Today there are many different breeds of dogs. One breed may be familiar to everyone, for example, a shepherd, a Labrador or a dachshund, and sometimes it is one with which only a small number of people are familiar.
Recently, among dog lovers around the world, small indoor dogs have been very popular. But they will not surprise anyone too much. That is why breeders continue to work to cross as many different breeds of dogs as possible, and thereby obtain new, unusual and interesting mixtures. In this article we’ll talk about the breed of dogs, which is known as chorki, about how it appeared, the characteristics of its character and upbringing, and how to care for such a pet. We will also find out the positive and negative sides of such a pet.
Origin history
Yorkshire Terrier and Chihuahua are one of the most famous and popular breeds that are preferred by people who love small dogs. Therefore, scientists decided to create a cross between them, that is, to cross. The result of their work was the appearance mestizo york and chihuahua - chorki.
The first chorki puppies appeared around the 90s of the last century. Very quickly, this cross was called ideal for living in an apartment. This is primarily due to the "compactness" of the dog, the size of which allows you to keep the animal even in a small apartment. After all, chorki is far from a Doberman, for which you need an aviary and a lot of space, and its requests are much less.
What does it look like?
Since chorki is a mixture of York and Chihuahua, the characteristics of these breeds of dogs are responsible for the appearance of the puppy. Outwardly, these dogs are more like York, and only partially resemble a chihuahua.The puppy is characterized by a perfectly folded body, a small, head held high.
If we talk about the color of the future puppy, then there is no exact opportunity to predict what it will be like. Color can be absolutely any, in most cases golden or black. For the most part, Chihuahua genes are involved in its formation.
But even if the puppy was born black, this is not a verdict. After time and in the course of growing up, the color can completely change.
Besides, it is impossible to predict the length of the coat - it can be either long or short. The most common are red mestizos, which have long, straight and soft hair. The minimum weight of chorki is at least 2 kilograms, the maximum - 4 kilograms.
Character
Dog handlers say that any dog can be raised and trained, the main thing is that she knows who her owner is. But be that as it may, with chorka everything is a little different. The appearance and character of such a pet are radically different things, and sometimes their combination in an animal is surprising. Chocks are characterized by a sharp mind and extreme stubbornness, it is almost impossible to train them, given the nature of the animals.
Adults can play with the dog, but you need to be alert: the dog can play too much and bite, which will be a complete surprise. Chorki is one of the few dog breeds that should not be allowed to small children. Children’s games and pranks the mestizo will not tolerate.
Chocks are completely fearless, while walking, experts recommend keeping them on a leash.
The dog does not like loneliness. Separated from the owner, the animal becomes wild and nervous. And in order for the puppy to restore its psychological state, it takes a lot of time. It is worth noting the fact that the mestizo is quite touchy, and even during a small quarrel and raising his voice, he can refuse to communicate with the offender. But, despite all of the above, chorki are distinguished by special devotion and patience.
How to care?
Like any other pet, chorki need some care. For them, given the artificial origin, various diseases, most often genetic ones, that can be passed to the puppy from one of the parents, are relevant.
Chorka is characterized by such ailments:
- joint diseases
- hypoglycemia.
Unfortunately, the dog's lifespan does not exceed 15 years.
Before you get such a pet, you must definitely go to a pet store and buy everything you need. Among the purchases should be a special comb or brush for grooming the dog's hair. Chicks need to be combed 1-2 times in three days. You need to teach a puppy to combing from birth, since he does not like this procedure.
Several times a month, the dog needs to be bathed, trimmed with its nails, checked for fleas or ticks, and checked for lichens. Proper care of the puppy also means constant visits to the veterinarian to conduct an examination and all vaccinations.
As for walks, they should be frequent and long, but exclusively in warm weather. In winter, the dog needs to be dressed in a special suit and it is better to carry it on your hands so that your feet do not freeze.
It is also necessary:
- with a cotton swab, wipe your eyes every day;
- Using a special toothbrush for dogs, carefully brush your teeth so that subsequently plaque and stone do not form;
- periodically inspect the auricles;
- every 2-2.5 months to cut the dog.
As you can see, caring for chorki is not much different from caring for another breed of dog: they also need to be carefully examined, go to the doctor with them and get vaccinated.
The condition of the dog and its appearance is greatly affected by the diet. This breed does not need special nutrition. Chork can be fed either with natural food or with dry food.
It is very important that, along with food, the dogs enter the body essential vitamins, minerals and trace elementsthat provide good development and well-being. Feed must be balanced.
Be sure to adhere to the diet. Do not forget about the constant availability of clean water for drinking.
Subtleties of choice
When choosing a chock, several mandatory points should be considered:
- the presence of a family tree - it is desirable that there is an opportunity to get acquainted with the dad and mother of the puppy, to make sure of their good condition and health;
