Almost every woman has a beautiful manicure and long nails. But sometimes troubles happen, and at the most inopportune moment, the nail may break. Walking with a broken nail is not only not very aesthetically pleasing, but also uncomfortable, and sometimes painful. How can a broken nail be grown, can it be repaired?
What to do if a nail breaks?
A broken nail is a small tragedy in a woman’s life. There are several options for what to do in this situation, To get rid of discomfort and keep the length of the manicure:
- trim all nails to the length of the broken;
- try to repair the nail itself at home;
- contact the master of the nail industry.
The choice of a solution to the problem depends not only on personal preference, but also on the severity of the failure. So, repairing a nail that is broken by more than a third is impractical, since the design will be fragile, soon the nail will fly off. If the crack is small, then you can try to apply a patch. This method is suitable if the crack is not deep and appears along the line of the “smile”.
If the nail broke off at the very root, it is better to contact the manicure master, then a professional will help you increase the desired length using tips or using a regular gel. But there are procedures that in no case should be carried out. For example, glue the crack with super-glue. This material contains aggressive substances that, getting on the nail plate, corrode it, injuring the surface even more. This material can only be used on acrylic tips.
If the nail has broken off and injured the skin, then in no case should you use acetone products to treat the crack, since this substance should not get into the wound. If the crack is small, do not postpone the repair, as it can go further. Then restore the nail yourself, without resorting to the services of professionals, you will not succeed.
Repairing a marigold at home
If a crack on the nail has formed on the side, you can try to glue it. This procedure will help maintain the length of the manicure until the moment when you can visit the salon. And if the breakdown is small, then this will allow to grow the nail without cutting it.
For repair it is necessary to make the following manipulations.
- To process a nail with a disinfectant. To do this, you can use hydrogen peroxide, a solution of chlorhexidine or another antiseptic.
- Sand the crack with a polishing file. The nail should become even, it should not cling to anything.
- Prepare patches. To do this, use a piece of thin cloth, a special rag tape or tea bag. The size of the first patch should be slightly larger than the crack parameters. The second should correspond to the size of the nail plate.
- Use glue for tips. It must be applied to the nail plate and to the smaller patch. Glue the fabric, allow to dry a little. Then cover the surface of the nail again and glue a larger piece of tissue. Top again with glue. Next, you need to polish the surface of the nail with a buff and make the desired design
Escalation
If the nail is broken, but at the same time there is a free edge, then building is done in the usual way. If the nail broke under the root, and the fingertip protrudes strongly above the plate, then the extension technology here will change slightly. Since acrylic tips are now practically not used to increase the length of a manicure, you can build up a broken nail with a gel. To do this, you first need to prepare a nail.
If the skin was injured when the nail plate was broken, then the wound should be healed first. To do this, cut the nail along the crack line, treat the dermis with an antiseptic. Next, stop the bleeding. Press the wound with a cotton pad and hold for a few minutes. Put your finger first in cold water and hold there for 15 minutes. This will help reduce pain. Then move your finger in a warm solution of table or sea salt (add 1 teaspoon of salt to 1 liter of water). This procedure will speed up the drying of the wound.
Pat your hands with a dry towel and apply an antibiotic ointment, cover the wound with a band-aid. Leave the nail for at least three days, so that the wound is healed, after which it will be possible to proceed to building. We do a manicure: remove the pterygium, cut the cuticle, polish the skin around the nail. Using a buff, remove the glossy gloss from the nail plate. Degrease and apply a primer, let the surface dry for 20 seconds.
Now apply the gel. To do this, use a brush to stretch the layer on the nail itself, as well as on a towering cushion above it. This layer should perfectly align the nail plate, as well as create a free edge, for which it will subsequently be possible to fix the shape. Dry the gel in a lamp. Using a metal pusher, we separate the skin from the gel.
Set the paper form. Now you can design the necessary length and shape of the future nail. To do this, you can use any gel sculptor, be it transparent or colored material. Dry again in the lamp. We apply the design to the extended nail and fix it with a finishing gel. Now you again have beautiful extended nails of the required length.
