Everything regarding the choice of children's shoes enjoys special attention from parents. Even if it comes to the usual slates for the beach. The rocky bottom of the river, hot beach sand, slippery pool tiles - all this can cause some inconvenience to the child. That is why lightweight, durable slates are an indispensable part of a children's wardrobe. The history of their appearance, models and features of this shoe will be discussed in our article.

Appearance story

Slates appeared relatively recently. Previously, people used ordinary sandals and only in Japan and other Asian countries wore shoes that are very reminiscent of modern slates.

Shale gained wide popularity and popularity in the middle of the last century. Almost at the same time as other world manufacturers in the USSR, they launched the production of their own rubber slippers. The factory for their production was located in the city of Slantsy, from there their name went.

Today, oil shale is made not only from rubber, but also from plastic and other materials. They owe their popularity to unsurpassed ease, practicality and convenience. They perfectly complement any set of beachwear, they can be worn on a hot summer day and with a casual wardrobe. They are worn in the city and in the country, in nature and in the pool.

Features

Slates are shoes designed for walking on sand or gravel, so they can mostly be found on the beach. However, lightweight, non-slip slates are an indispensable element of clothing for the pool. In the end, they can also be worn at home instead of slippers.

A distinctive feature of this shoe is their lightness. That is why rubber, polyurethane, leather and other materials with extremely low weight are most often used for the manufacture of slates.

As a rule, they are worn on the bare foot, it is not hot in them, the most open style gives the foot comfort and does not allow sweating. They are easy to put on and take off. They are great for children of all ages.

Wet shales do not deform, so you can walk in them not only along the shore, but also on wet grass or along the bottom of a reservoir. Slates are very practical: they do not require special care or the use of special cleaners and detergents. Slates retain their original appearance for a long time without any changes in color or shape.

Models

Classic slates have the most concise design - a flat sole with a jumper holding the foot. Most often, slates are made of rubber, but there are also combined models with a jumper made of plastic, textile, silicone, etc. The jumper can have a different shape, length and thickness.

Shales themselves are very convenient, but they are not designed for continuous wear, running, jumping, etc. The leg in them is practically not fixed, therefore, with active movements injuries are possible, especially if the leg is wet.

More feminine and elegant models are made of leather or suede. They can have a small heel or platform, performed in beautiful color combinations, decorated with all kinds of prints and decor elements.

Slates for girls differ primarily in color. It is usually brighter. It can be shales of red, pink, orange, blue, green, violet, yellow and other colors and their combinations.

Artificial flowers, lintels from the contrasting color of materials, appliqués, rhinestones, various weaving, beads, etc. are used as decorations. Yes, and the design of slates itself can be more elegant.

Slates for boys are performed in a calmer, restrained color scheme (blue, black, gray, violet, etc.). As a decoration, a print or applique with the image of a cartoon character, fairy-tale character, favorite toy, animal is used.

Another place where you can not do without slates is the pool. Slippery tiles, as a rule, have a rough, non-slip surface, however, shale in the pool is required.

It is, after all, just hygienic. The model for the pool can be the simplest, have a calm color and not be complemented by decorative elements.

How to choose?

Despite the fact that shales are not used constantly, but from case to case, their choice must be approached as carefully as the choice of other children's shoes.

  • Material. Rubber slates are, of course, very comfortable. But today you can pick up models made of even lighter materials. And for a child, every extra gram of clothes or shoes, of course, matters. It is best to pay attention to polyurethane slates. The material is very light, safe, non-toxic, not afraid of water, strong, durable, resistant to abrasion.
  • Another option: a combined model. For example, the sole may be polyurethane and the upper part made of leather or textile. Such slates look more elegant, recalling rather open sandals.
  • Clasp. For young children, it is best to choose fixed models. It can be a velcro fastener or slates with a special elastic band.
  • The size. Do not forget that shales - shoes are very unreliable in terms of fixing the foot. Therefore, the size should be most accurately matched to the child’s leg. Too narrow will press and cause inconvenience, too wide - just fly off your feet.

Buying shales, like other children's shoes, is best in specialized stores, for example, sports.

This will give a guarantee of quality for slaps, safety of the material from which they are made, durability and comfort in use.
