Today, for any look, you can pick up a lot of beautiful jewelry - both jewelry and jewelry. In addition to the historical ones, a new direction has appeared in the modern world in the manufacture of such accessories from so-called jewelry wire.
What it is?
Jewelry wire is intended for the manufacture of jewelry and jewelry by hand. A very informative and exciting process that gives pleasure and brings great benefits. Each master can realize himself, do something unusual and unique. Indeed, recently there has been a huge demand for manual work, so many people want to wear what others do not.
You can create magnificent masterpieces, but without good materials this cannot be achieved. The basis for creating exclusive and designer jewelry is jewelry wire.
Which happens?
There are two types of jewelry wire: art and jewelry itself.
Art
This is an inexpensive material intended for the manufacture of jewelry. One of the varieties is copper wire. Good and cheap material, convenient to get your hand in the manufacture of products. Copper, with a layer of silver or gold:
- It has a low price, as mentioned earlier;
- can withstand any kind of processing, it can be soldered, flattened;
- will serve for a long time without losing its attractive appearance.
Another material that is convenient for practice is gold-plated and silver-plated wire. Over time, the coatings wear out and are not suitable for long-term service. But manual work is a very painstaking work, and if as a result the product deteriorates, it will be a pity, since so much work has been spent.For training in the manufacture of jewelry - just right, the material is inexpensive. If you nevertheless use gold-plated and silver-plated jewelry for long-term wear, you need to try so that they do not come into contact with the skin. It is better to choose earrings with such a coating, rather than bracelets and necklaces - as they fit snugly against the skin. And it is best to store products in bags, separate from other jewelry.
There is another type of wire with a color coating or, in other words, enameled. The next variety is silver wire with a matte finish. This species is also called galvanized. Aluminum wire, which is used to make earrings, is also very practical in use, since the impact on their production on the material is minimal. And with frequent squeezing with pliers and hammering to make, for example, a bracelet, aluminum becomes dull and loses its luster.
Two rarely used types: galvanized - it is mainly suitable for chain weaving, and brass of copper and zinc - brooches are made of it. This is a very durable material, but it's hard to work with. There is also plastic wire, which is used mainly for the manufacture of children's bracelets or jewelry for dolls. A very common type of wire is the tiger tail. It is a stainless steel braided wire coated with nylon. Stainless steel and black steel still produce memory wire. Creates the illusion of an invisible foundation.
Jewelry
This wire is made of precious metals such as gold and silver. But it happens that the composition does not completely consist of valuable raw materials. For example, a wire made entirely of 925 sterling silver, or a silver wire coated with gold. The second type has an acceptable price, and also the wire has different stiffness. One of the most expensive is the gold wire. Therefore, it is used less often than others.
Then in second place after it is silver, but it is also not used often, as it is susceptible to microcracks. And different scratches spoil the appearance of the product. A commonly used wire is sterile silver. One of its most important advantages is durability, and it is not subject to microcracks. Its second advantage is softness and ease of processing.
How to choose?
The main criteria for choosing a wire are:
- the material from which it is made;
- product thickness;
- stiffness determination;
- coating.
As mentioned above, the wire is made of copper, steel, silver, gold and other metals. Thickness is indicated in millimeters - this is the most popular measurement.
The rigidity of the material for jewelry is of three types:
- tough;
- semi-rigid;
- soft.
The hardest thing to work with is tough, but it is better than others, it keeps its shape and is more durable. Coverage is the last criterion, it carries in itself the basic functions, such as a presentable appearance and practicality. Before starting work, each master must present a future product, and best of all - draw it. The next stage, you need to decide on the material to be used. Then a wire is selected, one of those mentioned earlier. Determining the size for each product is different. For rings, one size, for chains, earrings and pendants, is completely different.
You can even draw up a diagram so that the next time you don’t have to waste time remembering what was used for.
