Spirulina masks are very popular today. Such procedures are widely used to rejuvenate and cleanse the skin in salons and at home.

The composition and properties of the product

Spirulina is a type of spiral algae that has lived on Earth for over a million years. The composition of the plant includes a huge amount of minerals, organic compounds, vitamins and essential acids. So, thanks to the presence of arachidonic, eicosapentaenoic, stearidonic and docosahexaenoic acids, spirulina has a powerful anti-inflammatory and drying effect, as well as relieving acne and eliminating sebum. The trace elements that make up the algae activate the intracellular processes and significantly slow down the aging of cells. Pigments significantly improve complexion and reliably protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.

Due to the presence of thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinamide and pyridoxine, cellular respiration is enhanced., inflammatory processes are stopped, the condition with psoriasis is eased. Ascorbic acid, which is part of spirulina, gives the skin elasticity, whitens age spots and stimulates collagen synthesis, and vitamins of group D perfectly tone and refresh the skin. Of great anti-aging importance is retinol, which is part of the algae. Thanks to this vitamin, the face relief is noticeably smoothed out, deep wrinkles are straightened out, the epidermis is effectively rejuvenated.

The scope of spirulina is quite wide. It includes traditional medicine, the field of nutrition and cosmetology. For cosmetic purposes, the plant is used to strengthen hair and in the manufacture of face masks.

Indications for use

The use of spirulina as the main component of face masks is advisable in several cases. First of all, it is the presence of very dry and sensitive skin or, conversely, very oily. In the latter case, the sebaceous glands function so actively that an ugly gloss is constantly present on the face. In addition to skin problems, spirulina effectively fights the first signs of facial aging, which appear in the form of facial wrinkles and nasolabial folds. Algae masks are also suitable for those who want to get rid of freckles, seasonal pigmentation and old scars.

It is worth noting that spirulina is not an elixir of youth. It helps to only partially get rid of existing problems or significantly reduce their manifestation. In addition to the use of drugs contained in the composition of the algae, there are contraindications. So, the use of masks with spirulina is not recommended for persons with impaired thyroid function or with individual intolerance to iodine. And for people with neoplasms of unclear etiology on their skin, the use of spirulina is completely prohibited. It is also impossible to apply algae to the skin during pregnancy and lactation.
