According to rumors, the Phoenicians were the first to bring spaniels to Europe, and the animals themselves got such a name from the word "spani", which translates as "rabbit". These dogs really resemble a rabbit with their hanging ears. Only in England the breed was officially recognized, calling it the "cocker spaniel". Subsequently, new breed varieties appeared, including the popular American Spaniel. The original breed varied both in appearance and in the manner of leaving.

The Spaniel Boy is a short dog, reaching 40 cm at the withers. The girls even lower do not exceed 38 cm. They do not differ much in weight - about 14 kg of both males and females. The color does not vary much: there is red, brown and black, as well as a mixture of these three colors.

The cocker spaniel breed is very healthy, and such a muscular structure requires excellent nutrition and long walks. At the very beginning of breeding, the dogs were supposed to be of help in the hunt to help equestrians when collecting shot game from the ground. Therefore, at the genetic level they are strong, energetic and hardy dogs.Their game-grabbing skills are determined by the structure of the massive jaw.

The traits of a hunter are visible in everything: a strong skeleton, all lines are sharp and angular, as if outlined. The eyes are oval, with pigmented eyelids. The neck is always straightened, the posture is clear. And of course, the famous hanging ears, narrow at the base, expanding to the bottom, rounded.

The USA gave the breed a national touch as soon as the spaniels arrived on the Land of Freedom. The American mestizo spaniel has long hair, which is especially liked to comb as much as possible at exhibition events, eyes are no longer oval, but round, with a short muzzle.

In such a cross, they immediately note a long, angular nose. Ears hang down, but tightly adjoin the head, a wide tail tapers to the tip and is very reminiscent of cun tails. The breed has a short and dense coat, pleasant to the touch, shimmering in the sun. There should not be any spots or shades, this fact means only the impurity of the breed.

Puppies of this breed love to play and indulge like mongrels, but from the first months the owner should see the poise and kindness of these dogs, their tenderness and loyalty. If you have a small child at home, it is highly recommended not to keep a mixture of staff and labrador, since this merger does not always bring results in the form of obedience and complete safety.

Such a cross is called docker or doxy. Outwardly, they are very reminiscent of spaniels, but, of course, the body of a dachshund adds a mestizo of charm and uniqueness. The legs are also short from the dachshund. The color is almost always light brown, with caramel tint. Sometimes there are specks on the wool.

In order to get a mixture of husky and cocker, only purebred parents are needed. In this case, the result will exceed all expectations, and you get a great cross, which will have the best characteristics of a husky and a spaniel. The glossy wool of these representatives fits snugly and is combined with a color from black and white husky tones. The dog will be obedient and faithful, and from the spaniel will acquire the indispensable traits of a hunter. From both breeds this mestizo took friendliness and love for babies, as well as the absence of aggressive behavior.

The half-breed is very active, loves both hunting and swimming. This spaniel perfectly understands all commands, kind and not aggressive. The ears are hanging, the hair is glossy and fits snugly to the body.

There are more and more mixed breeds over time, and it is no longer surprising the appearance of crossbreeds with drathaar, lapdog, poodle and bloodhounds, but this makes the breeds only more unique.

Mestizo spaniels are always positive and playful, glad to owners and small family members. They love communication and get along with almost everyone.

• The peculiar body structure of these puppies leads to frequent ear problems. - otitis media and hearing loss are not uncommon phenomena, and therefore careful care is required behind the ears to avoid debate, scratching and swelling. Wool should be washed constantly, diligently combed - this also applies to the ears, as falling hair can fall into the ears.
• Dogs require frequent and long walks. Not all owners are ready for this. The muscles of these dogs require sport, activity, constant movement and games.
• Nutrition must be complete, vitamins and minerals taken into account. You need to buy a bowl for both food and water, which should be always available, because both the puppy and the adult pet are always active.
• It is important to visit your veterinarian on time for routine examinations and vaccinations., since it is very important to control the hearing and vision of the animal.
• The collar should be matched not tight, but to fit the neck., since often a dog can tug on a leash of emotions and cause inconvenience to itself: strangle itself and rub its neck.
