How to smooth the jacket?

After each wash or long-term storage, the problem of ironing outer clothing often arises, and jackets are no exception. Methods of smoothing things entirely depend on the material of its manufacture, the degree of wrinkling and style. The simplest solution to this problem is the use of dry cleaning services, however, this method is not always available for a number of material and other reasons, and you can also put things in order with your own hands at home.

To iron a synthetic jacket, you must carefully read the recommendations on the label. Typically, products made of nylon, consisting of 100% polyester, should be ironed at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees. This corresponds to one division on the switch and is usually indicated by the word “silk”.

The most popular type of jacket synthetics is Bologna. The material is made in the form of a nylon or nylon fabric impregnated with polymer acrylate or silicone compounds, and is characterized by high performance properties. Bologna jackets repel moisture well and practically do not wrinkle. However, as a result of prolonged or improper storage, numerous creases and folds may form on the product.

You can correct the situation quickly enough and without the help of an iron. To do this, place the jacket on a wooden broad coat hanger, fasten the lock, tuck pockets, straighten the collar, sleeves and hang the product on a rope above the bathtub. The door to the room must be tightly closed.Then you need to turn on the hot water tap and leave it open for 15 minutes. As a result, the bathroom will quickly fill up with steam, which will effectively smooth out the wrinkled jacket. After the specified time, the product should be moved to a dry room and left until completely dry.

The next way to iron a Bologna jacket is an iron. However, as mentioned above, the Bologna consists entirely of artificial fibers, so it can be ironed at a minimum temperature. It is recommended to iron the Bologna jacket on the wrong side, after spreading wet gauze on top. At the same time, it is forbidden to press on the iron and linger on one section for more than 2 seconds.

In addition, it is impossible to iron dirty and stale synthetic things. This can lead to the fact that subtle greasy and dirty spots instantly appear, as a result, the product will have to be sent to the wash. By the way, the need to smooth them depends on the proper drying of the jackets. If, after washing, hang the synthetic thing on your shoulders, fasten it and level it with wet hands, in most cases ironing may not be necessary at all.

An excellent result is the use of a steam generator or iron with the option of vertical steam. To steam off a membrane windbreaker, a jacket on a synthetic winterizer or a down jacket with metallic thread, you need to hang the product on wooden shoulders, fill the sleeves with folded towels and carefully process the folds and creases. At the same time, it is necessary to hold the device at a distance of 10 to 15 cm from the product, moving in a direction from top to bottom. First of all, it is necessary to smooth the collar, sleeves and only then go to the back and shelves.

In addition, it will be necessary to ensure an even supply of dry steam, since water dropping on a synthetic thing will leave traces on it that will be clearly visible after drying.

Natural and artificial suede is a popular jacket fabric and is highly decorative and has a long service life. However, ironing such material is highly undesirable. To smooth creases and folds, it is recommended to use the steam bath method described above, or the use of a steam generator. In this case, it is also necessary to ensure that the steam does not contain large drops of water. After steaming, a jacket should be walked with a clean, dry brush, removing excess moisture in this way and combing the pile. Then the product is hung on the shoulders in a dry room and left in this position until completely dry.

The most popular substitute for genuine leather is dermatin, which is a fabric on a cotton or synthetic basis. It is possible to iron dermatine jackets, however, this is only done on the wrong side and with the steam function turned off. In addition, the front sides should not touch each other when ironing. To prevent this from happening accidentally, a dry cloth is laid between them. The leatherette should be ironed at the lowest thermal mode corresponding to one point on the switch.

Smoothing creases on a dermatine can also be done using a steam generator. To do this, the polyurethane jacket must be turned out, placed on the shoulders, fastened with locks, stuffed in sleeves and steamed at a distance of 15-20 cm.Then, without turning out, the jacket is sent to dry in a warm, ventilated area away from heating appliances. However, drafts should also not be allowed. Leatherette does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature and can be deformed.

If it is not possible to use a steam generator or an iron with a function of vertical steam, you can try to straighten the jacket with a spray gun. To do this, the product is also turned inside out, hung on the shoulders and evenly spray warm water. Then the wrinkles are straightened with wet hands, sprayed again and left to dry.

An equally effective way is to use a solution consisting of a washing conditioner, water and vinegar. To do this, all three components are mixed in equal parts, poured into a spray bottle and sprayed onto the wrinkled part of the jacket from the front side. Next, the product is left for one hour, after which the resulting spots are removed with a wet rag.

Genuine leather jackets do not go out of fashion for many years. However, in order for the skin to not lose its performance and decorative properties for a long time, it must be properly ironed. To do this, you should first inspect the thing and remove any dirt from its surface. Then you need to set the iron to the minimum thermal mode corresponding to the inscription "silk" or one point.

Next, you need to lay out the product on an ironing board and spread on top a thick paper sheet or a clean, slightly moistened fabric without a clearly defined texture. It is necessary to iron only the rumpled areas, without pressing on the iron and not lingering in one place for more than 1-2 seconds. This method of smoothing suits jackets without embossed images and embossing. Such products are smoothed out on a steam bath or lubricated with glycerin, liquid paraffin, castor oil or peanut oil and hung on a coat hanger. As a rule, after a few hours, the skin straightens under its own weight and begins to look like new.

Given certain difficulties with smoothing outerwear, it will be much easier to learn how to store it correctly. This subsequently either completely eliminates the worries of ironing things, or minimizes them. So, regardless of the term, the jacket should be stored only on wide wooden shoulders. A thin metal model of a hanger in this case will not work. During long-term storage, all zippers and buttons must be fastened, and twisted towels should be put in the sleeves.

However, the sleeves should not be tightly filled, otherwise the skin may stretch, then the jacket will be damaged. It is only necessary to give them subtle forms, which will be enough to ensure that at the beginning of the season, socks are not puzzled by smoothing. Then the product must be placed in a separate case, making sure that it is dry. Only clean and dried things can be stored; otherwise, the product will become stale and will require washing or dry cleaning.
