Each girl in a certain period begins to prepare for a wonderful event in her life - the birth of a baby. Doctors carefully monitor the health of the future mother and child, but the girl herself must take care of the preparation for the birth.

In the maternity hospital, you need to have some things with you, so you should pay special attention to fees and prepare everything you need by putting things in your bag. Let us consider in more detail what should be in this bag, and also why it is needed at all.

Why do I need to purchase a special product?

The purchase of a special bag is necessary so that all things are in one place, and are not scattered in numerous packages, which in the end can even be lost, which will cause a lot of inconvenience for you and the staff of the maternity ward.

A bag in a maternity hospital is a necessity, since an absolute girl wants to feel comfort in such an important period in her life, and any personal things, even the most insignificant ones, are small components of this very comfort.

A bag is also being collected for the purpose of hygiene, which women in particular need. Each girl will agree that the use of disposable or hospital-provided accessories is not the most hygienic and may cause some complications.

In the bag are not only things for a young mother, but also for the child. It is important to take everything you need in order to provide the baby with proper care and a comfortable existence from the first minutes of his life.

In order not to collect two separate bags or bags containing things for the prenatal and postpartum periods, it is better to get a special product, compact and spacious.

Such a bag for convenience can have many compartments.

When to collect?

For convenience, you can pre-compile a list of things, sorting them out in packages and put everything you need in your bag on the eve of your departure to the hospital.

You should start collecting bags immediately after going on maternity leave, which usually happens during the thirtieth week of pregnancy, when the term of delivery is not so long. It is necessary to subdivide things into three categories: for the antenatal department, directly for the birth chamber and everything necessary for discharge.

Things necessary for the antenatal period:

  • To communicate with relatives, you need a mobile phone and a charging device for it;

  • Individual items to maintain personal hygiene;
  • Slippers or slippers;
  • Two towels: large and small;
  • A clean, neat and comfortable bathrobe;
  • An ordinary diaper, best of cotton;
  • A few rolls of toilet paper;
  • If you wish, you can also bring your own bed linen;
  • If the patient enters the pathology department, she may need a supply of food for one day.

Things necessary for the birth block:

Things you may need in the postpartum ward:

  • Two towels: large and small;
  • Accessories for oral hygiene;
  • Other hygiene items: soap, shampoo, toilet paper, deodorant and some cosmetics;
  • Personal cutlery: mug, spoon, fork, tea and sugar;
  • On request, you can bring along your own bed linen and an individual electronic thermometer.

Documentation

With you must be medical and personal documents proving your identity and storing information about the state of human health. And the awareness of doctors about the health status of a pregnant girl is very important, so do not forget about anything.

For convenience, we have compiled a list of necessary personal and medical documents:

  • Identity document - passport and several photocopies of it;
  • Medical insurance policy with several copies of its photocopies;
  • Special generic certificate;
  • SNILS insurance certificate and several copies thereof;
  • Sick leave in the original and in copy;
  • An exchange card may be required;
  • If hospitalization in the pathology department occurs, you must have a special direction with you.

All this must be collected in accordance with the list, since in the absence of any important documents the hospital has every right to refuse to hospitalize a pregnant woman. Therefore, we advise you to collect all the documents in advance by placing them in a specially designated pocket of the bag.

For mum

We have already outlined in general terms what things may become necessary in various departments of the hospital. But it is worth considering in more detail what is really important to have a young mother with you in order to feel comfortable.

As mentioned earlier, personal items are needed in the form of slippers, nightgowns and a bathrobe, and bedding was also mentioned. They are necessary because not every maternity hospital has the opportunity to provide women in labor with new bedding, without signs of numerous washes and scuffs.

The fact is that clinics that are supported by the state do not always have the appropriate financing and are not able to change outdated sets in time.

In such situations, it is recommended to carry a set of fresh, clean, ironed bedding. Although this is a trifle, in comparison with all the events taking place in the life of a young mother, but still it will play a rather serious role in providing her comfort.

A young mother may need a cream to prevent or heal nipple cracks. When breastfeeding, female nipples are subjected to unusual stress, which is the reason for the appearance of cracks, which can be healed by the appropriate cream or ice cubes from a decoction of certain herbs.

In addition, a young mother may have a problem with visiting the toilet, therefore, it is quite possible that glycerin candles will be needed. They become a necessity when cracks arise in the process of childbirth that have to be sutured.

In this case, any load is contraindicated, and you simply can’t push.

For baby

With a list of things for the baby, everything seems to be more or less clear. It would seem that it may be needed in the first minutes, hours and days of life, except for underpants, sliders and sheets.

Let us consider in more detail the list of essentials and why they are needed:

  • First of all, a list of things is necessary based on what time of the year you have to give birth to a baby. For example, warm clothes will be useless for a hot summer season, a vest and diapers will be enough, but woolen overalls with joined legs can come in handy during the autumn-winter-spring period.
  • In addition, in order to protect the baby from the cold, it is worth taking with you even a warm baby blanket or envelope, which may become a necessity in case of any technical malfunctions in the heating system.
  • In the first days of the baby’s life, almost all young mothers make the process of breastfeeding, so some believe that the baby bottle will be superfluous. This is a mistake, since a bottle may be needed to prepare solutions that eliminate infant colic.
  • Manicure scissors may be needed, because babies who were born on the specified date or a little later are born with rather long nails that need to be cut so that the baby does not injure himself.
  • To care for the newborn, you need to have cotton buds with you, since the baby needs to regularly clean its nose and ears. The sticks can also be useful for processing the umbilical cord, the wound on which has not yet been healed.

On discharge

Clothing for discharge from the hospital, for the most part, is purchased for the baby, as her mother will have enough of her everyday clothes. What items are needed for the baby to check out, and how to choose kits in accordance with weather conditions?

It is not necessary to make several sets, since the maternity hospital staff will have to dress the baby and simply have no time to choose the baby outfit, so the abundance of things can create some inconvenience.

Here is a list of what the child really needs:

  • The kid definitely needs a bonnet or hat, or better, both of them;
  • Children's blanket, which must be tucked into a duvet cover;
  • A corner and tape are required;
  • A pair of vests - ordinary cotton and insulated;
  • A pair of diapers - cotton and insulated;
  • Pampers.

It is necessary to take into account weather conditions and the time of year at discharge, so as not to catch a fragile body of crumbs. For example, on a cold autumn it is better to get a warm envelope and a warm hat.

For winter, you may need an even more insulated version, for example, with a cotton blanket or a children's envelope on fur.

It is very important to keep the baby warm and not expose him to stress in the form of hypothermia.

The good thing is that you do not need to take the discharge kit with you in advance, since the relatives of the young mother can bring it to the hospital immediately before discharge. But you should still collect it yourself, before you go to the hospital.

Joint birth, things for dad

Recently, partner births have become quite popular. If earlier men were afraid of this process and tried to avoid it, but now they consciously take such a step and want to take a direct part in the birth of their child.

There are many opinions about the benefits and dangers of partner birth with the participation of the father. Some believe that this process can provoke a cooling of family relations, but as practice shows, after a joint experience of such an exciting event, families become only stronger.

But what is needed for this? It turns out that for the father to participate in the birth process, he also needs to collect a package of certain documents and have some things with him. Let's consider in more detail the list of these things:

  • First of all, the father will need to be tested (each hospital individually determines their list);
  • The necessary analysis in absolutely all clinics is fluorography;
  • The analysis on revealing various kinds of sexually transmitted diseases is also obligatory;
  • For partner births, the father will need replaceable shoes, best of all - rubber slates;
  • Comfortable clothes are needed that everyone can individually choose for themselves - even a T-shirt with tights will do, the main thing is to keep things clean;
  • In the presence of hairstyles with elongated hair, the father may need an elastic band for hair or a special hat;
  • Since labor can take a long time and take a very long time, you need to bring along drinking water and a light snack.

Range

The assortment of bags for the maternity hospital is quite wide, but, despite the outward attractiveness of many of them, when choosing, first of all, it is worth considering the functionality of the product.

For example, a transparent bag, at first glance, may seem convenient, since all the things folded inside are clearly visible, and the risk of forgetting something important is significantly reduced. But it seems that this is the only advantage of this model.

The fact is that a transparent bag is made of not very durable material, which is quite easy to scratch with sharp objects. The places of seams and joints during overloading the bag quickly become unusable, torn and cannot be repaired.

Hartmann bags have a good reputation, and their quality has been tested by numerous experience and time. This brand is famous for the production of high-quality medical products, including bags for the hospital.

Bags are presented in one single form - in a rectangular shape with a hinged top that closes with a zipper. This option is most convenient, since it opens a greater view of the internal space, which greatly facilitates the collection process.

Transparent bags from the “Ship” line are presented in the form of a product with a ready-made set of necessary things. An orange edging of sutures makes the model more attractive. Some bags are made of transparent material in an orange hue, which makes them look much more interesting.

A plastic transparent bag is, of course, good, but many young mothers who have already gone through the process of childbirth and have seen the situation from the inside are advised to purchase fabric models made of dense material.

By the way, such bags have quite an attractive decor in the form of a quilted material effect.

Finished bags

If a young woman does not have time for self-training and compiling a list of everything necessary, it is worthwhile to pay attention to the offers of some brands - already collected bags with a minimum supply of everything necessary.

It is worth mentioning that things are collected for mom and baby separately, so when purchasing such a product, you should carefully make sure that it contains everything you need.

The contents of the bag for mom:

  • Waterproof slippers (the size of which is worth clarifying);
  • Moisture-absorbing diapers designed for single use;
  • Disposable razors;
  • Gel, for intimate care;
  • Drinking water in a bottle with a sports throat;
  • Packaging wet wipes designed to maintain intimate hygiene;
  • A pair of packages of postpartum pads: large and medium sizes;
  • Special tightening pants designed for postpartum use;
  • Inserts and linings for nipples;
  • Cream for breast care;
  • Wet toilet paper packaging
  • Paper napkins and packaging of paper linings on the toilet seat.

Baby Bag Contents:

  • Packing diapers for newborns;
  • Packing wet wipes for babies;

  • Packaging baby disposable diapers for newborns;
  • Baby powder;
  • A special cream that is applied before putting on a diaper;

It is worth stocking up separately for some items, because their number in the bag is not so large and they may simply not be enough.
