This design direction allows you to create a favorable and peaceful atmosphere that promotes relaxation and rest. That is why chalet-style bedrooms are often furnished. Initially, such a design was intended for private houses and cottages, but today it is often used in the arrangement of urban apartments, including small ones.

Basic concept

Chalet-style interior design appeared in France, in the province of Savoy at the end of the 16th century. The literal translation "chalet" means "shepherd’s hut." The first houses in this style were built by peasants using exclusively natural materials. The basis of the decoration was wood and stone, and not only outside, but also inside the building.

They tried to create the interior as comfortable, warm and functional as possible.

Today, the style of the chalet is somewhat different from the original form, but the main idea has been preserved. Bedrooms with this design are similar to a rustic interior. Its main features are:

  • natural and safe materials in interior and decoration;
  • massive wooden furniture;
  • a fireplace that creates a cozy and warm atmosphere;
  • a large number of textile products and accessories;
  • dim lighting;
  • natural, calm colors.

    The bedroom of the chalet has a rest. A peaceful, calm atmosphere helps to relax, forget about everything that happened all day, and plunge into a deep sleep.

    Decoration Materials

    A prerequisite for decorating a bedroom in a chalet style is use of wood materials. The decor should correspond to the alpine country house, which is built of solid wood. As additional materials, you can use stone and metal.

    To decorate the walls of the bedroom in the style of a chalet, you can use the following:

    • wood veneer-based wallpapers;
    • natural wood board;
    • wooden panel thermal wallpapers.

    Alpine homes often have ceilings wooden beams. Such elements will look appropriate in a private house, especially in the attic. As for the city apartment, you can install an imitation of wooden beams using slats, but provided that the room has rather high ceilings. And also as a finishing material suitable wood boards, plaster or panels with imitation of a wooden pattern.

    Chalet flooring should also be done. from natural materials. The ideal option is massive wooden board or parquet. If you have a small budget, you can lay the floor laminate flooring. In addition to wood, chalet style is often used decorative rock.

    Furniture

    The main piece of furniture in the bedroom is the bed. It should be wooden, large and massive, preferably with a back. At the head of the bed on both sides they put up cabinets on which you can place lamps with soft light. Also, chalet-style bedrooms should have armchairs with a low back, but in small rooms you can do without them.

    For storing things and bedding It is advisable to choose a large, roomy chest of drawers. Its appearance should resemble an antique piece of furniture. If the chest is not enough, you can buy an antique wardrobe - on small legs, with two doors without mirrors, with carved decor.

    Facades of furniture should be matte - gloss in this style is inappropriate. Plastic, drywall and veneered objects in the design of the chalet should not be.

    Textiles & Accessories

    The design in the style direction of the chalet is characterized by the use of a large number of textiles. The bedroom should have large bedspreads, rugs, rugs with pile, blackout curtains, tablecloths and more. All fabrics must be natural. Handicrafts are welcome, for example:

    • patchwork bedspreads;
    • knitted blankets;
    • embroidered tablecloths and pillowcases.

      For drapery windows it is recommended to choose dense curtains made of linen or cotton. Curtains for a small bedroom can be short or made in the Roman style. Tulle is not used at all in chalet design.

      You can complement the interior wraps for furniture from a natural skin and decorative pillows. Mantelpiece or dresser decorate candlesticks, vases with flowers and napkins, which can be both plain and with a national ornament.

      Tapestries, paintings with picturesque landscapes or hunting trophies are suitable for decorating walls.

      Color spectrum

      Chalet-style bedrooms are not allowed in colorful shades. The color scheme should be restrained and as natural as possible. Can be used all shades of gray and brown, white, dark or muted red.

      Small bedrooms are recommended to be decorated in bright colors, and for spacious rooms you can apply darker and deeper colors. But so that the interior does not look boring, should be diluted with a few bright accents. It can be colored pillows, wraps, napkins or tablecloths with a bright pattern and more.

      Thanks to the play of shades You can divide the bedroom into several zones. This technique is of particular relevance in children's bedrooms, because in the same room children not only sleep, but also play and do their homework. In other cases, zoning allows you to allocate space for sleep and passive relaxation.
