Carpets for the bedroom: what are and how to properly lay?

Carpet - an interior element that has gone through the most diverse stages of recognition, from the peak of fashion to complete denial. But if the attitude to products on the walls can be twofold, then flooring is still more familiar. Especially in the bedroom, where comfort, tranquility, warmth should be felt as much as possible.

Whether or not to buy a rug in the bedroom is a question that can generate disputes in the family. And yet the majority is inclined to think that he should be in this room. Pleasant tactile sensations, the need to often walk barefoot, visually softening the interior - all speak in favor of the carpet.

The carpet in the bedroom performs the following functions.

• Soundproofing. Carpets are excellent sound absorbers, and in the sleep and relaxation room this characteristic is especially important.
• Protection against the cold. In winter it is more pleasant to walk on the warm floor, and warming is the function of the carpet.
• Interior completeness. Sometimes without this element the room is visually empty, I want to make it cozier, to balance the decorative elements.
• Convenience in cleaning. If you do not have the most successful laminate that needs to be washed and rubbed every day with special tools so that it does not look dirty and faded, it is better to hide this coating at least partially. It is enough to vacuum in the morning, and the floor looks perfect.

And if you buy a quality wool rug, provide your feet with a natural massage. The villi gently massage the feet, which is good for blood circulation, the general tone of the body. And even for the prevention of colds, the presence of natural coverage in the room has a positive effect.Finally, the carpet is not a very expensive piece of furniture (unless, of course, you stare at luxury goods or rare items).

And there is plenty to choose from.

• Propylene. Environmental friendliness in this embodiment is small, since it is a synthetic product associated with oil refining. Such carpets rarely appear in the bedroom, they have low wear resistance and are not very good at vacuuming. But the option is cheap and affordable, although it is least suitable for the bedroom.

• Durable nylon. From this material elastic and durable carpets are obtained. They have a knitted base, their service life is long, since manufacturers use the technology of simultaneous weaving of pile and warp.

• Wool. Without a doubt, the best option is natural and durable, they can decorate the interior for decades. Such models are expensive, but the price is justified. Woolen carpet will fit into virtually any interior. True, they quickly get dirty and react negatively to humidity.

• Silk. A very expensive option, but the highest quality. True, such products are not actually purchased in a standard apartment.

• Viscose. It is a kind of alternative to silk carpet. Soft and pleasant tactile material does its job perfectly. The price is much cheaper than silk.

• Nylon. The coatings are strong and durable, resistant to fire.

• Polyester. These rugs will also last a long time, the price is affordable, and the design design involves a wide variety of colors and prints.

• Jute. Popular today jute rugs are inexpensive, easy to clean and very durable. But jute products are afraid of water; after getting wet, they shrink.

Separately, it is worth noting the mat. So called dense lint-free loop carpets made from natural plant fibers (for example, rice, flax, sisal, reed). The mats have a rather trivial look, but the interlacing of threads of different thicknesses and textures creates an interesting visualization. Typically, mats are used to decor a country house, for a bedroom in the country - this is a good option.

Cotton coatings are especially popular today: They are distinguished by high thermal conductivity, they perfectly absorb moisture, have good ventilation and are very clean. True, cotton is not suitable for those who have allergies in the bedroom.

Medium carpets logically and succinctly highlight a certain area in the bedroom - for example, a dressing table. Small carpets serve, for the most part, as color contrasts or additions. They help to highlight the right colors in the bedroom. As for the form, the classic options are rectangle and square. Other forms (and oval carpets too) are used to a greater extent for arranging interior accents. Oval rugs cool manage to emphasize the area with a mirror. Carpets can emphasize a certain piece of furniture: for example, repeat the shape of a corner sofa or table.

Almost always, an element is selected by the contrast method: it should not merge with the floor. If the carpet and floor merge, the entire horizontal picture of the room is smeared. Regarding the color of the carpet in the bedroom, the following recommendations work.

• For a good rest in the bedroom, an atmosphere should be created without any external irritants. Because the calm and bright colors of the carpets are optimal. They positively affect the psyche, help calm down.
• If the room is designed in black and white, graphic tones, and it seems unfinished to you, you can safely choose a bright carpet - for example, raspberry.
• It happens that the curtains, the covering on the bed, the color of the furniture coincide, that everything merges into one color spot, which makes it look uncomfortable. This situation can save a carpet of contrasting color. It visually separates the levels, brings order and stability to the interior.
• The carpet can enhance the basic color scheme of the bedroom - for this, think about what it will be a companion (curtains, decorative pillows, etc.).

Today, interior fashion is turned to manual creativity more than ever. A new wave of popularity is associated with macramé, a lot of wood, textiles, rope design, etc. appear in the interiors again. Carpet this also applies! Wicker (knitted rugs) are in great demand. You can weave them from different materials: due to the rounding by knots of the warp thread, a nice pattern is obtained.

Mats weave and the mistresses themselves: knitwear is cut into strips and “by the grandmother’s method” weave small, very comfortable, washable mats. They will look great in the interiors of Scandi, Boho, Country, Provence, etc.

• What role do I want to play in the bedroom carpet? If key, do not even consider small coatings.
• Do I like a long pile or a smooth coating? If the pile should be present, a wide choice is opened here: models can be long-pile, medium-pile, short-pile. The pile itself is structurally different (for example, a frize pile is a twisted version, and velor is cut loops).
• Is it necessary to highlight a zone and which one specifically? If you want a modest bedside mat, its dimensions should not go beyond the outline of the bed. If you like the closet rug option, it may be irregularly shaped. Think about where the carpet is more appropriate, where it will not interfere, and with what color it will be combined.

Modern interiors can amaze with color, stylistic solutions, minimalism, but they rarely refuse bedside rugs.

The traditional element is a carpet in the “barefoot zone”, that is, near the bed. So effectively the sleep zone stands out against the general background. If the carpet product is large, then you can place it under the bed - it will go beyond its shape. This is a familiar arrangement, but it is only suitable for smooth carpets. If you follow the pattern that is fashionable today, then put the carpet on the floor so that it lies across the bed and the bed is only half on it.

Sometimes the owners decide on all sides to surround the bed with carpets: on the sides and at the foot. The option is bold, although symmetry and visual ordering are thus easy to achieve. Another option is two bedside rugs on the sides.If you like simple interiors, it can be patchwork, wicker rugs that wash well and look cute and rustic in warmth. The option with asymmetry is complex and requires an artistic look: all the interior elements are in geometric fragmentation and at the same time look organically - this is not an easy task.
