Minimalism is one of the most practical styles, widely used today. This is due to the fact that in order to create a stylish bathroom, you do not need a huge amount of space and elaborate things. Minimalism is simplicity and functionality. Very often this style is used in bathrooms, where in a small area you need to arrange as many things as possible with a functional load.
Features of minimalism in the interior
Like all areas of design, minimalism has its own characteristics. But unlike other styles, minimalism is aimed at simplicity and maximum free space. This is one of the most practical styles - it involves the presence in the room of only those interior items that perform a function. The decorative elements that eat up the space should be as small as possible or not at all.
Therefore, for the bathroom, where many things are often stored, minimalism is suitable only if there are different cabinets or drawers for the bathroom, allowing you to hide various trifles.
As already mentioned, this style requires free space. Therefore, if you want a minimalistic bathroom, you should take into account that a huge number of tubes and bottles will have to be disassembled constantly, otherwise you will get the impression of bad taste and “stuffiness” of space. Refuse all bulky objects - they will only “eat” the space. Pay attention to elegant furniture and plumbing.
A good example is a built-in toilet, a hanging sink, masking all plumbing interchanges behind fake overhead panels. The same applies to decor - it should be a minimum, without paintings in frames, printed photographs or desktop figurines.
It is better to choose 1-2 things that create a bright accent, and limit yourself to this.
Minimalism involves simple, restrained geometric shapes. The most commonly used shapes are a triangle, square or rectangle. An exception can be made only for the bathtub - a model with slightly rounded edges or an oval shape will fit well into the interior. Pay attention to small details of plumbing, such as faucets or shower heads, because an incorrectly selected shape can ruin the whole impression.
Preference should also be given to simple strict forms. The same applies to the texture of the finish - avoid embossed coatings or, if without it at all, choose something with a barely noticeable pattern or slight roughness. Preferably so that all materials for the walls, floor and ceiling are smooth.
To save space, you can combine several functions in one subject. For example, instead of a shower cubicle, which takes up a lot of space, you can make a built-in hinged hose on the wall, providing a place for draining. In order not to destroy the impression of rigor, you can abandon wall lights by purchasing a mirror with backlight. If you need a small mirror, it makes sense to look at the wall cabinets with mirrored doors. In order for plumbing to occupy as little space as possible, pay attention to the options built into the walls.
Minimalism involves the use of 1-2 accessories, but allows you to play with the materials of the walls, ceiling and floor. A good option is to use materials of the same color, but with different textures. The hinged ceiling also fits perfectly into this setting. The materials that are often used to create this style: glass, metal and ceramic coatings, stone, granite, marble. It should be understood that all these materials must be of high quality and durable, so it makes sense to find the highest quality options, let them cost a little more than ordinary, but low quality.
Do not stop at one thing - combine different textures with each other.
The primary colors of this style are black and white.. Most interiors are made in such colors. But all shades of gray, beige, sand, pastel colors, brown and blue look good. As an accent, you can use red, dark purple and other colors that contrast with the main tone of the interior. For a small bathroom, it is better to use white or light colors - they visually expand the space and make it freer.
Dark colors can also expand the space, but only at the expense of well-placed accents, which are quite difficult to choose. Do not limit your imagination and complete the entire bathroom in one color key. Combine several shades or colors, but remember that the interior should be no more than 3 tones. One of the best options is to use 2 colors.
Bathroom Design Options
Bathroom in black
To avoid the apparent piling up of objects, It is worth abandoning large plumbing - huge bathtubs, showers and wide sinks. For an interior option in black colors, you need to purchase plumbing as small as possible. Mirrors with a frame in a different color can also save the situation. Light brown (wood) and gray (ash) colors will look good as accents.
This option uses Absolutely smooth textures and accents in light brown. A black bathroom is one of the most popular options these days. If suddenly the bathroom creates a gloomy impression, you can fix it with both color accents and well-chosen lighting. It is worth giving preference to wall lamps that create diffused light - it will be more comfortable. Ceiling chandelier will not give such an effect.
Snow-white bathroom
A win-win option for a small room. If snow-white interiors do not suit you, then Use a combination of white and additional shades of gray. For example, you can make one wall in gray - this will relieve the feeling of hospital sterility. But when using the contrast wall option it is necessary to minimize the presence of other accent accessories, and it is better to abandon them.
In addition, bathrooms and other styles are often performed in boiling white. This is due to the fact that white is associated with purity. Another advantage of a white bathtub is that it is difficult to overload it with accessories.
But you should not get carried away anyway, you just need to get by with original cranes, a lamp of an interesting shape or plants - living or artificial.
Contrast bath
This is a very common option. Most often, the classic version of black and white is used, but other combinations are possible. In this case a contrast wall is allowed, in combination with other accessories and accents, but only if the wall is monochrome, for example, monophonic black.
In this example, the plumbing is positioned in such a way as to emphasize the existing contrast: there is a white bathtub on the black wall, a white niche design. And on the white wall, on the contrary, is a black shelf. To smooth out a sharp contrast, you can use additional accessories in other colors.
You should not get carried away and use saturated colors, such as blue, red, yellow, orange and others as the main ones. These are too bright, flashy shades. A long stay in such a bathroom will be tiring and will not give you the opportunity to relax. But these tones are well suited for the role of accents in the room, where the main one is any of the calm neutral colors.
