Beagle breed belongs to hunting dogs. It is believed that she came from England, since it was there that her selection was first started. The height at the withers for males should be 36-41 cm, for females - 33-38 cm. Body size (medium) in length in males is 45-47 cm, in bitches - 41-43 cm. Girth of sternum - 62 cm and 60 cm respectively.

The color of the beagle can be spotted, speckled and variegated. All of them are divided into tricolor and bicolor. Primary colors in the colors: white, black and red. The only option for mono-color can only be a completely white coat color.

Purebred dog is determined by additional parameters:

• the chest should be wide so that the heart and lungs are correctly positioned;

• the lower back should be short and the neck strong enough;

Beagle has three varieties of the breed: English (European), American and French. The latter is not found at all in Russia. Americans are much larger than their European counterparts. Their maximum height reaches 41 cm, and among the British - only 33 cm. The structure of the skull is also very different, the American type with an angular head, while the European one is rounded.

The maximum weight that an adult male dog can reach is 16-18 kg, subject to the normal development, activity and mobility of the dog, as well as maintaining the proportions of the body. Subject to the same criteria, the maximum female weight may be 14-17 kg.

In this breed, boys are born larger than girls, and subsequently males grow more actively and gain weight. The weight of the newborn baby is 300-450 grams.

In the first month, the puppy gains weight, about four times its weight at birth. During this time, the cubs are very similar to each other, regardless of gender. Differences will be visible only by two months, when the puppies become like a small copy of their parents.

By the age of three months, the calves should gain weight about 6 kg, and their length at the withers will reach 30 cm. Normally, girls may be slightly smaller than boys throughout their developmental years.

At this time interval, the main development of the bone system, chest, hind and forelimbs occurs. By six months, the weight is doubled compared to the weight of a three-month-old kitten. Growth reaches 35 cm.

Dogs gain their proper weight, growth reaches a maximum. In a year, the male grows up to 40 cm, the female - up to 38 cm. Within 12 months, the beagle must acquire all the development skills of an adult animal. At this age, this is a full-fledged mature dog. The growth of girls sometimes ends even earlier, with the advent of the first estrus.

Psychologically, individuals of this breed are also already formed by this time and must comply with standard norms not only in physical development, but also in behavior. If the dog is properly raised, he will not be cowardly and aggressive.
