The quilling technique is one of the areas of applied art, which today is of constant interest. Quilling attracts with the ease of creating crafts and their delicate look, which is why he received the maximum use in creating New Year's decor.
Features
Quilling is widely popular in creating stylish Christmas-tree decorations and postcards; from twisted paper, you can create Christmas trees and Christmas balls. The creation of decorative holiday elements using the quilling technique involves the manufacture of multi-colored blanks from paper - a thin strip is screwed onto the base, then a tight spiral is slightly dissolved and the desired element is given the desired shape, and finally fixed with glue.
To create Christmas decorations, blanks are most often formed in the form of a drop or a half-bomb, the choice directly depends on the features of the craft.
However, other techniques may come in handy.
- "Eye". To do this, the round workpiece should be clamped on the sides.
- "Square". In this case, you first need to form an “eye”, then rotate the workpiece in the vertical direction and clamp the part again, but from the side.
- "Rhombus". Such a part is easily obtained from a square shape if it is flattened slightly.
- "Triangle". First you need to make a drop, then grab the corner and slightly flatten the base of the resulting triangle.
- "Arrow". To obtain this shape, the preform in the form of a triangle is pressed with one finger in the middle of the short side inward.
- "Crescent". Such a blank is made in the same way as the “eye”, only it is given a curved shape, for this the corners of the element are plucked with a slight shift, and not opposite each other.
For the manufacture of New Year's cards, open configurations are popular.
- "Heart". In this case, the strip of paper must be folded in the middle, and the free parts-halves folded inward.
- "Horns". The strips are also folded in the middle, and both halves are twisted to the outside.
- "Twig". In this embodiment, the paper is folded in a ratio of approximately 1 to 2, and at the end is twisted in the same direction.
Each of these techniques can be used to create stylish Christmas decorations.
Tools and materials
The popularity of quilling is explained by the fact that you do not need to purchase expensive equipment to create decor elements, and all the necessary materials are sold in any store at a reasonable price. We draw attention to the fact that when cutting plain paper, its edges give a white tint, so you need special paper for quilling - it is sold in all stores for needlework. If we are talking about creating snowflakes and other white decorations, then you can use the most ordinary paper for the printer.
- A pen. It is used for winding, as an alternative, you can use a tube for drinks, a rod, a toothpick, a match or even a needle.
- Template. It is a ruler with circles cut out in it of different diameters, it can be purchased in departments selling stationery.
- Tweezers. It is better to give preference to tweezers with pointed ends, they are designed to glue individual elements that can be difficult to grab with your fingers.
- Well, of course, for work you will need glue. For quilling usually use glue stick or PVA, it must be transparent. Keep in mind that you need it quite a bit - otherwise you may warp the paper.
Execution technique
In the style of quilling, you can perform many interesting New Year's crafts. It can be New Year's toys, balls, paintings, as well as wreaths, bells and many other decorations and compositions. We offer you the simplest schemes that are suitable for children and beginners.
"Snowflake"
For work you will need:
- strips of white or silver paper;
- scissors;
- matches;
- beads or rhinestones;
- threads.
The process of making a snowflake involves a few simple steps. First you need to wind a strip of quilling paper on a match, for this purpose, with the help of a scalpel or a sharp knife, slightly break its edge and clamp the paper in it. Then you need to carefully wind the strip on the base, do not do it too tight, otherwise the part may come out ugly. To make a snowflake, 12 blanks will be required, respectively, all actions should be performed 12 times.
After that, you can proceed directly to the formation of snowflakes. The round billet, carefully squeezing and unclenching, give the necessary slightly elongated shape - it is best to take the “eye” technique as the basis. After all the elements are ready, you should carefully fix them together, forming a snowflake.
Now it remains only to fix beads, beads or other decorative elements around the perimeter of the entire product. A small loop is made of thread and attached to one of the beams. This craft can be a worthy decoration of the Christmas tree.
"Christmas tree"
To make a Christmas tree you should prepare:
- a match, stick or toothpick;
- green shade paper;
- scrapbooking paper;
- beads;
- sparkles or glitter;
- printouts with the words of congratulations;
- hole punch for decorating corners;
- tape.
On the prepared strip of paper, make frequent cuts, not reaching the edge of 1-2 mm. In order to speed up this process, strips can be folded in 3 pieces, and then cut. The strips thus prepared are neatly wound around the rod and fixed with glue stick. At the output, you should get a pretty tight bud.
For one Christmas tree, 10 such spins are necessary, so all actions should be repeated 10 times. All buds should be glued to plain paper and fluffed with your fingers - you may notice that they seem to blossom. The corners of the rectangles to give a decorative effect, process openwork hole punch. Form a bow from the ribbon, glue the beads or rhinestones.
Small sheets of scrapbooking paper are cut into squares with a side of about 1 cm, using the cutting method, form a white snowdrift. To create a Christmas tree trunk, you can take a pen from a regular paper bag. After that, it remains only to glue and collect all the blanks, as a result you will get a voluminous green tree.
The top of this beauty can be decorated with a gilded star. Do not forget about the decoration for the Christmas tree - fix the beads, they will play the role of Christmas balls, after that, apply glitter and artificial snow.
In the quilling technique, you can make many of the most original jewelry with your own hands. Each of them can be a good gift for a friend or relative for the New Year.
