To correctly plan the useful area of the kitchen, you need to make the right choice of a kitchen set. Because it is precisely the pieces of furniture that occupy most of the usable area. And the problem of lack of free space depends not on the chairs or the table, the refrigerator or the sofa, but on the number and size of the cabinets. An important aspect is the height of the cabinets. In the article we will focus on mounted samples, their dimensions and shapes.
What determines the location?
When choosing the height of the upper cabinets, it is required to take into account a number of conditions that affect their localization.
The main thing is comfort for those who have more control over the kitchen.
The headset basically consists of two levels - lower and upper. The mounting height of structures fixed at the 2nd level is often determined by the growth of the person who is mainly involved in cooking.
It is important that the lower shelves of the upper cabinet are approximately at eye level. Then free access to especially frequently used products and objects is provided. Otherwise, you need to use some kind of stand.
Too low hanging cabinets is also undesirable. This is due to inconvenience when working on the countertop (tabletop, tabletop) and lesser possibilities for arranging all kinds of objects (shelves for seasonings, hangers for kitchen utensils and other) on the wall between the levels of the cabinets.
It is also of great importance that often various electrical appliances are placed under the wall cabinets. If the bottom plane of the module is located close to the working surface, its external appearance from the functioning equipment is capable of suffering (not to mention a high degree of fire hazard). Steam from a slow cooker or a kettle will spoil the lining in a short time.
Of considerable importance in choosing the placement of modules and their dimensions is the level of ceilings in the kitchen. Large kitchens give the designer the opportunity to arrange all pieces of furniture, including hinged ones, focusing on the concepts of comfort and aesthetics. When the area is small, you have to order smaller cabinets, or place standard ones at the smallest height from the working surface.
When calculating the fixing height of the modules, their installation location and purpose are also provided. They can be installed not only above the countertop, but also in other areas, for example, above a cooker hood or refrigerator. Thereby It is necessary to navigate the standards of kitchen cabinets offered by manufacturers.
Standard options for kitchen sets
As already mentioned, the modules of kitchen furniture can be located on the lower and upper levels. Their standard dimensions were established taking into account the average values of the physical characteristics of a person, mainly his height.
GOST regulates indicators for certain sizes of interior items installed in the kitchen:
- module height (including table plate) - 85-90 cm;
- working depth of the table cover - 60 cm;
- the internal depth of the lower cabinet is not less than 46 cm;
- internal depth of the wall cabinet - not less than 27 cm;
- height from the floor to the upper shelf of the mounted module - no more than 190 cm.
In fact, the sizes offered to the user of the furniture are often slightly different from the prescribed parameters.
Dimensions of wall-mounted kitchen cabinets
The standard dimensions of kitchen hanging cabinets have the following parameters - they can be 36 cm, 72 cm or 92 cm in height.
The standard depth of kitchen wall cabinets reaches 30 centimeters. If you need modules with greater depth, then you need to make such a product to order.
When the cabinet is required with less depth, it will not only need to be made to order, but also take into account the dimensions of those items that will be contained in it.
In height, kitchen cabinets do not have standard criteria. Manufacturers of kitchen furniture do not look at such characteristics differently, or rather, if you want to buy a standard kitchen set in a complete set, then height hinged cabinets can be from 25 to 100 centimeters.
Changing the dimensions in height, depth or width of the hanging cabinet will certainly affect the price.
The distance between the shelves in the cabinet can be 20 or 30 centimeters. Despite the fact that existing standards set the maximum mounting height of the top element to 190 centimeters, however, this value can also be exceeded. Moreover, trying to maximize the functionality of the entire area of a small kitchen, and mounting structures almost to the ceiling, many consciously put up with possible difficulties.
Despite the generally accepted standards for wall cabinets, taking into account the comfort of their use, if desired, the homeowner can install higher structures. Frequent operation of the upper shelves in them is not very convenient, especially to those who did not go tall.
Nevertheless, to place items and products that are not so often used, it is quite practical.
Design solutions for a kitchen set involve a variety of options for mounting wall structures:
- on the same level;
- at different distances from the working surface and ceiling.
Of course, if you can order furniture with your own parameters, then you can take into account all the needs and maximize the functionality of the available area.
At what distance from the floor should I fasten?
In order to work comfortably in the kitchen, and household appliances fit on the countertop, you do not need to hang the cabinet below 45 cm from the working surface. If the growth of the hostess exceeds the average, this indicator can be increased to 60 cm.
There is a dependence of the mounting height of the modules (lower part) on human growth:
- with human height 175-178 cm the distance from the bottom surface of the hanging cabinets to the floor is 150 centimeters;
- with growth 185 cm - from the bottom surface of the hanging cabinets to the floor 160 centimeters;
- at 200 cm - the distance to the floor is 175 centimeters.
When installing cabinets in which exhaust structures are integrated, the location standards of this equipment become predetermining.
In kitchens equipped with gas stoves, cooker hoods cannot be mounted below 75 cm above the hob. When it comes to electric stoves, in this case it is advisable to withstand at least 65 centimeters.
Upper cabinets can be fixed on the wall, where there are no floor cabinets and work surface. With this option, they are guided by ergonomics and design of the entire headset. The same approach is used when installing furniture over household appliances (microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, and so on).
When calculating the distance from the working surface to the bottom of the furniture to be hung, it is first of all necessary to rely not on standards, but on your own wishes. Ignoring the established standards, some place cabinets at a height exceeding 70 centimeters, if they feel more comfortable.
The upper cabinets placed not according to the rules can significantly complicate the cooking process for the hostess. This can lead not only to overwork soon, but also threatens injuries. There are frequent cases when the cook hooks his head on the cabinet. And the reason for this is just its low location.
The height of hanging cabinets is an important component. It determines to what extent the kitchen will be functional. This indicator is provided even when creating a project. When establishing all sizes, they are repelled by the fact that they are going to keep them.
