The peak of popularity of various glitters and shimmering stones came in about the 90s. past century. At that time, the trend was unusual and bright outfits, large fleeces and a radiant manicure. Only a few decades have passed and glossy coatings have again come into fashion.
Features
Women were interested in the art of decorating the human body in ancient times. To this day, the fair sex has not lost interest in the decor, which is manifested in the application of makeup, wearing jewelry and, of course, in manicure. One of the most stylish solutions for decorating nails is a coating with flickering sparkles, the luxury and expression of which speaks for itself.
Sequins are small round plates made of synthetic material, they differ in pronounced reflective characteristics. When light hits the sparkles, the rays begin to refract - as a result, the plates begin to shine and shine.
The basis for the manufacture of such decorative elements is mica, as well as polyethylene, less commonly thermoplastic or metallized foil. They can have a pronounced shape or are shimmering tiny dust.
The advantages of this type of coating are obvious:
- decor with glitter is characterized by increased resistance;
- the effect of shining overflow is always in trend, while it suits clothes of any style and color;
- gel polish with shine allows you to adjust the length and shape of the nail plate, however, in this case, knowledge of a special extension technique is required;
- materials are available, they are sold in most specialized stores and at the same time have a fairly affordable cost;
- for applying a stylish coating does not need to buy expensive tools;
- in fact, the design of the nail design with sparkles is limited only by your imagination.
However, glitter has its drawbacks:
- the glitter coating is often not so easy to remove, usually for this purpose a remover is applied to the nail plate and held with an effort for several seconds;
- if you intend to apply a glitter pattern, you are unlikely to be able to do this without special professional skills;
- for applying dry glitter, you should purchase a set of applicators, as well as tweezers and sponges;
- sparkles should be fixed correctly, otherwise the coating will be very short-lived;
- the process of applying the radiant powder must be controlled, if you overdo it, then instead of a stylish coating you will get a voluminous decor that will cling to clothes and hair, which will cause a lot of inconvenience.
Types of Sequins
Professionals in nail decor are well aware that glitter can vary in size - from the minimum, which are called "shimmer" to the well-known glitter, whose particles are much larger. In the shape of the plate are triangular, sometimes square, diamond-shaped or hexagonal, however, some manufacturers produce sparkles of other types.
Spangles in the form of release can be dry or wet. The former are sold in plastic or glass containers of small size in the form of powder, but wet ones are placed in a specific composition, for example, in a transparent or decorative varnish, which greatly simplifies their application to the nail plate.
The main varieties of sequins produced by modern manufacturers are the following.
- Shiny dust - in its structure, it is similar to acrylic pollen and is an ultrafine shimmering plate that should be literally rubbed into the applied coating. A manicure with a similar varnish looks solemn, but at the same time quite discreet, so it can be done both for work and for a friendly party.
- Sand - Another type of dry spangle, the size of its particles is larger than pollen, but much smaller than rhinestones.
- Rhinestones - This is the most popular material in nail decoration, which has been trending for many years, both in everyday life and for evening onions.
- Openwork sequins called plates that are made in curly carved shapes, they can look like zodiac signs, hearts, stars, rhombuses or flowers. A separate variety are holographic fibers to create stylish gradient stretch marks.
Which type of glitter to choose depends on personal preferences. Some people prefer dry material, considering it the most convenient and practical - it is easily distributed over the coating, allowing you to adjust the density of application and occupancy. At the same time, others are opting for liquid formulations, since making such a decor is much faster.
Fashion trends
The basic trends of nail design with sparkles can be divided into categories according to several basic decoration methods.
- The simplest option is to cover the entire nail with sequins, usually such a manicure involves staining with glitter only one or two fingers, while all the others are painted with ordinary varnish.
- Marigolds look very stylish when only their individual parts are covered with rhinestones and sequins, for example, the tip of a fingernail or its lunula; in addition, pictures made by brilliance are very beautiful and aesthetic.
- On short nails, a manicure with luxurious rhinestones, for example, from Swarovski, is won. In order for such a design to be harmonious, it is worth choosing elements of small diameter, large rhinestones in nail art indicate a lack of taste and aesthetics in creating your own image.
- For many years, the ombre has always been in the top of stylish trends. At the peak of popularity this season, the application of gloss on the very tips of the nails, while the shade of glitter must certainly be a couple of tones lighter or, conversely, darker than the base, while the density of such a coating should vary in gradient.
- Always a fashionable jacket is often made with sequins, as a rule, they are applied to the overgrown part of the marigold, while variations with a touch of a “smile” are only welcome.
- Ornaments and various patterns are often made with sparkles, while whole images are created from glitter, and flickering accents are placed.
- In especially solemn occasions, the whole nail is covered with sequins, while several shades are often combined, either similar in color or, on the contrary, in contrast.
- Over the course of several seasons, fashionistas have used such a technique in which the base of the nail plate is covered with glitter, and the shape of this decor can vary: in most cases, they perform a month-long bend into the cuticle area or half-fold towards the outer edge.
- Sequins are often applied diagonally, here both the lower fragment and the upper one can be covered with glitter, and sometimes a simple strip is applied with sequins.
- A dot coating is considered very fashionable, stylish polka dots have not so long ago switched from clothes to a fingernail, at the same time, a base of absolutely any color can be used, and sparkles are selected in a different tone.
- But where you can show your imagination - this is a coating in the style of assorted. At the same time, a wide variety of decors, geometric shapes and abstract ornaments using gloss are applied to the nail plates, the most important thing is to strictly observe the general style.
As for the shades that combine well with sparkles - there are no restrictions.
- Light coloured - It looks very gentle, feminine and romantic in combination with flickering dust at the tips of the nails. The most expressive technique is considered to be a glitter jacket, this idea is optimal for those women who are tired of traditional classic decors.
For many years, the service jacket does not give up its leading position - it simply changes its appearance, where the laconicism of white is replaced by a radiance of brilliance.
- Nude - This is a natural manicure that never loses its relevance. The decor is quite simple: the nails are covered with a transparent base, and small sparkles are placed on it in a chaotic manner. Such a coating looks unusual, but always chic and expensive. Nude tones include light beige, milky, creamy, as well as powdery colors.
- Dark color with sequins it looks really luxurious, this is a suitable option for sexy and fatal women, and nowadays the dark one is as versatile as it is light: it can be used both in the office and at a gala event.
Maroon, black, and also violet and brown shades are combined with shine very stylishly; this technique is especially good on shortened nails.
- Bright colors optimal for spring-summer manicure. All shades of yellow, orange, mint or turquoise - you can set the most daring experiments, stretch the shades using the ombre technique or choose matte colors, and the shine will give them even more playfulness and juiciness.
- Red manicure It has remained in the trend for many decades, and how can it go out of fashion if the cosmetics industry offers the widest selection of shades: this is coral, and cherry, and burgundy. With such tones, contrasting sparkles that can emphasize the courage and sexuality of a lady are well combined.
- It looks sophisticated and romantic pink with glitter on the nails of young girls. This is a truly "girl" decor, which represents a great variety of all kinds of combinations. For example, you can draw flickering white lines on the plate, or you can decorate the tip of the nail with sequins of dark lilac or purple.
- But perhaps the best goes with sequins ultramarine and blue color - This is a real find for fashionistas who are used to swimming in the public eye. A rich pigment with shimmering sparkles of white, green or red creates unique decors and invariably impresses others.
- Grey colour judging by the reviews, it seems simple to many, but in combination with blue or silver sparkles, he begins to play with new colors that are harmoniously combined with various images of the girl.
How to make a manicure yourself?
If the application of ordinary glossy varnish does not present absolutely any difficulties, since it is simple to use, then fixing the dry shine at home is much more difficult.
There are several basic methods for fixing dry glitter to your nails, you can use one of them.
With a dry brush
To do this, you can take even the simplest stationery brush, which is designed for watercolor paints.
To get started, they do a trimmed or hardware manicure: clean the nails from the remnants of the decorative coating, cut or move the cuticle and keratinized nail rollers. Prepared nails are varnished, and then shine is applied to each of them, paying special attention to each nail in turn. To do this, dip the brush into a container with glitter: in this case, too much flickering dust can stick, then you need to gently tap on it with your finger, and then blow it on the nail. A stream of air will remove excess gloss. Fix this coating with a special top.
Using a varnish brush
Everything is elementary here: you need to dip the brush into a tube and collect the required amount of varnish, then quickly lower it into sparkles and apply the composition to the nail plate. Then it remains only to wait for the varnish to solidify completely and the stylish manicure is ready.
Application to clearcoat
A colored varnish is put on the treated nails, then a paint brush is dipped in a transparent one and some separate part of the nail platinum is covered with it. After that, you need to take a dry brush, scoop up the sparkles and sprinkle from the brush on a fresh, colorless coating. The excess amount is blown off and fixed with a fixative.
- For larger sequins and rhinestones, coating is best done using attachment. Previously, the nails are covered with any basic shade, then with a toothpick you need to pick up each ointment and fix it on the nail. The decorated surface is coated with a transparent composition and waiting for solidification.
- To depict a reverse jacket with sequins, you need to coat your nails with any basic shade and wait until the varnish completely hardens. After that, you should take a little colorless varnish and depict a crescent moon on a lunula with a thin brush, then pour sparkles on the surface of the nail and carefully blow off all the excess. You can complete such a manicure by applying a top.
- Coating in the style of “honeycomb” for long nails looks quite non-trivial, it requires rather large sparkles in the form of hexagons. To begin with, the nails are painted with base varnish, and then glued sequins with a needle so that they are located one to one. This is a rather scrupulous job, however, as a result you will get an ideal shimmering surface that can only be covered with a fixative - otherwise large sequins will cling to your hair and clothes.
It is not necessary to stain the entire nail plate with sequins or only part of it: thin strips can be drawn on the surface with a brush for drawing, the lines can be longitudinal, transverse or diagonal. Usually they are applied with transparent varnish, and then the entire surface is covered with sparkles. In the same technique any other patterns are drawn - monograms or hearts.
