Each family in an apartment or house usually has several televisions at once: one in the kitchen-living room, another one in the bedroom. To save space, the TV is not only bought as thin and flat as possible, but also suspended above, in order to get rid of the need to use an extra stand, which takes up extra square meters of room area. Technology is now so advanced that it became the norm to suspend the monitor.

Having bought a new TV model instead of a more massive obsolete one, first of all choose the height from the floor, on which the equipment should be installed.

The place of suspension, as well as the distance to the screen, should not be harmful to health when watching TV shows.

General installation recommendations

Watching TV shows is one of the traditional methods of leisure time. This is partly a kind of relaxation. And so that relaxation does not turn into an overstrain, each of the zones in the apartment or house has a specific TV height. For the most accurate determination of the hanging height of the device, the calculation is based on the utmost comfort when viewing, most people prefer a lying position.

Televisions and monitors have already gotten rid of the harmful electromagnetic background that they emitted earlier for a decade and a half, and the frame rate of a dynamic image has increased so much that the human eye doesn’t react at all to their change (previously, the screen “shook” was noticeable). This means that you can position the device within two to four meters from the viewer's face - he will not notice the difference. But the ratio of the screen diagonal and the distance for the eyes should not be completely ignored.

Be sure to pay attention to the area of the room in which the TV will be placed. Most oculists adhere to the following pattern: the distance from the screen to the eyes is equal to the double length of the diagonal. Neither the size (width and height in pixels) of the picture, nor the type of monitor (LCD or plasma), matters. Basically, such calculations were taken in relation to old devices that had harmful radiation (based on picture tubes).

To watch TV shows conveniently, follow these guidelines.

  • The indent angle from the middle axis, going from the center of the monitor to the face of the viewer, should be no more than 30 degrees. The fact is that the viewer subconsciously turns his head toward the monitor, no matter how uncomfortable he is, and this entails the acquired curvature of the spine, significantly different from the physiological norm.
  • The distance from the floor is at least a meter, this will help to avoid touching the display with your feet when passing by the TV.
  • The compartment with sockets or extension cord is located at least 45 cm from the tripod or the brackets on which the device itself is suspended.
  • The height of the furniture and the distance from the wall and TV to the bed or bedroom set should not be less than a quarter meter.
  • When choosing a bracket or tripod, the weight and dimensions of the product are the most important parameter. A too weak and thin tripod is unlikely to withstand a large plasma TV, and a fall and a strong hit on the floor can end fatally for the device. When choosing a mount, follow the manufacturer's recommendations for your monitor. The bracket should be quite friendly in choosing the right angle of rotation of the product, it can be located special clamps, often bought with a hinged shelf. These holders allow you to change the angle of the display. The most suitable suspensions contribute to the angle of rotation of the display in two dimensions at once.
  • Check the tightness of the bracket from time to time - the bolts may spontaneously turn off over time.
  • Do not buy a TV with a diagonal size of more than 1.5 m for small rooms, the area of which exceeds one and a half dozen "squares" - it will create difficulties when watching TV shows. Viewers will turn their eyes more and more actively, which will quickly lead to fatigue, headaches and will kill the root interest of people in the plot being watched.

Where and how to place?

It is possible to calculate the appropriate value for the height of the monitor suspension both on the basis of the opinions of people and on the recommendations of ophthalmologists and manufacturers of teletechnics. Both methods allow neglecting the distance from the viewing point to the center of the display. However, this factor can negatively affect visual acuity.

Based on user experience

Lie down on your sleeping place and close your eyes. Open them - you immediately determine for yourself the zone on which the eye falls immediately upon awakening. In the bedroom, the monitor is suspended higher from the floor than in the living room or in the kitchen.

On the advice of doctors and the manufacturer

Recommendations with this method of calculation are as follows.

  • The middle of the display is at eye level. Deviation from this angle can make the image visually distorted, which immediately entails eye strain.
  • If there are more modern monitors based on the LED backlight of the matrix, as well as stereo support in 3D, the screen resolution is also taken into account - 720, 1080, 1440 and 1920 lines. At the same time, when you have good eyesight, you should clearly and in great detail examine everything that is visible at the moment.

In the second case, the height of the screen suspension is calculated by the following formula. With a video resolution of 720 lines, you take the length of the diagonal times 2.3.For 1080 resolution lines, the diagonal length is multiplied by 1.56. When determining the height, you must take into account not only the distance from the center of the monitor to the face, but also the general dispersion of the distance from the location of the TV mount to the viewing point.

To completely eliminate the harm caused to vision and general health, you must move away from the monitor at a distance equal to 4 of its diagonals.

Universal way

Stand at the viewpoint and make sure that the place you are looking for the device does not cause you any discomfort. Most experts believe that the TV is installed in a straight line. The number of rooms in a house or apartment is also important when choosing a place: in one-room housing, the device is suspended diagonally from the center of the sofa or bed. In this case, the monitor will be visible from any place, wherever you get up. The TV is not a decoration, it is unlikely to replace the picture, it is not even an MMS-photo frame. To decorate the room with a TV as a whole is unlikely to succeed.

Why not hang too high?

Too low a position of the TV will make the screen visually darker, too high - on the contrary, will lighten it. If the TV is hung too high, then in the event of a malfunction it will be more difficult to lower it for the duration of the repair.

When using removable drives (memory card, flash drive, external USB drive), the height should not be too large to insert / remove these data drives, so as not to damage them or the connectors themselves.

Examples of the most economical placement

Monitor placement options are combined with the bedroom interior design and may be as follows.

  • Near the window. It could be a table - at one end of the table.
  • Position the bracket in the corner. The corner itself does not have to be adjacent to the window.
  • Securing the device in a niche is a classic option. It is found in some private houses and apartments of the old type (in the "Stalin").
  • Design a TV among the paintings. The device is hung on the wall using flat mounts.
  • “Beat” the space above the fireplace. It is not recommended to put the device on the fireplace itself - the latter can heat up significantly when firewood burns. It is better to use a hanging shelf or a familiar bracket suspension.
  • On the mini wall. If the space in which the monitor is located is large enough - just put it there. In some cases, a wall or cabinet can contain its own, internal niche - the TV is suspended in it just as if it was hanging on the wall, while it is not considered as a separate one, but as a built-in device.
  • On console. The latter is a kind of “stump” of a table with two legs - a stand, shortened in comparison with a full-fledged table, several times, resting on a wall that does not allow it to fall. Its mount and legs are reliable enough to withstand not only the TV, but even serve as a small computer table.
  • On the pedestal - That also is in no way inferior to either the console or a full-fledged table. Modern bedside tables are very reliable.
  • If the bedroom window is very large - the device will not cause any interference when there are no curtains or curtains on the window.
