Probably, every girl once encountered such a problem as an ugly stain from lipstick that arose on the collar of her favorite blouse or cuff of an expensive dress. The first reaction to such a find is anger and despair that you will have to part with a sweetheart thing, because it is known that it is almost impossible to remove lipstick in a regular machine, and dry cleaners are not always accurate in working with clothes, so there is an even greater risk ruin a thing. But do not rush to despair - in fact there are a huge number of ways to quickly and without harm to things to remove an ugly stain from lipstick.

What to do first?

First you need to calm down and not make hasty decisions, because most of the things in such a situation were hopelessly ruined not only by lipstick, but by the thoughtless actions of its owner. It is advised first of all to remove the maximum amount of lipstick with a dry paper towel, but in no case do it with rubbing movements, it is better gently and easily touch a cloth with a napkin, turning the paper over with a clean edge each time, until the surface of the tissue after touching the clothes is white.

But by no means don't do it with rubbing movements, it is better to gently and easily touch the tissue with a tissue, turning the paper over with a clean edge each time until the surface of the tissue after touching the clothes is white. However, remember that any manipulations with the fabric must be carried out immediately,otherwise, cosmetics are deeply absorbed into the material.

After the lipstick is cleansed as much as possible, you can proceed with further actions, and here a lot depends on what kind of thing you inadvertently ruined.

How to clean a stain from a white thing?

The worst nightmare of any fashionista is an ugly bright red lipstick stain on a snow-white shirt. And despite the fact that our psyche perceives dirt on white things much more sharply than on a motley blouse or dress with small peas, in fact, white things are much easier to “resuscitate”, if only because in this case we can safely pour bleach on the affected garment.

But if you are against such a radical way to solve the problem, try one of the options below:

  • Salt and lemon juice must be found in the kitchen of any housewife. All that needs to be done is to mix these two components in a 1: 1 ratio, smear the stain with massage movements, leave it to soak for 30 minutes and after this time, rinse the thing properly. If this method does not work, try to treat the stain with table vinegar. In combination with the previous exposure to salt and lemon, vinegar should finally remove the stain from the white cloth.

By the way, salt can be replaced with baking soda, keeping the proportions.

  • Ammonia perfect in that situation if you find a spot after some time, and it has already managed to properly "eat" into the tissue. In order to remove the stain in this way, you need to take two small (by the size of the stain) pieces of white cloth, one of which you put under the dirt, and cover the second with the stain. Further actions are extremely simple - you rub the stain with the help of the upper cloth until it disappears.

Of course, both pieces of fabric must first be properly moistened in ammonia.

  • PetrolAs you know, it will perfectly cope with any pollution. You just need to collect a small amount of it on a cotton wool and wipe the stain. If the fabric retains gasoline stains - get rid of them with vinegar.
  • Hydrogen peroxide - also a good option. True, here you need to be patient, the stain needs to be processed many times, until it disappears completely.
  • The last way, perhaps the easiest to implement at home - use the most common dishwashing liquid. As you know, these products include components that actively struggle with oil-based materials, so boldly apply the product on a stain, leave it there for a couple of minutes, rub it thoroughly with a brush and rinse thoroughly under running water.

By the way, you can take laundry soap instead of dishwashing detergent.

The main condition when working with any of the above methods is to thoroughly rinse the fabric, otherwise the product is firmly absorbed into the fabric and the result may be the most unpredictable.

How to save colored things?

To clean red lipstick from a color shirt or colorful dress is also not so difficult:

  1. You can use the most common means for removing makeup from the eyes, especially if one is oily - this type of makeup is designed to cleanse the face, including waterproof makeup, so that it can cope with regular lipstick quickly.
  2. Often it is recommended to use turpentine in this situation, but the effect will be much more noticeable if you mix ether with it in equal proportions. After processing the pollution, you need to wash the thing in the usual way, and then rinse it properly in cold water. Sometimes after such manipulations the thing retains a pungent smell of turpentine - in this case, use any fabric softener for the next wash.
  3. A small amount of pre-warmed glycerin can also help - the stain needs to be treated with it, and after an hour, remove the remaining lipstick with a brush and wash clothes as usual.
  4. Ammonia (aka ammonia) will save not only your snow-white thing, but also any colored garment. However, remember the safety precautions and use it only in a well-ventilated area.
  5. If none of these substances are right at your fingertips, try using toothpaste. To do this, you need to take a new, not yet used (but soft) toothbrush, apply toothpaste to the stain, how to rub the stain, wait about fifteen minutes and start washing. You can still do the same, but with shaving cream. They say this also gives a result without risking harm to the tissue.

By the way, if none of these methods helped, there is the last option - take some talcum powder and a blotter, pour talcum powder on the stain, put paper on the stain and under it, and then go over the thing with an iron (though not hot, but just a little warmed up).

How to save a denim thing?

Despite the fact that when people talk about the trail of lipstick on clothes, the imagination immediately draws a snow-white men's shirt with a characteristic mark in the form of a kiss, statistics say that in two out of five cases jeans are soiled. It would seem that a slightly rough denim can not be saved - the more you rub the stain, the more it is absorbed. But experts and in this case have a couple of recommendations:

  • take medical alcohol (or vodka if it is not) and a cotton swab, treat the stain until it disappears, and then wash the thing as you usually do;
  • hydrogen peroxide is also suitable, although it is better to use it if the jeans are light, because processing with peroxide will give a slight whitening effect.

What to do if outerwear is dirty?

Of course, wiping off a stain from lipstick from a leather jacket or, say, raincoat fabric, is not difficult, for this special recommendations are not even needed. But if your favorite velor or wool coat is dirty, you will have to try. But panic is also not worth it - this problem is solved, if the stain is relatively fresh. You need to take any stain remover, which does not include chlorine, and treat the stain.

In extreme cases, ordinary medical alcohol will do. But if the stain has dried up, only dry cleaning will help here.

Down jackets in this regard are not so whimsical - you can safely treat the stain with turpentine, and then wash this place as thoroughly as possible with a damp sponge. Another technique, albeit very non-standard at first glance, is an ordinary hair spray. It needs to be sprayed onto a stain, and then with a brush to remove the lipstick from the fabric, however, this will work only if you do not let the varnish dry on clothes.

By the way, it is no secret that there are special products, special cleaning pencils, which are specially invented for removing stains from cosmetics from clothes.

The following video will tell you more about how to remove traces of lipstick from outerwear.

For which fabrics which method is preferable?

Despite the fact that the choice of the method of stain removal is more dependent on the color of the matter, do not forget that not every fabric can withstand the effects of gasoline or ammonia. True, if a thing stained with lipstick is made of expensive and delicate fabric, it is better not to even think about any homemade way to remove stains. But still, a couple of recommendations on the compatibility of tissues and cleaning agents:

  • Feel free to use soda with lemon juice when working with any tissue, as well as toothpaste;
  • wool is best treated with products that contain alcohol;
  • Cotton will not be affected by contact with hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing detergent.

And remember that any stain needs to be cleaned, moving from the edge of the pollution to its middle, and if the stain is too large, it is recommended to start cleaning from the wrong side of the matter. This will avoid a divorce.
