Decorating the house for Easter, in addition to the usual painted eggs and pussy-willow twigs, you can use the festive topiary. The technology for creating an artificial tree is quite simple, but the result is a very beautiful, and most importantly, unusual decorative element.
Features
Easter topiary is a decorative tree with a spherical crown and decorated with Easter eggs, or other symbols of Easter. Like any other classic topiary, Easter decoration has a number of essential components. As a stand, a decorative container of a suitable size filled with filler is used.
For example, it can be an ordinary flower pot, a vase, a bowl or a large mug. As a topiary trunk, either a real branch, or a wooden (bamboo) stick, or a decorated wire is used.
The crown of the tree is made of polystyrene, foam rubber or papier-mâché. In principle, a plastic ball is also possible. It should also be added that in horticultural stores sometimes they sell balls for topiary already planted on the rod. As decorative elements for Easter, multi-colored eggs, artificial grass, figures of rabbits and chickens, beads, ribbons, etc. are suitable. The filler for the support vessel is selected in such a way as to securely fix the entire structure.
For example, for a richly decorated tree, it is better to use gypsum, and for a light miniature topiary, a sponge tightly inserted into the pot is suitable. There are also options for the use of sand, earth and pebbles, as well as additional fixation of the trunk at the bottom with hot melt adhesive. Any filler should be hidden from view with moss, grass or colored paper.
Engaged in Easter decoration, you can use ordinary boiled painted eggs, but this solution is short-sighted, since the life of the decor is significantly reduced. It will be much more correct to use empty shells, from which, with a syringe, the contents are eliminated. Such workpieces must be thoroughly washed and dried. For a small topiary, it is better to use shells from quail eggs. The use of any decorative testicles, as well as egg-shaped forms from kinder surprises, is also welcome.
Interesting ideas
The most common solution is to create an ordinary topiary, and then design it using Easter elements. Egg shells or decorative figures are pre-painted in pastel colors, or painted with discreet patterns. Fixing them on a spherical base is better with a glue gun. Between the eggs, flowers, bows and artificial grass are pasted. If you pre-drill a small hole in the egg, then you can fix an artificial flower or a miniature twig directly on it.
Another winning option is the creation of a topiary with sisal. This multi-colored agave fiber holds its shape well, and therefore it can be rolled up in such a way as to imitate colorful testicles. It is also possible the formation of the main Easter element and from corrugated paper. Egg shaped topiary is quite popular. To create it, you only need to cut out the crown of an unusual shape, and then decorate the structure with satin ribbons, butterflies and flowers. The decorative tree with the base in the form of a wreath of twigs looks extremely original.
Another unusual idea is to decorate the topiary with a chicken sitting in a nest. Twigs are formed from colored wire, and the bird itself is either purchased ready-made or assembled from a pair of yellow pompons with decorative eyes and a beak.
Execution technique
In order to create an Easter topiary with your own hands, it is better to step by step follow the instructions of some proven master class. To create a festive decor you will need a spherical base made of polystyrene foam, which can either be purchased in a store or made independently. The list of materials and tools:
- bamboo stick;
- small flower pot;
- glue gun with stock of rods;
- floristic sponge;
- multi-colored sisal, beads, buttons;
- decorative figures and artificial flowers.
The crown can be made from waste paper, crumpled into a lump and rewound with adhesive tape. An alternative to a bamboo stick is an ordinary curved branch covered with white gouache. Instead of a floristic sponge, the use of gypsum mortar is allowed, which is diluted directly in the stand. The mixture should be very thick. The tree is fixed in gypsum in the required position and remains to dry for about 2-3 hours (in the case of a small composition). Larger works dry during the day.
A hole is cut out in the foam base, the depth of which is about 3-4 centimeters. Inside, hot glue is poured first, and then a wooden trunk is inserted.
The pot is filled with a floral sponge. Again, a hole is made in it with a depth of 3 to 4 centimeters. The recess is filled with hot glue, and then the trunk with the crown is fixed in it. It is necessary to mention that if a wooden stick was previously decided to be painted, then it is better to do this before connecting to other parts. Instead of painting, the trunk can be wrapped with a rope or satin ribbon.
When the tree is firmly fixed in the pot, the filler must be hidden - fall asleep with beads, cover with sisal or artificial grass. The spherical crown is covered with paint, glued with sisal or wound with yarn.
At the final stage, the decor is fixed: the crown and the surface of the earth are decorated with decorative animal figures, colorful eggs, stripes of satin or rep ribbons, flowers made of ceramic clay, as well as beads and buttons.
It is also worth considering the specifics of making a topiary with an egg-shaped crown. Three wooden skewers, interconnected and wrapped in a pink satin ribbon, are suitable for the trunk. The ends will have to be glued, but only after the trunk itself hardens in a gypsum solution. Next to the pot, you can immediately install several decorative willow twigs. Having formed a small "skirt" from organza on a thread, it must be placed on the top of the trunk. A plastic egg is painted in the required shade, decorated with lace, braid and any other decorative elements. Having carefully treated its bottom with hot glue, you need to fix the crown on the trunk. The finished design is decorated with artificial flowers located on the side of the egg, as well as greens that hide the gypsum filler.
