The best master classes with patterns

Simple backpack

Everyone can make the simplest backpack, because for him you do not even need to make a pattern. It looks like a bag, compact and roomy.

First you need to prepare materials and tools:

  • jeans;
  • non-woven;
  • lace;
  • belt belt;
  • fabric for sewing lining;
  • teak.

The process of tailoring a backpack must be done step by step:

  • You need to take jeans and cut off the excess legs. This decision will affect the height of the backpack.
  • Now open the legs from the inside, put them together to create straight parts, all the excess should be cut off. Stitch all parts carefully to make a pipe.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the bottom of the product. To make it strong, it is better to use three layers. To maintain the oval shape and increase the density, it is worthwhile to insert two layers of teak between the layers, and then glue everything with a high quality non-woven.
  • A lining is cut depending on the size of the backpack. Then it should be sewn from the wrong side and sew all the details.
  • In the straps that are designed for the belt, it is necessary to stick the lace to securely close the neck of the backpack.
  • A belt tape is suitable for sewing shoulder straps.In addition, you can make soft linings from denim for the convenience of socks on the back.
  • Make a denim valve and sew on a button closure. Do not forget that the pockets on old jeans will help not only to decorate the backpack, but can also be used to store various small things.

If you do not need a volumetric model, then you do not need to cut the bottom. It should be beautifully tucked seam.

With decorative textile inserts

A backpack from old jeans decorated with textile inserts looks beautiful and original. Surely every housewife has a lot of scraps of different fabrics at home. They will be a great decoration for a denim backpack.

First you need to prepare materials and tools:

  • old jeans that you first need to rip;
  • details from fabrics of different colors and textures;
  • non-woven;
  • lace;
  • large button;
  • eyelets (6 pieces);
  • metal rings for fixing harnesses (2 pieces);
  • threads and needles;
  • sewing machine.

For the pattern you will need several blanks:

  • the oval will be the bottom of the product (27x16 cm);
  • the rectangle is designed for the basis of the backpack (73x37 cm);
  • two strips for straps (100x10 cm);
  • valve.

Now you can move on to tailoring a fashionable backpack:

  • First you need to make three patterns (body, valve and two straps) and sew on a thin non-woven trim for a variety of materials.
  • From old jeans, you need to cut two identical parts that will go to the backpack case. On the one hand, they should be sewn, and on the other, a ready-made part decorated with scraps of fabric should be put in, and also stitched.
  • To create a valve, two parts must be stitched, but always from the wrong side. You need to sew a loop on it.
  • Now you can go to the bottom of the product, it must be carefully sewn in, and then sew the grinder with grommets, and stick the cord.
  • On the other hand, two straps must be sewn.

In the patchwork technique

Patchwork or patchwork is a very interesting direction, which allows you to create a real masterpiece from small elements. Therefore, it is impossible to pass by and not use this technique in tailoring a stylish backpack from old jeans.

To sew a product using the patchwork technique, it is necessary to use a fabric of different colors and textures. For a backpack you will need more than one pair of jeans in different shades. For example, you can take dark blue, light blue and blue models, and if you wish, add material of a different texture.

So, the process of tailoring a backpack using the patchwork technique occurs in several stages:

  • First you need to draw a pattern in order to understand the location of the colored shreds. For a small backpack, the size of the square can be 13x13 cm, but allowances for seams should be taken into account. Just one centimeter will be enough.
  • It is necessary to carve out the main part from the sickle, also taking into account the allowances for the seams. Gently place all the squares on it and glue them with a hot iron. This method will avoid rough seams that are formed when stitching denim.
  • The synthetic winterizer can be divided into two layers: one will be sewn with a piece of shreds, and the second will go to create a strong bottom.
  • To decorate the squares, you can take and sew a rep ribbon on their connection border. First, flash it horizontally, and then vertically.
  • Fasten all the details again with an additional line, carefully cut the excess centimeters of the padding polyester.
  • We fasten the side seams with the help of a zigzag, while the side without allowance is superimposed on top of the edge of the product with a sickle.

The main part is ready, so you can proceed to the creation of the valve, bottom and turning, which are available for each model of the backpack.

Capacious model

Not always a large backpack can be called roomy. This characteristic largely depends on the cut of the model.

The process of tailoring a roomy backpack from old jeans:

  • Cut off the leg from jeans to make shorts.
  • Shorten shorts at the side seams; extra centimeters can be cut off.
  • Place the front of the shorts on the back, fasten with pins to avoid displacement and sew along the jeans belt.
  • From one leg you should make a handle for the backpack and two harnesses. They need to be stitched, and then turned on the front side. In the middle, you can put a tape for curtains, which will make them better.
  • The second leg will go for sewing the back of the backpack.
  • Now you can connect the front and back of the backpack, but it is important not to forget to fasten the harnesses in a single seam.
  • The second end of the harness and the handle should be sewn to the back of the backpack.
  • It remains to flash the product at the side seams.
  • For lining, you can pick up an old T-shirt. You should cut the neck and sew it from one end. Thus, you get a bag. If desired, a pocket can be sewn to the bag.
  • The lining must be inserted into the backpack and fixed along the contour with pins. Gently flash.
  • You will also need a valve, which should be about 12x17 cm. You can sew several pieces of fabric if there is no suitable size left. The valve must be flashed with finishing lines.
  • The finished valve should be sewn to the back of the backpack. For fastening, you can use the buttons on long laces, which are then tied on the straps left over from old jeans.

Backpack for children

Children prefer bright and beautiful things, so the original backpack will become a favorite accessory for the child. Kids love to wear backpacks thanks to their spaciousness, compactness and mobility. Old jeans and a little imagination will help to create a unique model that your baby will definitely like.

First you need to prepare everything you need:

  • old jeans (a combination of two colors will look beautiful, so you can use two pairs of jeans);
  • lining fabric;
  • non-woven;
  • lightning;
  • plastic;
  • scissors, threads and needles.

For a pattern it is worth using jeans of only one color. The second pair is useful for decorating the product. So, for the pattern you will need a few details:

  • the bottom is in the form of an oval (13x22 cm);
  • rectangle (25x32 cm) - 2 pieces;
  • part for the valve;
  • pattern handle backpack - 2 pieces;
  • straps (60x10 cm) - 2 pieces;
  • pocket (15x15 cm) in denim of a different color.

Now you can proceed to tailoring the backpack. If you want to create a neat model, then each part must be sewn with an overlock seam before work. If this is not done, then fashionable fringe will appear.

Stitching parts takes place in several stages:

  • First you need to sew on the straps and the handle, since these details must be sewn from the wrong side, and then unscrew and iron.
  • The main part of the backpack consists of two rectangles. To one of them should be sewn with a double line pocket of a different color.
  • To the plastic oval bottom you need to glue the non-woven fabric, and then attach it to the pattern. Next, the side walls and the bottom should be sewn and gently stitched.
  • Now the backpack is almost ready. It remains to sew a lining inside, and on top - a handle and straps.

How to make a pattern yourself?

First you need to decide on the model of the bag, what shape and size it will be.

At the heart of each model should be a geometric figure: square, rectangle or oval. The choice of the shape of the bottom largely affects the model of the bag.

Inexperienced craftswomen or beginners are better off modeling a bag of paper, and then go directly to denim. Thus, you will not spoil the old jeans, and you can make adjustments when working directly with denim.

The size of the backpack and its appearance depend on the pattern, so it’s worth considering the dimensions of all the details: bottom, main part, valve, handles and so on. If all sizes are correct, then the manufacturing process will be quick and easy.

Decor

Denim is a universal fabric that is used for sewing a variety of wardrobe items.The jeans backpack is original, because it is decorated with pockets, labels and other trimmings that were on old jeans. It can be safely called an exclusive.

A feature of tailoring a backpack is that you can create any decor, the choice of which completely depends on your imagination. Often, terry, bright shoelaces, flowers, rhinestones or beads are used as decor. Bright buttons, embroideries and floral appliqués are suitable for a children's backpack.
