The presence of a separate toilet is positively perceived by members of large families. At the same time, bathrooms lose additional meters of space. Any enclosed space is felt even less than it actually is. But you really want to place a sink, storage cabinets, and, of course, a bathtub. What are the design techniques that allow you to put everything into practice?
Plumbing
Have to give up bulky plumbing. In terms of rationality (to save square meters) it is better to install a shower cabin, especially in rooms 170X170 cm. There are models with a deep pallet that allow you to use it as a bathroom, in which it is convenient to bathe children or animals.
Specialists also offer open showers.
They are installed in the corner on the site of the old bath. Doors should be transparent, with a sliding mechanism. You can install closed shower boxes, but they take up more space.
If you don’t want to give up the bathroom, you can choose more compact or angular models. For very miniature rooms, sitting baths are suitable, their width can reach up to 65 cm. It is also recommended to refuse the built-in sink.
When it is installed, about 20 cm of space is lost.
It is better to place the washing machine under the sink: both in open form and hidden in a curbstone. You can put it next to the sink, then the horizontal surface will serve as an additional shelf, for example, for storing bathing accessories. Respectively, models of washing machines should be chosen not only compact, but also with a horizontal drum.
Furniture and mirrors
Large cabinets and mirrors in massive frames strongly “eat up” the available space. It is better to use tall and narrow pencil cases with a shallow depth. They practically do not take up space, but at the same time are very functional.
The more mirror surfaces that reflect light, the room appears more spacious. For a small enclosed space this is very important. Therefore, a large mirror located above the washbasin is not only practical, but also makes the room larger and brighter.
Some designers propose to make a mirror corridor by placing two mirrors opposite each other. In this case, the space of the room seems endless. But such a design technique is not suitable for impressionable and deeply religious people. Mirror corridors are full of mystical stories. There may be psychological discomfort from being in such a room and even irrational fear.
The most practical way to place a storage cabinet is over the sink. The model should be with a mirrored door. Other furniture with mirrored inserts and shiny elements, such as chrome handles, can also be matched with it.
Open glass shelves look great. They give the interior a certain airiness, are functional and do not attract attention if they are empty. Naturally, such furniture requires careful maintenance, but it completely compensates for the captured meters by visual expansion of the space.
Due to the limited footage, it is important not to overload the design of the bathroom without a toilet.
therefore care must be taken to use various accessories. In rooms limited by footage, they can cause a feeling of disorder and clutter.
Finish
The most requested material for bathrooms is ceramic tile. It is recommended to choose a rectangular shape of medium size - it distorts the space less.
A large drawing should be abandoned - it overloads the space.
Tiles with such a pattern are better to use. only for single accents.
But they look great in small bathrooms tiled panels or mosaics. On the perimeter, you can place decorative inserts that have something in common with the pattern. Perfectly increase the space of perspective images, photos of a room, city or beach. The drawing is applied with paint or with waterproof wallpaper.
Tile is not the only moisture resistant material that can be used to decorate a bathroom. PVC panels and moisture resistant paint are perfect. In order for the decoration material not to damp, it is necessary to make a quality hood and let it through the adjacent toilet room.
Color and light
Bright colors should visually give more space, but in closed bathrooms often the opposite effect is observed. Better to use light, calm shades.
Be careful with white.
Such facilities look sterile and evoke associations with medical facilities. Therefore its necessary dilute with various color accents. Moreover, the monophonic interior, as it were, smooths out the entire space, loses volume, shape, there is nothing to catch a glance at.
For lighting, it is recommended to use several sources: main and local. You can add lighting to the contour of the furniture. The main thing is that the color itself is soft and scattering, not hit in the eye.
The bathroom is not only a place for hygiene, but also a room for relaxation. therefore the more comfortable and practical the design, the more relaxing effect you can get.
