Patterns for hats

Today, when a whole fashion industry is working on creating a wide variety of models of clothing and hats, interest in needlework is not diminishing. After all, wearing a hat knitted on knitting needles with your own hands is much more pleasant, in addition, this thing will be truly exclusive. It remains only to determine the pattern, get comfortable in the chair and get to work.

Types of patterns

There are a great many different patterns that are suitable for knitting hats. Each of them has its own advantages and is interesting in its own way. The choice of the pattern also depends on the degree of craftsmanship of the needlewoman: it is better for beginners to choose a simpler option, for experienced knitters any, even the most complex and intricate patterns can do.

A novice needlewoman to create a headdress should choose the most simple pattern. This is hosiery knitting, in which in the odd rows all the loops are knitted with the front ones, and in the even ones - the wrong ones. If you knit tightly, the result will be a smooth, even cloth to which you can later sew some kind of decorative element.

Alternatively, the cap can be made denser garter stitchthat looks the same on both sides. In this case, all the loops, regardless of the row, need to be knit facial. It should be remembered that this pattern stretches very well, which must be taken into account when calculating the loops. This picture looks better from thick yarn.

It will be easy for beginners to master the simple pattern of "muddle" (it is also called “rice” or “pearl”). Externally, the pattern resembles a scattering of small pebbles or cereals (hence the name variations). In the process, you just need to alternate the front and back loops, knitting them in each new row not according to the pattern, but changing them (in place of the front one, perform the wrong loop, and vice versa).Note that the "patchwork", like the garter stitch, is a two-sided pattern.

A popular and simple pattern for hats is an elastic band. It can be used to make the whole product or just its edge (it will become denser, will not wrap). The elastic band is an alternating front and back loops (there may be a different number of them), resulting in vertical stripes: convex - from the front loops, concave - from the inside.

A distinctive feature of this pattern is its elasticity, which is undoubtedly an advantage for the cap. If you take smaller knitting needles for work, you will get a more contrasting canvas.

The most universal types of elastic bands are 1x1 and 2x2. In even rows, such patterns fit in the pattern. It is worth noting that the 2x2 option looks better on bulky headgear (for example, knitted snood, especially if you make it seamless).

You can experiment using 3x2, 4x5, etc. for knitting. according to your desire. The main thing is that you are satisfied with the final result.

If you want to make a warmer thing, use a double elastic band. Please note that in this case you will need twice as much yarn, as the hat will turn out two-layer. The first row of this pattern fits simply: one loop is front, the other is purl. The main pattern starts from the second row: one loop is made front, and the next is removed, and the thread must pass in front of the canvas. All subsequent rows to the very end are knitted in the same way.

English gum is already more complex - it refers to patent drawings. This is a group of patterns that use yarn loops. In the English gum, the initial row is knitted in a 1x1 way, in all the other rows the purl stitches are sewn, without knitting, with a yarn over the knitting needle, and the front loops are knitted as usual.

Other patent drawings are knitted in a similar way, we give examples such as pearl gum and "honeycombs" (in large and small versions).

It will not be difficult for a beginner needlewoman to make various geometric patterns based on a specific arrangement of front and back loops. This is a checkerboard pattern., which is an alternating square, which can be of different sizes: 2x3, 3x3, 4x4, etc. (but do not make them too large). So, to knit a 4x4 chess, in the first row you knit 4 front and 4 wrong loops one by one, knit the next three rows according to the pattern. In the fifth row, in place of the facial loops, the wrong ones are knitted and vice versa. The hat with this pattern will turn out to be rather dense, it will not be wrapped even without elastic at the edge.

Another example of a geometric pattern is rhombs, which are performed according to a certain scheme.

Caps connected by transverse or diagonal stripes look interesting, This is especially true for volumetric models - a hat-clamp, or snood. In the first case, several rows are knitted with stocking, and then, on the place of the front loops, the wrong ones are made and the next several rows are knitted according to the pattern - this gives the required number of strips, which can be of different thicknesses. Knitting diagonal stripes is not much more difficult, the basis of the pattern is the alternation of the front and back loops, which gradually shift with each subsequent row.

Relief patterns always look spectacular. These caps look more voluminous and attract attention. These are everyone’s favorite braids (or Aranian patterns), which are obtained as a result of interweaving of facial stripes, consisting of a different number of loops, with a certain interval. If two pigtails are placed side by side and crossed in opposite directions, we get another picture - a complex braid. These patterns noticeably thicken the canvas, so it is ideal for warm winter hats.

Imitates a braid fashionable recently "spikelet" drawing.Initially, a transverse stripe is knitted with a large oblique in the center, and after it the top of the cap is tied.

Other options for convex embossed patterns - This is a variety of harnesses, rhombuses, bumps, raspberries, butterflies, leaves, as well as knitting with the effect of cloquet (in which the front sheet is folded with the help of an auxiliary needle, as if covered with large bubbles).

Many craftswomen are very fond of lace patterns. These are various waves, snakes, nets, “peacock tail”, openwork leaves, rhombuses, Christmas trees, etc. The basis of these drawings is the use of yarn. These patterns are performed in simple patterns. As a rule, they are used to create light summer hats. Many small holes provide good ventilation of caps and panama hats.

If you want to make a similar product for the off-season, take care of an additional layer - a kind of lining.

Beautiful and original hats with jacquard patterns, which involve the use of multi-colored threads (two or more). Due to this product are obtained warm and windproof. In this way, you can get a variety of images: these are abstract ornaments, animals, plants, cartoon characters and much more.

For work, threads of the same quality and thickness are required, which do not fade after washing (otherwise the whole picture will deteriorate). Knitting needles should not be too thick, otherwise the fabric will turn out loose and broaches on the wrong rows will be visible.

Today once popular Norwegian and Scandinavian patterns are back in fashiondepicting frozen reindeers in a jump, unpretentious stars, schematic snowflakes, Christmas trees and ordinary rhombuses. Men's hats are usually knitted with geometric jacquard, while women's hats are floral. Beginning needlewomen can knit with the so-called lazy pattern, when the simplest ornament is done "by eye".

Professional knitters can show imagination and come up with their own pattern, thereby creating a unique thing.

Many have heard of patchwork - patchwork but not everyone knows that there is a knitted analogue of it. This technique is called enterlak. Connected flaps, connecting with each other, form a beautiful colored canvas. The main task here is knitting without tearing off the thread.

Schemes

Let us consider in more detail the technique of knitting some patterns.

"Small honeycombs"

In the first row, all the loops are knitted face. In the second - facial alternate with the yarn, the row should be finished with just a loop removed. In the third row, the front and removed non-knit double crochets are knitted alternately, you need to finish the row with the front loop. The fourth row begins with a crochet, we remove the next loop without knitting, we knit a crochet loop with the front. In the fifth - we alternate two facial with a crochet. In the sixth, we knit the loop together with the crochet, then one crochet, one loop, without knitting, remove. The seventh row is executed as the third. Next is a repeat of 3-6 rows.

"Network"

The popular “braid” pattern is somewhat similar to braids, but has a different order of intersections. In this example, the total number of loops is a multiple of six, excluding the edge. The initial two rows are hosiery. In the third row after the edge, every 6 loops we cross each other (3x3) so that a slope to the left is formed. We knit 4-6 rows according to the drawing. In the seventh row, we knit three facial loops, and then again, as in the third row, we cross every 6 loops, but now we are forming a slope to the right. We knit the eighth row according to the pattern, and starting from the ninth row, the pattern is repeated.

"Butterfly"

This beautiful embossed pattern is made of thick but light yarn. The pattern is formed from broaches that pull together the canvas, creating a relief resembling a butterfly silhouette.

The number of loops is a multiple of ten plus four.

In the first row, knit two loops with the front ones, remove the next five loops without knitting, again five ordinary facial loops. Two facial loops complete the row. The second row is performed according to the drawing. 3-9 rows are performed similarly to the first and second. In the tenth row, every five broaches need to be collected from the front side (wrong side of the loop), put them on the left knitting needle, and then knit the whole group with the wrong side of the loop.

How to choose a yarn?

If you decide to knit yourself a beautiful hat, then the right yarn is half the successful result.

When buying threads, carefully read the label. It usually indicates the density of knitting (how many loops and rows you need to get a square canvas 10x10 cm) and what size needles to use when working. To make a jacquard pattern, it is important to find out if this yarn sheds. Analyze the thread consumption: the finer they are, the less yarn will go to the hat.

Before starting work, knit a small piece and finally determine the density of knitting and the consumption of yarn.

Each specific pattern is designed for a specific yarn. For example, thin openwork hats are knitted from thin cotton threads ("iris", "lily", "violet"). Smooth yarn on a woolen basis is suitable for voluminous braids, and fluffy mohair and angora do not need elaborate patterns - they look great, connected by simple stocking smoothness. The required thickness of the knitting needles also depends on the texture of the yarn.

The color of the yarn also matters for the selection of the cap pattern. So, Aranian patterns (intricate interweaving of braids, plaits, braids) look more advantageous on a light canvas. But from melange threads it is better to make a hat with an ordinary elastic band, hosiery or garter stitch.

Beautiful images

  • The cap fitting a head represents a combination of two types of elastic bands. The wide bar is made with a simple rubber band - in the form of alternating front and back loops (1x1). The main part of the product is connected by wide stripes. Concave strips of purl loops gradually disappear, approaching the crown of the cap, which is decorated with a black fluffy pompom made of natural fur. The knit of the headdress echoes the texture of the collar of the jacket, and the dark gray color is combined with the color of the girl’s eyes. The pompom is made in the same color as the sweater. All this as a whole creates a harmonious youth image.

  • A charming set of tight-fitting hat and a massive yarn scarf is made of thick yarn. The headpiece is connected with a fashionable “braid” pattern, which looks especially advantageous in light lilac color. This figure makes the hat more voluminous, which is in harmony with the large facial features of the girl. The chic fur collar of outerwear adds to the ensemble of chic.

  • Elegant light beret is suitable for warm spring and early autumn. A pleasant shade of pink is combined with the girl’s hair and refreshes her complexion. The headpiece is made with an airy openwork mesh, and its edge is treated with an elastic band, which is a sequential alternation of two face and three purl stitches, which takes it. A carelessly shifted side takes, the girl’s clothes made of yarn of the same texture and color, her loose hair and a mysterious smile create a gentle romantic image.
