 cm. In order to calculate the length you need to add 3-4 cm to the size of the circumference of the hips, necessary for freedom of fitting and add a few centimeters to the drapery. A width of 150 cm is used for the length of the sundress.

Fold the fabric and make a cut for the future neckline. In this model, there will be only one seam, and will be located on the back. It is unnecessary to finish the seam to the end, there should remain a segment equal to the length of the neckline cut.

Now we process the incision. It can either be bent inward and stitched, or processed using a slanting inlay. The bottom of the product is bent, and then hemmed to a height convenient for you. The upper part of the sundress is bent and processed under the drawstring. We insert the ribbon and the sundress is ready.

Sundress can be worn in many ways. If the neckline is placed at the front, then the seam will turn out at the back. But you can also turn the low-cut neckline, shift it to the side and it will become an armhole, and the seam will be on the side.

You can sew a sundress on the straps, where the shirt is taken on the basis of its size. We take the fabric, fold it in half, and attach a T-shirt to it. Carefully circle the upper part with allowance for seams, and from the armhole draw a straight line to the full width of the fabric. You should get a figure resembling a trapezoid. To check the symmetry, fold in half and trim. If the chest is large, then the front must be cut longer. This is necessary so that it does not rise up.

Now we knit side and shoulder seams, try on, and if everything suits, then we sew.

Floor model

Sewing a sundress on the floor will require a piece of lightweight fabric, depending on your size. For size 44-46 - 180 cm, 48-50 - 325 cm, 52-54 - 330 cm of a standard width of 150 cm.

For decoration:

  • 60 cm tussa silk 135 cm wide;
  • elastic tape 120 cm wide 1 cm;
  • satin ribbon five cuts of 150 cm;
  • non-woven;
  • hidden lightning 60 cm.

To begin with, we cut out blanks from the main fabric: in front - 1 pc., Back - 2 pcs., Drawstring strips 3.5 cm wide 1.34-1.38 m long for 44-46 sizes, 1.45-1.51 m for size 48-50, 1.58-1.65 m for size 52-54. From the silk of tussa we cut out the neck detail - 2 pcs., The detail for finishing the armhole of the front - 4 pcs., For the back - 4 pcs. Glue non-woven on parts from the finishing fabric.

We connect the back and front, stitching on the sides, leave a cut on the left side. Sew the details of the lining of the armholes and the neck with side seams. On each part of the trim, trim the allowances close to the stitch, then put under the inner part and sew close to the seam. We turn the internal parts of the additional parts to the wrong side and steam off the edges. Combine the open sections of the pegs and sew them into the armholes, and then cut the allowances close to the seam, mark and iron.

To collect the neck and back from the main fabric, while taking into account the correspondence of the location of marks 1 and 2 on the main parts and the additional finishing for the neck. Then sew the finishing detail of the neck to the main part. To allow for iron allowance. Now attach the zipper.

Take the inner part of the trim neckline (not duplicated) and make an allowance for the seam along a long cut. Sew in the neck, and then attach the prepared inner part and sew to the zipper ribbons. Sweep inner part with pre-tucked edges. On the front side along the seam, make the stitch as close as possible to the seam and also along the side edges.

Sew a drawstring along the waistline. Now we process the bottom of the sundress. We bend the edges, iron and build up, backing off 3 cm. Now it is necessary to process the previously left incision located on the left side. We twist the edges, iron and stitch them, having previously retreated 2 cm from the edge. In the upper parts make transverse stitches.

Now we decorate with rhinestones, depending on the location of the ornament. We paste the prepared satin ribbons into the drawstring, while the edges should be of different lengths. You can simply stitch them to the side seam on the drawstring line.

Modeling a winter business sundress

In the cold season, you can sew a sundress with cuts on the basis of a fitted dress. The main thing is to make changes on the back and shelf correctly.

First, make changes to the detail of the back. From the point located in the center of the neckline we retreat 10 cm and put a point. Then, from the top of the neck, lay 4 cm (on the shoulder). From the resulting point, measure 8 cm down. Then you need to connect the last received point with the lower neck in the center. We cut out the unnecessary upper back.

Now measure the points on the shelf. As in the back, from the center point, we go down 13 cm. Now we mark 2 cm from the top of the neckline, along the shoulder and down 15 cm. We postpone 17 cm along the tuck line, starting from the top. Now we consistently connect the obtained points located below the neck. Cut off the top. We make an incision along the undercut line.

We lay out the resulting pattern on the fabric so that the center of the back and the shelf passes exactly along the fold of the fabric. An example of the layout of patterns on fabric, see below.

When sketching parts, do not forget to make allowances for seams. Bottom - 5-6 cm, side lines - 3 cm, armhole - 1.5 cm, shoulder line - 2 cm, neckline - 1 cm.

How to sew a sundress without a pattern? A big surprise is prepared for girls who are just beginning to comprehend the basics of sewing.
