In the process of repair, the paint appears wherever possible, as a result of which cleaning takes no less time than the repair itself. We figure out how to wipe it if it got to the surface.

What is the paint?

Before you wipe the stain, you need to find out exactly which substance was spilled. It is worth starting to eliminate it only after a tool has been selected that is suitable specifically for this type of surface and type of paint material. Otherwise, you can not get rid of the stain, and damage clothes, furniture, various types of coatings. The whole variety of coatings for interior work and facade decoration can be reduced to three groups:

  • emulsion;
  • alkyd;
  • silicate.

Emulsion paints consist of dyes, water and a binder base. If you do not allow drying, they can easily be washed off with water from the floor, hands, rollers, brushes, trays. This group includes popular water-based paints, acrylic, silicone, polyvinyl acetate varieties. Silicate paints are based on liquid glass, they are mineral. They are diluted with water, used mainly on plastered surfaces.

Alkyd (facade) paints are made using alkyd resin. They can be used to paint wood and metal products, as well as plastered surfaces. This group is represented by oil and enamel paints made on the basis of drying oil. They are characterized water resistance. In addition to alkyd enamels, there are also polyurethane analogues that create a glossy film that is more resistant to mechanical stress. Aerosol paints necessary for finishing work are produced in spray cans, from which it is convenient to apply a uniform layer.

In addition to paintwork for interior and exterior decoration, there are also paints for creativity:

  • Thick opaque gouache easily dissolves in water. It is created on a glue basis.
  • Watercolors are softer and more transparent than gouache. They also contain vegetable glue, which is highly soluble in water.

Strictly speaking, only dried paint is a problem: fresh paint is fairly easy to wipe. If she has managed to soak and dry, it is worth patience and knowledge of the properties of the surfaces from which the stain is to be removed.

After repair, you need to wash and clean a lot of stains that have appeared in various places.

We select the tool depending on the type of surface

With fabric

During the repair process, paint often gets on clothes. Acrylic paints are difficult to remove from the fabric. If they got on clothes, a tablecloth or curtains recently, you can cope with them with the help of sunflower oil. After oil treatment, it is the turn of laundry soap. A soapy thing is kept for a quarter of an hour in hot water, then washed in a typewriter.

Some fabrics can be cleaned with white spirit or Vanish stain remover, but the risk of spoiling the thing is high enough. If it was not possible to remove the stain, you can always hide it behind the application. Gouache, watercolor, water-based paint can be easily wiped off with laundry soap. Things must first be soaked in warm water for 15 minutes.

With linoleum and laminate

It is not difficult to wipe the water-based paint from the floor covered with linoleum or laminate. If the stain is already dry, more time will be needed. It must first be softened with a wet rag.

The use of ordinary solvents and abrasives on linoleum and laminate is strictly prohibited, for them there are special building solvents.

Vegetable oil is used to remove oil paint from linoleum. It will help clean the plastic windowsill. For the same purpose, warm glycerin is used. The use of solvent on plastic is fraught with the appearance of dull spots.

With wallpaper

Diluted solvent will help remove paint from the wallpaper. It must be applied directly to dried drops, trying not to get on the wallpaper. The chemical agent cannot be rubbed heavily: the delicate structure of the wallpaper will not stand this. It is enough just to hold a cotton pad moistened in it or a rag on the stain.

It is almost impossible to remove dried paint; you will have to re-glue the soiled areas or figure out how and how to mask them.

From the ceiling

Stains on the stretch ceiling are a serious problem. You can try to wash acrylic paint with soapy water or dishwashing gel. Another way is to rub the stain hydrogen peroxide. If these budget funds did not help, you will have to go to the store for a special wash for this type of dye.

Aqueous emulsion ink is pre-soaked well with warm water, and then very carefully washed with a rag. It is better to remove oil paint from the stretch ceiling using a special wash. Using all sorts of improvised means, it is easy to damage the delicate polyvinyl chloride.

With plastic windows

It is easy to wash paint from plastic windows. From the glass, some of its types can be simply scraped off with a plastic spatula. He is not afraid of any solvents. Of folk remedies, ammonia diluted with water and silicate clerical glue are appropriate here. For plastic, the most harmless chemical White Spirit.

From wooden surfaces

It is difficult to remove absorbed paint (especially oil) from wooden frames and window sills.You can try to rectify the situation by using boiling linseed oil. The rag soaked with it should be put on a stain, and then try to erase it. If this method is ineffective, use a building hair dryer. After heating the paint until it starts to bubble, carefully scrape it off the wood with a spatula.

From the tile

To clean the tile is also not difficult. The glossy surface does not allow paints to penetrate inside, chemical solvents and washes are not afraid of it.

With bathtubs and metal surfaces

To remove the effects of painting from steel and cast-iron bathtubs, too, will have to be popular solvents, including gasoline, acetone, white spirit, ammonia. Owners of acrylic bathtubs should stock up on special washes. A plastic bath can be spoiled with acetone and other means, which are usually dissolved in coatings. Paint spilled on iron will have to be cleaned with chemical removers or solvents.

Often drops of hair dye fall onto the bath. To remove such a stain from an acrylic bath, just mix a few tablespoons of soda with any dishwashing detergent. In the resulting paste, you need to add a few drops of vinegar, then apply it to the cured paint. You can only rub the stain with a soft sponge. Another tool to combat stains of paint is a nail polish remover, which contains acetone.

However, use it on acrylic carefully. It is better to first evaluate its effect on an inconspicuous area.

With dermatine

Dried paint on a dermatine will help remove a knife or a plastic spatula. Scrubbing clots, it is important not to damage the artificial skin. After the paint has peeled off, the area is washed with soapy water. To quickly and accurately remove residual coloring matter, you can use a toothbrush. If these actions do not help, turn to the help of a special tool to remove stains from artificial skin.

With carpet

Removing paints from the palace will take a long time. So that sticky acrylic paint disappears from the pile, It will take several steps:

  • it is necessary to wet a rag in water in which detergent is added;
  • moisten the contaminated area with acetone;
  • it is important to apply a carpet cleaner for five minutes, treat the surface with a toothbrush;
  • After that, it will remain to collect the remains of the used components with a washing vacuum cleaner.

To erase an aqueous emulsion or latex paint, you need to moisten it with water, then treat it with a solution of water and dishwashing detergent. Do not press the spot heavily, otherwise the paint will be absorbed even more into the pile of the carpet and its base. At the end of cleaning, the remaining pigment and liquid must be collected with a washing vacuum cleaner. To get rid of traces of oil paint, use a variety of solvents. The results of children's creativity are not as insidious as the consequences of repair. Watercolor and gouache are washed off well with water and detergent.

Oil

Oil paint is almost impossible to remove without the help of chemicals. It is necessary to moisten the cotton wool in gasoline, white spirit, acetone or kerosene, apply it to the stain. After 10 minutes, wipe it from the edges to the center. The remnants of dyes and solvent must be washed off with running water, then wash the item. To erase the oil paint from leather shoes will help a greasy cream or vegetable oil, which slightly soften the paintwork. After that, the stain is washed with a saturated soapy solution.

After painting, many spots remain on the floor. If acrylic paint has frozen on the laminate or linoleum, plastic or metal, it is quite easy to scrape it off with a stationery or ordinary knife. It is well washed only if it does not have time to dry. It freezes very quickly, thanks to the film former.

The fresh layer can be washed off with warm water with a sponge or soft cloth.If the problem cannot be solved with water, a dishwashing gel or a simple soap will do. If there is no risk of surface damage, you can use a brush. Soaked paint is removed. acetone, gasoline, kerosene, white spiritalthough these substances are unsafe for many types of materials.

Washings

Construction stores sell special washes. Suitable universal remedies and those designed for acrylic dyes. It is better to work with these potent substances with gloves, a mask (respirator) and glasses, since they have a very sharp, unpleasant odor. Washing takes about 15 minutes to remove the stain, then this area is thoroughly washed.

There are recipes for making washes at home. A good solution of caustic soda has proven itself. If you need to get a thick product that will not drain from vertical surfaces, add oatmeal to it.

To soften the paint with it, it will take at least an hour.

Tips

The most effective way to fight stains is to prevent them from appearing. Otherwise, a lot of effort and time will be spent, and the result can be very far from ideal. The faster paint removal work begins, the more likely it is to completely remove itwithout damaging the surface.

It is important not to allow drying of the paint on the tools (brushes, trays, spray guns), otherwise they will have to say goodbye to them or soak in acetone for a very long time, and then wash thoroughly.

When choosing a method and means for removing stains, it is necessary to take into account the type of paint and the characteristics of the material on which it got. Any chemical substance should be tried in a small area where possible damage will not be evident. Using the mechanical method of removing paintwork, it is necessary to proceed with extreme caution. It is important not to damage the surface being cleaned.

If you work without glasses, sharp pieces of paint can injure your eyes. Some washes are fire hazardous and cannot be used in the immediate vicinity of fire sources.
