Around the lakes with medicinal properties, sanatoriums and health centers have been built. In such places, developed infrastructure with good access roads and comfortable places of residence.

Civilization has not yet reached part of the reservoirs. True nature lovers strive to get to such wild lakes. Only here you can enjoy real natural charms.

Salt Lake Overview

In Crimea, people go not only to relax, but also to improve their health, to heal one or another diseased organ. Salt lakes have become a source of healing mud. Their production is conducted on an industrial scale. Even a simple stay near water bodies with salt water is good for the human body. But unlimited use of mud is unsafe. Do not treat yourself. Each disease needs its own course of treatment. After all, mud baths take a certain amount of time.

It will not be possible to tell about all salty water bodies. We restrict ourselves to a description of several of them.

Red

The historical name given by the Crimean Tatars is Kyzyl-Yar. It is an estuary type water body with a length of over 13 km and a maximum width of 2.5 km. The depth of the reservoir does not exceed one and a half meters.

The water in the lake is very salty. In the hot summer, it dries out almost completely, and then a red color appears. The rest of the year, the water surface is cast in gold.

For recreational purposes, only the southern part of the estuary is used. Here residents of Krasnoperekopsk have a rest.

In a small private hospital, patients are treated with mud.

Oybur

Oybur Lake is the fourth largest on the peninsula. Once upon a time there was a bay. Over time, a sandy isthmus appeared, and communication with the sea was interrupted.

The ratio of salt to water is 200 g per liter. Drowning here is simply impossible because of the very high density of the liquid, which pushes any body when immersed.

Silty deposits rich in iodine and bromine are used for medicinal purposes. Blue clay is sent to beauticians.

Mullet, red mullet, horse mackerel are found in the lake.

Decent depth and frequent winds are convenient for kitesurfing, which is used by fans of this sport.

Estuary

Lake Liman was formed relatively recently. A narrow sandy strip separates it from the sea. Sometimes sea water overflows into the Estuary through a separation barrier.

Water replenishment occurs due to underground sources and precipitation. Depth ranges from one to two meters, and in the heat itself is only 0.4 m.

The salt lake of the estuary type is located in the village of Olenevka.

Silt deposits are used for medicinal purposes. Access to the reservoir is free. The mass of tourists is located on the beach and uncontrollably smeared with mud. Cases of negative effects of healing silt on humans are frequent. This is not surprising, because the time spent by the healing mud on the body should be limited.

Longer procedures cause weakness, dizziness.

Tobechik

Lake Tobechikskoye belongs to the estuary type, has 9 km in length and not more than 4.5 km in width. The depth of the reservoir is only one meter. In rare cases, in places it reaches two meters. Located 12 km from Kerch.

At the bottom there are several mud volcanoes.

Dirt has a beneficial effect on the skin, helps eliminate gynecological diseases.

The ancient Greeks knew about the healing properties of the reservoir. Based on the description of archaeologists, we can confidently say that many centuries ago hospitals worked here. Unfortunately, these days there are none on the shores of Tobechiksky.

Aktash

Not far from Kerch there is another beautiful salt lake - Aktash. Like the main part of such reservoirs, it was formed by separation from the sea. In Crimea, it is the most salty. The salt content reaches 40%.

Aktash Lake is very shallow (1-2 meters), but quite large. Its length is 8 km and a width of about 3 km. In the heat, water evaporates, the pond dries up. It seems that in the summer melted snow fell.

Salt crystals sparkle everywhere in the sun. In some places, salt loses its whiteness due to impurities. This makes the landscape even more interesting.

Until the water has evaporated, they bathe in the lake and treat it with mud.

With the advent of drought, one can only be surprised at unusual phenomena, take exclusive photos on the background of salt hills.

Fresh lakes in Crimea are much smaller than saline ones. Some of them were formed due to the expansion of river mouths. For example, this is how Lake Raven appeared. Some formed by filling the pits with water.

Water in reservoirs filled with springs remains cold even in the warmest time of the year.
