The products of the German company Ghost are of high quality and popular in many countries of the world. In fact, over a quarter of a century the company was able to move from several models to the development and production of 40 types and more than 100 types of bicycles. Unlike the Americans and Europeans who manufacture their products in Asian factories, the Germans produce Ghost bikes exclusively in Europe, so their models stand out not only for their convenient construction and beautiful design, but also for the build quality.
Brand history
The history of the famous Ghost bicycles began in 1993 with two expert Bavarians Klaus Mehwald and Uwe Kallivoda, who made their first bike in the small town of Waldsassen, in the courtyard adjacent to the forge. The sample was so successful that the craftsmen decided not to stop there. A year later, several major bike shops put up for sale three new models. Participation in the Eurobike exhibition helped to draw attention to the nascent brand. Encouraged by the success of partners in one of the factories of the Czech Republic opened their own bike assembly shop.
Within three years, the first full-suspension products were released. By 1999, German entrepreneurs were able to create a company and produce 25 different models. Their imagination knew no bounds. For example, in a group of mountain bikes, they identified products for women extreme sports. There were high-speed, children's, city, road, tourist bicycles, as well as hard trailers and electric bikes. In addition, the company began to produce sportswear for fans of its brand. In 2001, the construction began to be produced from scandium alloy, strengthening its capabilities.
By 2002, the company was already producing 40 types of models, each of which was carefully tested. To do this, the state enrolls its own test pilots who experience each type of driving quality, reliability while driving, and the comfort of a bicycle. Today, the company supplies its products except Germany to another 20 countries. On Ghost models, athletes win.
Advantages and disadvantages
In order to fully appreciate the capabilities of Ghost products, you should consider it from different angles, understand the pros and cons of the German brand. Let's start with the benefits:
- emphasize build quality, models are assembled with German pedantry;
- stylish design, no frills, designed to the smallest detail;
- the ideal geometry of models is calculated by the design team, it is simple, ergonomic, and promotes high-speed driving;
- a wide variety of products is produced - for off-road, mountain walks, speed crosses;
- Well-designed designs in terms of comfort, after Ghost it is difficult to transfer to another product.
Ghost bikes do not have significant drawbacks affecting the quality or technical characteristics of products, but some cyclists note the simplicity of designs, the reason for which is German conservatism. The second disadvantage is the high cost of products.
Even the budget bikes of this company are not cheap, because they use only high-quality parts: brakes and Shimano gearshifts, Schwabe tire tires, Sapim spokes and other elements from well-known companies.
Types of Ghost Bicycles
As already noted, today Ghost products are forty kinds of different bicycles. Designed models for amateurs and professionals.
Double suspensions
Products stand out by the presence of springs on both wheels. This group belongs to the most complex modern bicycles. For example, in hardtail suspension only on the front wheel, and in the rigids use a rigid fork. Bicycles themselves can belong to different groups (cross-country, teide) and at the same time be two-hanging. The best off-road products can not be found, while they are comfortable and easy to manage.
Double suspensions are the most technologically advanced and advanced products, and their prices are higher than other models. These include the models below.
Enduro Tanks
A young skiing destination, loved by many. The company released the PathRIOT for extreme driving in the mountains and on forest impassability. This bike can withstand heavy loads, but at the same time it is lightweight, able to "take off" on long climbs and smoothly overcome the slopes.
All mountain
These bicycles are combined with enduro, belong to a variety of mountain models, but are designed to cross simple hills. The company released three dual-suspension models - All Mountain-RIOT, SL AMR and SL AMR X. They are good for traveling in the mountains without extreme sports.
Freeride
For extreme people, the company released a series of bicycles FR AMR. They are perfect for those who like to ride on difficult tracks, overcome obstacles, make steep descents and bike jumps. The bike has both long-travel suspensions, a reinforced strong frame, and strong disc brakes.
Hardtail
Although the hardtail may be double-suspension, but the company Ghost goes the classical way, its designs do not have a rear suspension. For products with this type of frames, shock absorbers are installed for a comfortable ride or hard forks to reduce the weight of the bicycle and increase its speed. This is one of the most common types of frames, Ghost produces the following products with them:
- Lektor / nila - Designed for sports, one of the most modern carbon-fiber bicycles;
- Asket - this trail hardtail trailer is incredibly strong and at the same time simple, it can take the most difficult tracks on a par with two-suspensions;
- Takana - have large wheels - 29 inches, which gives them the opportunity to be super-fast on heavy uneven tracks;
- Kato - a universal bike, on mountain trails capable of much.
Electric hybrids
A bicycle equipped with an electric motor and a battery has a lot of advantages. You can overcome long distances and tangible obstacles without getting tired. In recent years, they evaluated the capabilities of electrohybrids and began to actively produce them. Ghost also did not stand aside, introduced bicycles with electric models Teru and Andasol. Electric hybrids differ from ordinary electric bicycles in the absence of a button that includes traction. These designs allow you to pedal, adding power depending on the speed that the rider has chosen for himself. Speed, strength and power, in comparison with a conventional bike, double.
Cross
Bicycles combine mountain and road opportunities, highly valued in Europe, but not too popular in Russia. They have powerful wide tires, are endowed with good performance, and are capable of driving at high speeds. In this series, Ghost has released the Square Cross and Square Cross X models that cover moderate-to-terrain tracks.
Tales for travel
In this area, the firm has developed the Square Trekking model - ergonomic, durable, able to carry heavy loads. A bike with excellent driving performance, which is not afraid of any weather conditions.
Highway
Presented by Nivolet models. These bikes are designed for paved tracks and super speeds. The design is extremely lightweight, and its geometry is built taking into account aerodynamics.
For children
The company has developed a range of children's bicycles to suit every age group. For the smallest let out Powerkiddy Runbikes without even pedals, and for juniors - powerkid 24 disc, a complete bike equipped with springs and brakes.
Ghost bicycles have high technical performance and a large selection of models that can satisfy the demand of any consumer.
