Among the variety of prints and ornaments used to decorate sweaters, Norwegian patterns are in a separate row. Bright, New Year ornaments give a feeling of a festive mood and charge with a positive not only the owner of such a sweater, but also all the people around him.

Features of the Norwegian pattern

The fashion for sweaters with a Norwegian pattern appeared in the 40-50s of the last century. Then, such sweaters were worn exclusively by men. Prints depicting sled deer were a kind of sign of attention to these noble animals that perform transport functions.

A few years later, Norwegian sweaters firmly took their place in the wardrobe of men, women and children. The number of ornaments has increased significantly, and the range of these sweaters has expanded.

Today, a Norwegian ornament can occupy almost the entire surface of a sweater or pass a hem along the bottom or chest of a product, make cuffs or a collar.

The color scheme has also become more diverse. A prerequisite is the presence of contrasting color shades. Only in this case the pattern is as clear and noticeable as possible. Usually used combinations of white and black, black and red, white and blue, red and white, as well as other options. Such sweaters are not too variegated, usually no more than 2-3 shades are used.

The patterns themselves include New Year's motifs (snowflakes, Christmas trees, stars), images of fairy-tale characters (deer, trolls) and geometric patterns. A distinctive feature of the Norwegian patterns is their frequent changeability one after another.

Models

A sweater with a Norwegian pattern is very popular among both men and women. For its knitting, as a rule, very warm merino wool is used. With its help, dense, voluminous sweaters decorated with hand embroidery are created, as well as lighter, thin models.

Thanks to merino wool, Norwegian sweaters are characterized by high strength, wear resistance and excellent heat-saving ability. That is why they are simply indispensable for the coldest time of the year. Norwegian sweaters have high elasticity and practically do not wrinkle.

Typically, Norwegian sweaters are classic straight-cut models with a high collar and long sleeves. There are also sweaters of a fitted silhouette, the high collar is sometimes replaced by a round neck. Sleeves are often decorated with cuffs.

Most often, the sweater has a classic, medium length. But in recent years, elongated models that are worn like a dress or tunics have become very popular.

Especially popular are sweater models with a round yoke.

What to wear?

Solid colors will help to emphasize the beauty of Norwegian patterns. It can be trousers, jeans or leggings made in tone with a sweater or opposite - in a contrasting color.

A Norwegian round neck sweater goes well with a dull plain shirt. Sweater + shirt is one of the classic combinations that suit different occasions.

A sweater with Norwegian patterns and a knitted hat or scarf made in the same theme will make up a bright, elegant set for a walk or sports

A tunic sweater with Norwegian patterns with a short sleeve and a round or V-shaped neck looks great in combination with a plain turtleneck of dark color.

Depending on the kit in which the Norwegian sweater is used, appropriate shoes are selected for it. If this is a sports option, then sneakers, athletic shoes, ugg boots will perfectly complete the set.

For more elegant models, for example, tunics, boots, ankle boots or high heel shoes are suitable.
