Most residents of small apartments are faced with the problem of choosing a suitable sofa that could combine several functions at once. Indeed, in the conditions of saving free space on the couch, almost half of the home time passes: here you can comfortably relax after a working day, read a newspaper or watch TV, on the day off the couch is a convenient place to chat with friends, and at night it serves the majority of its owners the bed.

Among the wide assortment of upholstered furniture, "euro books" are very popular, and not least because of their reliability and affordable price.

Mechanism features

The Eurobook consists of a seat and a back. The role of the backrest can be performed by several rectangular pillows, in this case, such a model can be placed close to the wall, since when folding it does not need any free space between the back and the wall: the pillows are moved and stacked next to the extended front part of the sofa.

There are models with and without armrests. As a compromise option, in some models there is only one armrest, which, on the one hand, makes the sofa more compact, and on the other hand, more comfortable for sleeping, as the pillow will rest on the armrest and will not fall to the floor.

Due to the large depth of the seat, some models provide for the presence of small upholstered soft pillows so that they can be placed under the back while sitting. The Eurobook mechanism is extremely simple. Complex leverage systems and the operation of pneumatic elements are not provided here. Here's how all the parts of this simple pull-out mechanism work:

  • the front half of the sofa is equipped with special rollers from below;
  • these rollers roll along wooden or metal rails;
  • the sliding part moves forward to the stop, the role of which is usually played by the front side of the laundry niche;
  • supports are either legs or wheels that roll on the floor while unfolding the sofa.

A design feature of the “Eurobook” is that its mechanism, thanks to the minimum number of component nodes, almost never fails. However, in the event that a particular model is made of cheap materials, there is still the possibility of its breakdown with active use.

How to decompose?

Unfolding "Eurobook" by such an algorithm.

  1. Cushions are removed.
  2. With one hand, the front horizontal block is taken in the middle and stretched to the end on itself. Perhaps the design of the model provides a special strap, which is convenient to hold during this stage.
  3. At the wall of the sofa there is a free niche where you can put small sofa cushions or other things that are unnecessary during sleep.
  4. The back rests on this vacant niche or sofa cushions fit, replacing the whole vertical half.
  5. Thanks to the same fillers, both halves of the sofa in the unfolded state are on the same level, but a gap forms between them, which can be compensated by laying a thick blanket, blanket or even an additional mattress on top.

As already mentioned, the transformation mechanism of the “Eurobook” sofa is very wear-resistant, however, in order for the thing to serve as long as possible, it is necessary to carry out a routine inspection from time to time, tighten the weakened bolts and lubricate the metal components.

Due to its simple design, such a sofa can be disassembled quite easily, so you can carry out all the measures to repair the product at home.

How to fold?

If in the evening there is a need to lay out the sofa to turn it into a place to sleep, then in the morning the opposite process occurs. What needs to be done to neatly fold the sofa back?

  1. We return to a vertical position the lowered back or pillows lying on a niche for linen.
  2. Hand click on the extended half of the sofa. This half leaves for its original place.

There is a variation of the Eurobook mechanism called tick-tock, such a model is characterized by an even more perfect principle of transformation. The fact is that when the front block is pushed forward, the legs of the usual Eurobooks or wheels slide on the floor, often causing damage to the material from which the floor is made. The laminate and fleecy carpet, on which the wheels roll over the tracks over time, are especially given.

The design of the “tick-tock” is supposed to save the owners of such sofas from this inconvenience. Sofas with a tick-to-tack mechanism are equipped with special levers that push the front block up and forward, forcing it to "step" immediately to the desired distance. Such mechanisms are quite complex, which, of course, affects the price of sofas.

Recommendations

To extend the life of the sofa, "Eurobooks", you must follow simple rules:

  • such sofas should not be installed closer than half a meter from the heat source;
  • if you have an uneven floor, it is necessary to adjust the height of each supporting leg to protect its parts from loosening;
  • the entire process of folding the sofa into the bed should be done very carefully, without jerking or jolting, so as not to break the mechanical parts;
  • you should not allow children to use such a sofa instead of a trampoline, and you should not sit on the armrests and back of the sofa;
  • notice any minor malfunctions on time and fix them right away.

If you follow these simple recommendations, the sofa “eurobook” will retain its original qualities for a long time, making it an indispensable piece of furniture in any small apartment.
