Any thing in front of the sock, especially wrinkling, should be ironed so that it looks neat. In the case of a jacket, this is especially important, since such clothes are mainly used for work, formal occasions or social events. For proper ironing, there are certain rules that will not allow to spoil this beautiful element of clothing.

Site preparation

In order to iron a thing and not spoil it, you will need:

  • an ironing board having a narrow nozzle;
  • iron with a steamer (all modern models have such a function);
  • cotton or gauze;
  • atomizer filled with water.

It is not recommended to try to iron a thing on a table covered with a towel and similar fabrics, since there is a danger of spoiling it or not achieving the desired result when ironing. The workplace should be well lit, and the cord should not interfere with the movement of the iron. When ironing clothes with the right hand, the rounded end of the ironing board should be on the left, while working with the left hand - on the right.

Jacket preparation

In order to iron a thing and not spoil it, you will need:

  • an ironing board having a narrow nozzle;
  • iron with a steamer (all modern models have such a function);
  • cotton or gauze;
  • atomizer filled with water.

From the pockets of the jacket you need to remove all foreign objects. It is important to know that you should not iron a thing if it is dusty or dirty with something. Iron clothes immediately after they have been washed.

If the jacket has been kept in a closet for a long time, it will probably be dusty, but not so much that it is washed once again. You can knock out a thing on the street or clean it with a slightly damp brush.

The jacket should be checked for holes, puffs and other damage, and then carefully examine the label to familiarize yourself with the rules for ironing this particular type of fabric.

Step-by-step instruction

Jacket ironing is performed in a certain order so as not to spoil the clothes.

  • Pockets They need to be turned out and ironed through a damp cloth or gauze, then returned to their normal state and ironed already tucked.
  • Sleeves and shoulder seams. This moment of ironing is considered the most difficult, because the sleeves should be without arrows. Such parts of clothing should be steamed. You can tidy up these elements of the jacket only when using an iron. If this is not available, then a rolled-up towel will do. He or an iron is inserted into each sleeve and placed under the “shoulders”, after which this section of the jacket is smoothed over with gauze.
  • Picks, shelf and back. At first, all this is ironed from the inside, after which it is turned back and steam-processed through a cloth moistened with water.
  • Collar and lapels. Ironed from the outside. The fabric in the corners should be slightly pulled by the nose of the iron.

You should know this moment: if the jacket turned out to be wrinkled, then when ironing, they use not only wet gauze, but also wet the fabric of the clothes themselves abundantly - this way it is easier to bring a thing into a beautiful, pristine look.

Without gauze or the use of additional fabric, a thing can be ironed only from the inside at a low temperature. However, it is better to use fabric to avoid damage to the material.

Features

All materials require a different approach. For quality care of the thing, it is worth considering the features of the fabric and recommendations for ironing and steaming.

  • Leather jackets. Leather clothes are best not ironed. If the leather jacket is wrinkled, then you can simply hang it on the shoulders of the right size and wait a few days until the folds and creases separate themselves. You can also hold the jacket over a container of hot water for 20 minutes. In the event that these options do not help, the leather product can be ironed with a slightly warmed iron, but only on the lining side.
  • Linen jacket. Such jackets, as a rule, are not lined, so they are ironed on each side and with the use of steam. At the same time, it is worth remembering that flax is a material that is extremely easy to crease. Smoothing it to its ideal state is almost impossible, so minor folds on it are perfectly acceptable.
  • Cotton This material tolerates heat well, but in order to be well-ironed, it is worth wetting gauze before work and moistening the product itself well with moisture.
  • Silk. This fabric is of natural origin, so in most cases it is not recommended to iron it. Synthetic materials need to be ironed at the lowest possible temperature of the soleplate.
  • Woolen. The wool is ironed at a low temperature, while the iron cannot be pressed tightly to the clothes, otherwise, shiny areas that will spoil the appearance will remain on it. By the end of the work, the jacket should be only slightly wet or completely dry - incomplete drying can lead to shrinkage of the fabric. If the item has sat down after washing, then in the process of smoothing it can be stretched.
  • Corduroy. It is better to iron such fabrics without a steamer, from the wrong side, putting a facial soft fabric. If the jacket still needs to be ironed from the outside, then the iron is moved exclusively in the direction of the pile.
  • Synthetic jacket. Since this material is of artificial origin, it is extremely difficult to mash it. If creases appear, it is easy to get rid of them with a slightly heated iron without using a steamer.

How to iron and steam a children's jacket?

Jackets for children, and this is usually a school uniform, are made of mixed fabrics, so when ironing them, the iron should not be heated to more than 150 degrees. To avoid shine after ironing, gauze or thin cotton wipes are used during operation. The pockets, collar and lapels of the jacket are not smoothed out - it is better to process them using steaming.

Bubbles may appear on clothes after ironing, for example, on sleeves. Then they are straightened, wet cloth is placed on the convex places and ironed until the unevenness disappears.

What if there is no iron?

Sometimes there are situations when you need to urgently iron a jacket, but there is no iron at hand. Such an event is not uncommon on business trips when a jacket, for example, has long been folded in a bag. But it can be steamed at home.

In this case, you can resort to the following instructions:

  • fill the bathtub with hot water and close the door tightly so that the room is filled with steam;
  • take a suitably sized coat hanger and hang a jacket on them, spreading all the folds on it;
  • leave the item in the bathroom for 20-25 minutes;
  • after the designated time, hang out the jacket is dried in the room or in the fresh air, without removing it from the hanger.

Use clothes only when it is completely dry, otherwise the thing will be washed even harder.

These tips will help your clothes look beautiful even when there is no iron.

If you follow all the simple ironing rules and follow the instructions, while looking at the tags, the jacket will be in good shape for a long time. However, if there is no certainty that during independent work with clothes the fabric or elements of the jacket will not be damaged, it is better not to risk it and hand over the clothes to dry cleaning.
