Children, whose mothers and grandmothers can needlework, are truly lucky, because they can wear beautiful clothes created by caring, loving hands. In addition, no one else in the world has such things. Hand-sewn and do-it-yourself items are also a budget way to upgrade a kids wardrobe.
In today's article, we will tell you how to crochet a skirt for a girl. An openwork skirt will be a wonderful summer gift for your little fashionista. We will introduce you to the various ways of knitting children's skirts, as well as give some recommendations on how and with what is best to wear such things.
Knitting popular patterns
A hook is more suitable for creating lightweight summer skirts with intricate patterns. Knitting needles are best left for thicker, winter items - warm dresses, sweaters, etc. We invite you to get acquainted with two interesting models of skirts for girls that can be crocheted. Knitting patterns are quite simple, so even a beginner needlewoman can master them.
Zigzag
Zigzag is one of the most beautiful and popular crochet patterns. It looks especially impressive when knitted from threads of different colors, so it is recommended to use yarn of several shades to create this model.
To tie a skirt with a zigzag pattern for a girl of primary school age, you will need:
- several skeins of bright threads (it is better to choose 100% cotton);
- hook number 1;
- scissors;
- pin for marking rows.
To determine the required amount of yarn, we recommend that you first knit a small sample - so you can understand how many threads are spent on a given pattern and roughly calculate the desired number of skeins. Then you can begin directly to work on the skirt.
In the instructions for creating the pattern, we used the following abbreviations:
- "VP" - an air loop;
- "Runway" - air lift loop;
- "CCH" - double crochet;
- "SS2N" - a column with two double crochets;
- "RLS" - single crochet;
- "SS" is the connecting column.
We knit the product circularly, moving in a direction from the bottom up. The number of stitches in the set should be divided by 17.
I row: 3 runways, 4 CCHs with one vertex, (5 CCHs, 5 CCHs with a common base, 5 CCHs, 5 CCHs with one vertex), repeat the items in brackets, end row 1 of the SS;
II row: 1 runway, then until the end of the row we knit RLS, end row 1 of the SS.
Next, we knit each odd row as I, and each even - as II. Every 2 rows we change the color of the threads. Having connected 18 rows, the next row needs to be knitted, making reductions, since here we will begin to form the waist for the skirt. We make reductions this way: instead of 5 CCH with a common base, we knit 3 CCH with a common base. Then we knit with a yarn of a different shade instead of 3 CCH 1 CCH. We reduce the loops around the edges, one on the one and the other. Next, we knit round one row of CCH. The next row is the RLS. Then repeat the last two rows five times. At the end we knit around the 5 rows of sc. Fasten the thread, hide the tail and cut it.
The skirt for the girl knitted in a zigzag is ready!
Layered Skirt
Your little princess will surely like a magnificent, openwork crocheted skirt. In order for the skirt to be voluminous, we suggest that you knit several tiers-ruffles. For work, thin cotton threads and a hook No. 1.5 are required. At your request, you can knit a plain or multi-colored skirt. In the latter case, you will need yarn of 2 or 4 different shades. In addition to the hook and thread, you will need a thin elastic band to match - with its help we can make the product belt more elastic. The knitting pattern, which we give below, is designed for a skirt for a child of 4 or 5 years of age.
The skirt belt will be crocheted using loin lace technique. We collect 18 VP, then we knit CCH and close the row in the ring. Next, we knit: 1 CCH, 2 VP to the end of the row. In every 8th loop we knit an increase according to the scheme: SSN, 2 VP, SSN. How many increases you make depends on how magnificent the skirt turns out. We knit such images 16 rows. After completing work on the fillet grid, without breaking the thread, we proceed to the creation of the first tier of the skirt.
I row: 3 Runway, 2 SNN from the same base (2 VP, skip 2 loops, 5 SNN), continue to knit the items in brackets, complete row 2 of SSN, which we knit in the first loop of the row, then we knit 1 SS in the third runway.
II row: 3 runways, 2 VP, 1 SNN from the same base, 2 SSN, (3 VP, 2 SSN in the next two SSNs, go to the third of the five SSNs of the previous row and knit SSN, VP, SSN in it, then knit in the next SSN 1 SSN), the items in parentheses are repeated until the end of the row, we complete row 2 of the SSN and SS.
III row: 4 runways (in the arch of 2 VP we knit 3 SS2N, 2 VP, 3 SS2N, then in the arch of 2 VP we knit 1 SBN, skip the next 2 SSN, we knit 1 SS2N in the third SSN), repeat the items in brackets to the end of the row, complete row 3 SS.
IV row: (2 SS2N, in the arch of 2 VP we knit 3 SS2N, 2 VP, 3 SS2N, then we knit 2 SS2N, skip 5 loops), repeat the items in brackets to the end of the row, complete row 2 SS.
V row: (3 SS2N, in the arch of 2 VP we knit 3 SS2N, 2 VP, 3 SS2N, then we knit 3 SS2N, skip 4 loops), repeat the items in brackets to the end of the row, complete row 1 SS.
VI row: (3 SS2N in the arch of 2 VP we knit 2 SS2N, 5 VP, 2 SS2N, then we knit 2 VP), repeat the items in brackets to the end of the row, replace the 1st SS2N with 4 runways, complete the row of 3 SS.
VII row: (1 runway, 4 times we knit pico + 2 sc, 1 sc, skip 5 VP), repeat the items with brackets to the end of the row, complete row 1 of the SS.
We knit the second tier of the skirt in the same way in the first row of fillet lace, and the third tier in the 8th row.
A multi-tiered children's skirt can be decorated on the belt with a wide satin ribbon. For a tape we knit beautiful openwork harnesses.
We recommend using this pattern to create harnesses:
The first seven rows consist of 3 CCHs each. Then you need to tie these rows, moving from left to right. The columns and lifting loops in this case will be arches for knitting.We tie the rows like this: 3 runways, 3 CCHs, 1 RLS in the side loop of the VI row, 6 CCHs in the side loop of the V row, 1 RLS in the side loop of the fourth row, 6 CCHs in the base of the column of the third row, 1 RLS in the second row, 3 CCHs in the first row. In the end part we knit 6 CCH, then go to the side part. We knit 3 CCH, 1 SCN, 6 CCH, 1 CCH, 6 CCH, 1 CCH, 3 CCH, in the upper part we knit 5 CCH. We finish knitting 1 SS in the third PP.
What to wear?
Crocheted skirts, due to openwork, air weaving, are not very warm, so they are more suitable for summer or early autumn, when the weather spoils us with a lot of sunny days. These skirts need to pick up fairly light clothing. Putting on two knitted things at once is not worth it - this distracts attention from the beauty of the patterns and, in addition, somewhat weighs down the image.
Girls can wear knitted skirts with their favorite colorful T-shirts and t-shirts. Elegant blouses with short or long sleeves will also look good. You can put on a jeans jacket, a bolero or a thin jacket with buttons over the outfit.
In cool weather, you can wear a turtleneck and a jacket with a knitted skirt. Shoes fit almost any. In the summer it can be sandals, ballet shoes or slippers. In the off-season, a knitted skirt will look good with graceful boots or boots.
The neighborhood that a crocheted skirt cannot tolerate is a sporting thing. With skirts, sweatshirts, sweatshirts, sneakers and baseball caps, such skirts are completely incompatible. It is also better not to wear knitted skirts with a baggy, too voluminous top.
